I love R U Game! I’ve been patronizing R U Game since they first opened. They have a large selection of used games(new and retro), DVDs, and card games(Magic the Gathering, etc.). What makes R U Game great? –Service The service at R U Game has always been great for me. The guys who work their are always polite, and they know video games(unlike the employees at most Gamestops). The employees there now treat you like family, and(if you come in often enough) try to remember your name and the games you like. I even chat it up with Kyle(the store manager) when he’s there. I’ve had one«meh» experience with service, but that employee no longer works at the store. They often suggest games for you, which has led me to find some great games. Overall: 5⁄5 for service –Price R U Game does have relatively good prices on newer games. I always price-check before I buy items, and R U Game has never lost to Gamestop. A few times, I’ve noticed their used price is higher than Amazon’s price, and they’ve adjusted their price to match(or usually beat) the price I find. For $ 10, you can also buy a VIP card, which gives you 10% off used items for life. This has actually saved me quite a bit. R U Game also runs weekly specials(percentage off, bogo, etc.). However, R U Game is a little pricey when it comes to retro games. I’ve bought a couple of Dreamcast games, and they are usually about $ 6 a piece(which I think is high). But, every game I’ve bought has came in great shape, so I don’t complain much. Overall: 4⁄5 –Selection R U Game has a fairly good selection, all things considered. They carry games and accessories for every major console, both newer and retro. They sometimes get import games(a lot of them end up at the other Tampa branches instead, though). R U Game also carries used blu-rays and dvds. They have quite a few TV show box sets, and they even have a decent-sized animé collection. They now have Magic the Gathering Cards(as I’m told) and other gaming merchandise. Right now, R U Game has quite the sword collection(video game swords, of course). Overall: 4.5÷5 In summary, R U Game is one of Gainesville’s few hidden gems. A definite must for any gamer! ^.^

R U Game has improved their game selection since originally opening up their first store in Alachua. They are currently located off of 34th in the Publix shopping plaza. They tend to charge top dollar for their retro games, so you’re unlikely to find any deals here. It appears they’re using ebay as their price guide, which is ridiculous. I would shop here more, if they weren’t trying to squeeze every last penny they could out of their customers. If they want ebay prices, they should just sell on ebay. I do appreciate how they clean the games you buy, as well as providing you the opportunity to test them out before purchasing them. It’s little details like these that get me to buy something from this shop from time to time. Depending on your personality, you’ll find the service here terrible to deal with or extremely good. If they aren’t busy and if you have similar tastes as the people working here, you can shoot the shit and bro it up. If you’re showing interest in something that the staff doesn’t seem interested in, they’ll treat you like you’re an idiot. As I buy a wide range of games across a variety of systems, I’ve had both of these experiences across different visits. The service isn’t fake like Gamestop, but it’s not friendly like other retro game stores.
