I love the hobo. It’s quick, cheap, and tasty. I get the hobo combination (now just called the combo). The bread is delicious and the place is fun.

The name has changed to Boxcar Express same good foot as before. Whole wheat bread is outstanding on any of the sandwiches. The location is off the street a bit hard to find but worth the looking. Great place for a pick up sandwich.

Hungry Hobo is the best sub shop that I have ever eaten at. The sandwiches are made to order with fresh ingredients. It’s been in Galesburg since I was a little kid. I can remember going there with my parents and watching old cartoon movies in the backroom. They have a very large dining area, so there is never a problem getting a table.
All orders are taken at the counter cafeteria style. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and potatoes. The potatoes are huge and delicious. I’ve also been told that the nachos are good. Since moving away from Illinois, this is one of few restaurants that I make sure I visit when I’m in town. It’s good if you have kids too because they have a small game area in the backroom where families can eat without disturbing the main dining area.
