Awful service from an incredibly rude bartender. Avoid at ALL costs to have a good time on Galveston. Try out a nicer place on the seawall. They don’t even serve food and require an upfront $ 10 minimum to buy a drink with a card, which is laughable. Who isn’t going to spend at least $ 10?

This was a waste of money. $ 5 drafts with the worse totally«tatted» barmaids dressed as if they were working at Hooters. Not so much as a smile when we ordered, they were too busy flirting for tips with what appeared to be six regulars. We initially stopped hoping for a beach view but that side of the bar was closed off and opened only with live bands Doesn’t serve any food Not even beer nuts

Chill clean spot with a good view. The patio is huge and overlooks the ocean. The bartender was attentive. I would come back.

My go to bar on the island when I lived in H-town. I now live on the island and still my go to spot. They don’t serve food and I’m ok with that. You can bring food in if you want or order a pizza for delivery. I’ve gotten to know the bartenders from going so often. Can get crowded and the line gets long waiting on your drink but, that’s to be expected anywhere. Love this place and Sonya is my favorite bartender

It’s been awhile. And when I was there the bar tender only had time for male patrons. Negative vibe here

Unbelievable how nasty the dark hair tattooed bar tender was. We walked in, she forced a shallow smile, would not provide us any drinks until we had all ordered. Told us that was her rule. Was unfriendly as they come. Seems she was unhappy being there on a Sunday. We should have rode up on our Motos I guess. Another group of 6 walked in behind us, they asked if they had food, she hissed no and went back to texting. They turned around and left. 3 locals there in the whole place. Smoking and nursing beers, We stayed for 1 drink. Second time there, I will never go back. Owner must be desperate to have someone working there alone, unhappy and bitchy to customers basically turning away business. There are many places to see the beach and spend your money in Galveston, do not waste your time on this bar.

Coolest beach bar on the island! Killer spot. Beautiful sunsets & scenery. Indoor/outdoor. Good prices. Great bartenders!(*Mindy &* Shanna– my personal favs!) They always book awesome bands every weekend during the summer. Check em out on Facebook to keep up with what bands will be playing. Most definitely the«go to bar» during the Lone Star Rally!

Well I believe it’s a nice bar to sit down and have a few with friends. No it’s not a 5but it’s a place to relax. Bloodymary’s are the best there.

We were going to check this place out because of the really hot and cold comments(lol), but there were five monster truck douchebags flying the confederate flag. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This place is the biggest dump on the island — I ordered drinks with my wife, placed my money on the bar, got my change from the bartender, then she claims she didn’t ring it up and didn’t charge me… what an ignorant individual. she had the audacity to say I hadn’t paid. she clearly needs my $ 6.00 more than I do…

Ill admit, I’m a sucker when it comes to dive bars. It really takes a lot for me to dislike one. And I was not disappointed with woody’s! I was in Galveston for work and this little gem happened to be right down the road from out hotel. What an awesome location, right on the beach like that(I’m from the midwest so it gets me more excited than it would the locals). The highlight of my business trip was definitely throwing back some lone stars(and of course trying to decide the puzzle on the cap!), putting some coins in the jukebox, and dancing in the breezey waterfront air at woody’s.

This place is most definitely a hole in the wall but, do you want to go in a bar on vacation that reminds you of cheers and being at home? If you do than this is your place! This is a bar on stilts and has plenty of patio space with pool tables in the back and plenty of your biker crowd mixed with locals. We came in here looking for friends that were vacationing on the island and had been in there drinking but, they had already left. They have a nice big parking lot out front! There was also live music going on inside the bar! This is most definitely a shot and a beer type of place but, who doesn’t love that on a vacation? I don’t know about you but, I do! I will definitely come in this place again while on Galveston Island!

really nice dive on the seawall out west… quiet…all open… good music playing… being that it was a thursday night… it was a small crowd of locals… had a few cocktails and a shot [recommended by the friendly bartender] called a gummy bear — yummy cherry vodka with pineapple juice great place to go when you just wanna be casual and laid back

Surprisingly liked this place! Doesn’t look like the coolest place & doesn’t serve food but they had live music and a friendly bartender! If you are looking for a packed place with tons of games this isn’t your place but I’m vacationing in Galveston with family and we enjoyed it quite a bit. Tons of seating outside and you can see the sunset PERFECTLY from the patio. the live music was fun, and even with the music you can still have a conversation without yelling at each other. It was a great place to catch up with the fam! I enjoyed it and will go back next time I come to Galveston!

I’ve vacationed in Galveston too many times to count, and my time at Woody’s was the worst experience I’ve had on the island. The location is cool, over-looking the gulf, and it was right down the road from our beach rental. That’s the only positive thing I have to say about Woody’s. We arrived shortly before midnight on a Friday night in August. We were a little reluctant to check it out, honestly, because there was only one car in the parking lot. The place was completely dead. It was hotter in the bar than it was outside. There is one run-down pool table. There is a jukebox with a pathetic selection of music(seriously, you might find better songs on a Waffle House jukebox) which skipped a third or so of the songs we paid for. It also stole a dollar from me, and the bartender did not reimburse my money. Speaking of the bartender, she was unfriendly, rude, and unprofessional. The drinks were weak. I was told they don’t take debit, which I found to be inconvenient. We left because of the bartender and because the place was a total bore. You could not pay me to go back to Woody’s.
