They get 5 stars for quality product and deduct 2 stars for the bill. You better ask to see their math. They overcharged us from the posted prices

This was my favorite experience in Galveston. Sampson and Sons Seafood Market is a family owned business, now owned by the third generation. When we went, they had shrimp, flounder, snapper, & crab from local fishermen who have provided their products for years. They also had fresh crawfish from Louisiana fishermen. Their shrimp are huge!!!(see pic) Their customer service is amazing. We chatted with both father and son. Milton, the father, gave us great tidbits of information for our stay here. It’s always great to have a local’s advice. Milton, the son, could tell I was fascinated with the pelicans, so he let me feed them.(See pic). You pick out your fresh fish, then it’s cleaned in front of you. The discarded fish pieces are what’s fed to the pelicans. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

Best place to buy fresh seafood! They are so trustworthy that they educate you on how to tell if a fish is fresh. If you keep kosher, bring your own knife and they will fillet the fish free for you.

I went in here first and prob should have just gotten everything next door at Katie’s! Shrimp were good, but something off putting about guys smoking cigarettes and grabbing my shrimp.

wanted to try this place [since i usually go to katie’s next door] and for the same prices… the only difference is appearance. sampson and son is a no frills fresh seafood market… everything is in coolers to open and look at. i paid $ 9.50 per lb for jumbo – which were about a tad bigger than silver dollar size. they pack seafood in ice… bring your own cooler or bucket if you prefer nice bunch of guys that work there. they also sell bait shrimp.

Great Fresh seafood! Biggest shrimp at 7.50 $ a lb!!! This is an amazing deal! You cannot get it any cheaper anywhere else! Great quality and service. They have a great selection of shrimp, and crab, it’s kind of what you see is what you can get. So not the best place for something specific.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid. Consistently the freshest seafood market on the island and the prices can’t be beat. Gulf Red Snapper or platter sized flounder or the biggest Galveston Bay Shrimp you’ve ever seen. You can literally see the shrimp boats docked out of their back door. A local secret for sure.

They did not give us the right shrimp! Just got home and we did not get colossal, did not get 4lbs. paid $ 1.50/lb extra for cleaning lots of veins left Worst they mix ice in w/shrimp so I could not weigh it, and it was all water and ice and shrimp. Make sure you tell them to put the ice in a separate bag and check the weight.

After shopping every seafood market in Galveston the quality of seafood and outstanding customer service made me a loyal customer at Sampson and Sons Seafood. Everytime I return to the Island I go by Sampson and Sons to purchase seafood and catch up on happening on the island. Great Staff and Good Prices!

We purchased the freshest, biggest and best tasting shrimp that we have ever had here. And to top it off, the people who work here are extremely friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough nice things about this business. THISIS A SEAFOODMARKETANDNOT A RESTAURANT! Don’t expect to find anything cooked here.

The freshest seafood in the Texas. The fish comes right of the boat each morning and placed on ice ready for customers to come and get it. The place is small as it can only hold about 5 – 8 customers at a time, but it is pretty quick once you get in and get your fish. Parking is also limited, but there is some free parking along the pier and in the lot on the other side of the train tracks. This place is located right next to Katies, so the prices are basically the same. They do offer fish cleaning a fish cleaning service for anyone that was out on any of the fishing charters.
