Cafe Michael Burger

The salad is extremely subpar, but their Cajun fries were delicious and the burgers my companions got smelled pretty great!

This is a decent choice if you are on the Galveston and really hungry. I was definitely not blown away by it but it did fill up my hungry belly. They offer a lot of items but I was determined to try a burger. After reading all the options, I decided to go with the Campeche burger as it promised to have all the right Mexican trimmings. This means it had jalapenos, salsa, and other items I cant exactly remember. The first bite was good, it was decent. It tasted like a burger, better than fast food, but definitely not better then those that make it to the chronicle list. All the add ons left the burger soggy so eat up fast, the last half of it was left soggy. The add ons actually did nothing to enhance the flavor. There was nothing spicy about this burger even though it had salsa and jalapenos. I also ordered onion rings as a a side and they were really greasy. Every once in a while I could taste the onion but the grease over powered it much. In its simplicity the burgers are good. I think if you stick to the basic ones you will be pleasantly surprised. Stop by if you are hungry because apart from my personal critiques, the burger was ok.

Pretty good burger place! Definitely filling. Super casual. In my opinion, a bit overprice, but I guess it’s because of it’s location. Recommend it for anyone in Galveston looking for burgers!

Missed y’all terribly! Returned on Saturday eve & was reminded that the food, atmosphere,
view & ICE COLD adult beverages have no peers on GI… Combo of burgers, fries, onion rings, hot dogs (delicious & presented wrapped & HOT) enjoyed by all.
PS…the band playing @ Woody’s wasn’t bad either ;)

First time here. Read reviews, saw menu from the company website, decided to stop. Glad I did. Got a Island Deluxe which is 2 patties, topped with onion, pickles, cheese, lettuce, bacon, and awesomeness. Paid just under $ 30 for two of those, basket fries, and two drinks. Gotta say, worth it. Will be back.

Well first let me tell you the burgers weren’t bad. The fry’s and onion rings were a bit below average but eatable. Now the bad part. The girl that rang up the order forgot to add one condiment to the ticket so we got off with $ 1.09 of Mikes money. 15 minutes later when we were eating he sent that cashier out to collect that $ 1.09 to her embarrassment. She told us she tried to pick it up but he wouldn’t let her. The money wasn’t the problem. The poor girl was horrified to come ask. I felt so bad for her.

Been coming here whenever I’m town, for the past 20 years. Never had a bad or even mediocre meal. I always leave wishing I still lived in Galveston. Just the best burger anywhere. Great people and great food! Stay classy Galveston!

We are thrilled that Café Michael Burger is back! We called our order in. When we arrived the staff promptly greeted us with our order. The burgers were as delicious as we remembered. I had the Tiki burger and my husband had the Jamaican Beach burger both were juicy and tasty. It is a place we have certainly missed and are thrilled that they are open for business

So glad they re-​opened this week. Stopped in for a schnitzel on rye and spicy fries. Awesome ! Can’t wait to go back and try a burger or more German specialties. Renovations looks great and the view was spectacular as usual.

Excellent café on the west side of town. Not too touristy or crowded, and the staff is really cool. I love the way the patio is set up, and of course the burgers are amazing. I got the Island Burger, smaller than the others, but still more than enough for me to eat. The prices are reasonable, and beer and wine is available which is always good. However, this place has very limited hours. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but the past three times I’ve tried to visit, it was closed. Huh.

Great Burgers. My wife works down in Galveston, and when I occasionally drive down to meet her for lunch, we always head fro Café Michael Burger. Looks like they are currently renovating, hope they open up again soon.

I stop by to grab a burger and onion rings every trip down to Galveston. Great place for a good burger and a beer on a hot Summer day. Very casual. Swimsuits are fine.

Very clean and very good burger. Can’t believe I had not eaten here before. Great recommendation from a friend. Wait staff was extremely nice and friendly.

Have driven by Café Michael for so long and finally stopped to try this local spot out. I’ve been missing out. This little jewel offers delicious burgers, sandwiches, desserts in a very cute and clean environment with terrific views of the gulf as a bonus! Will definitely return.

A vegetarian perspective. We got the burgers with the veggie patty, and we enjoyed it thoroughly, esp by the fresh sea breeze. Would recommend it for the authenticity (not a chain) and the ambience. If you’re lookin for a small little indie burger joint its does the job. :)

tried something different today…
the lichtenfeldt burger — sauerkraut, swiss cheese & spicy mustard — i liked it but probably wouldnt order it again… only because the kraut makes it soggy…[maybe they coulda drained it before placement] the beef was cooked well done [i know most people probably like it like that… but, to me… it makes it dry – maybe i should have specified medium] AND, it needed more swiss cheese – that woulda made it great
spciy fries were great and plentiful – dos xx on the side
they serve beer and wine by the glass… eveything is al la carte

bonus — woody’s across the street had a live band that you could listen to while dining outside… great view

Reading some of the previous reviews left me wondering where they ate… this place does take credit cards, and there is a variety of food. Some of it is German food, but there is a variety! I have come here often and have always been happy with my food. Potato salad and German fries are GREAT, chicken sandwich is a fave, and the burgers of course are awesome. The streudel is omg good!

I have been going to Café Michael Burger even back when it was in the old place.
Burgers are good and view outside is nice… They used to only take cash or check and I would always forget both! Nearest ATM was always waaaaaay up the road. Though I was shocked. last time in they take credit cards now. WOOHOO!!!
Can’t get more Galveston than Michael Burger

I am forever on the quest for a good burger. Anytime I visit a new city, I scour Unilocal in search of that cities great burgers. Café Michael Burger was suggested by many people so off we went.
The restaurant is located across the road from the beach, but has beach views. The patio had garage doors which were open and allowed the nice sea breeze to blow into the restaurant.
We placed our order and grabbed a beer from their large cooler. The restaurant is very casual. The tables are plastic with plastic chairs which gave it a cool, laid back feeling.
The burgers were large and the patties hand formed. I enjoyed the burger, but I wasn’t blown away.
The fries were also just OK. We tried both the standard and curly fries with the curly being the better of the two.
I’m not sure it was just an off day, but I didn’t find the burger to be anything special.
Cash only, but there is an ATM inside.
