I cannot stop telling people how great this place is. The facility, the instructors(shot out to Frank and Brian) and the recipes are top notch. I always look forward to their list of upcoming classes. It is such a great idea for a date night or girls night out. You do not leave hungry and you will want to make the recipes you learned in class again.

A friend and I took a cooking class, which is part of Viking schools, this past Saturday night. The class itself was very good. They keep classes small– max 12 people. And the classes do sell out way in advance. I think we booked it 2 months prior and got the last 2 seats. The chef-instructors were funny and informative and made time fly. The school puts out all your necessary ingredients in advance, already measured and ready to go, so you jump right in. They also clean for you as you go, so your work area stays spotless. It IS quite expensive for a one-off class, but enjoyable regardless. They give you a printout of all the recipes and a shopping list of what you’ll need to complete all the dishes at home. Nice. Only complaint is that a class called«Holiday Cocktail Party» should actually serve some cocktails. Oh, and that we were told by the instructors that we had one business day to fulfill a 10% coupon towards another class, but when we called on the next business day, Monday, they told us it wasn’t valid since they had been open on Sunday. Lame.

What makes this cooking store better than William and Sonoma or Sur la table is customer service around. My wife and I went here about a year ago to take a knife handling class. The instructor was so good that I didn’t realize that two hours went by. We decided to purchase a good knife for our home and one of the managers sat with us and went through all the knives that they carry before we decided on a Shun chef knife(he’s one of the best knife sharpeners and he’ll sharpen your knife to better condition than when it left the factory and they sharpen all the knifes for the Food Network). They sell everything from small kitchen gadgets to Viking ovens and offer classes in case you don’t know how to use small kitchen gadgets or Viking ovens. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and browse.
