So sad they closed!!! i loved $ 5 martini nights and tapas. It was a nice lil hidden spot on my side of town. Good live music. The drinks were great so many options and it wasnt one of those teeny weeny martini glass watered down with sugar and juice. So O! O you will be missed!!!

We actually just ordered from here via Doorstep Delivery… The food was awesome, healthy portion sizes and delicious. My fiancé had the Burger and Fries and raved about it and I had the Caprese half salad(delicious! and fresh — but the balsamic reduction was a little more liquid than I expected — more like a dressing) and the Prime Rib Sliders(pretty great). For dessert was the White Chocolate Crème Brûlée for him(I’m trying to avoid too much sugar — but he liked it and it traveled much better than I expected a Crème brûlée to travel for delivery.) I cannot wait to visit this place and try more of their menu!

Great place to go for a nice meal. Went there on Valentines day and was very happy with the speed of service and the quality of the food. I have also been there in the past to have drinks(martinis of course) and believe the have the best selection in town. This is a great place that is very inexpensive and I would highly recommend it to anyone! A+++

Dropped in for a few martinis at this place on a Thursday, and for Gainesville, it has a really nice classy feel to it. If you’re here for drinks, sit at the bar so you can converse the bartenders while they mix up your alcoholic concoction. Don’t be afraid to order something that’s not on the menu, the mixologists here are quite skilled, and can make you whatever you crave(try the Banana Cream Pie with graham cracker and whipped cream). If you came for food and conversation, I would recommend sitting in the back so that the live music doesn’t interfere, as it can get a bit loud if you are right up front. If you have a large party, ask for Lynn, she’s the best!

Holy buckets can you run up a bill at this place if you arent careful. I had an entrée for the first time here and was shocked by the prices. The food does come out very good but not worth the cost in my mind. To get the best experience I recommend bringing your date on $ 5 martini night and ordering appetizers to share. The fondue is a good starter. For young males be careful in here as its a Cougar den and you might get prounched on. For exsample the manager was drinking during my entire visit and went up to a table of 3 guys telling one of them that they looked like a character off of True Blood and had to come talk to all her girls at the table.

The service was great, the food was awesome, and the atmosphere was calm and very inviting. I would definitely go there again!

The food and drinks here are awesome! They have a pretty extensive martini menu so you will be hard pressed to not find a martini you like. My personal favorite is the Oatmeal Cookie Martini. Their tapas menu is small but every tapas I have had there is awesome.

From the outside of the strip mall, you would not believe that there was a somewhat classy martini bar inside this establishment… The place was pretty chill and calm inside. The spot is definitely the place for the older, post-undergrad crowd. We came here for drinks, post-Satchel’s pizza dinner. I heard the martinis were pretty good, so I had to test them out(and compare them to the likes of Blue Martini and the former, infamous Yborst Martini Bar). I ordered the Dirty Girl Scout martini and the Tiramisu martini. BOTH impressed me! The Dirty Girl Scout martini has been my favorite martini since I had my first sips @ the former YBorst Martini Bar. Ever since then, I never found a great Dirty Girl Scout until now! The martini really tasted like a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie, and the bartender even added an Andes mint as a garnish! And the Tiramisu martini… DELICIOUS! I really thought I was having a tiramisu cake, but in liquid form! The sugar around the rim was awesome garnish, and really gave the tiramisu flavor to the drink! I think this martini was my favorite of the night. Also, I was getting tipsy after two martinis, so whoever may complain the drinks are weak or expensive… does not know what they are talking about! THis is definitely a great spot to have a girls’ nite or watch a NBA Finals game at the bar with your boyfriend! ;)

Map is wrong, so I can’t check in. The mushroom risoto was good, but a little too sticky. Their martinis are big and tasty, although quite expensive. The bar was so crowded we could barely move once seated. One bartender was super friendly and cute, smiling and making us «old ladies» feel good with his flirting. One older bartender acted like he had better things to do… AND had a sourpuss look the entire night. I suppose I’d go back, but since it’s not in a convenient location for my neighborhood drive, it’s doubtful I’ll become a regular!

I’m surprised by the mixed reviews … but then looked at the dates. Glad I didn’t go 2 years ago. Loved my bleu cheese filet mignon. The steak was superior to any I’ve had in Gainesville«proper». Ambience was classy, staff equally so. The only down-side were the lack-of-manners of a few other clients there; specifically the next table over from ours. I cannot blame this on Tapas; rather it is a reflection there remains a segment of our population not ready for diversity. Or … just some 50+ year olds who think they are still in kindergarten.

Good food, overpriced drinks, decent atmosphere. Not a Tapas joint, but very good, albeit expensive martinis.

Late at night is good for dance but: atention! employees are very unpleasant and the manager shows very bad education. Two times I saw her takes drink from customer in the wrong way. So I’ll never come back!

I enjoyed the food, the presentation, and the extensive martini menu. The ambiance is classy and the live music adds yet another reason to stop by. The last time I had dinner here there was quite a crowd, it seems like this is becoming the Haile Plantation night spot.

I and my friends ended up here last night when our first dinner choice fell through. Sisters is no longer offering 2 for 1 tapas on Thursday night, which was disappointing. Unfortunately, we had already psyched ourselves up to eat tapas, and at nearly 9 p.m., nothing else was coming to mind until Jimmy suggested O! O since Thursday was martini night. … oh my god, was it EVER martini night. There were at least three different birthday parties in the restaurant last night(the largest of which was someone’s 40th), a bar packed three deep on all four sides, and worst of all, atrocious live music with an amp. In case you’ve never been here, the walls and floor are concrete, and if you can’t hear the music over the giddy screaming from the well-martini’ed diners, you will absolutely feel it in your internal organs once the guy starts cracking all of the notes in «Last Dance with Mary Jane.» But onwards. The martini list here is fairly vast(I counted 60) and chances are you’ll find something you like. The tapas list is scanty and if you’ve been to any of the other tapas places in town(or anywhere for that matter) chances are you’ll be disappointed. After some discussion, the three of us went decided to share the bacon-wrapped sea scallops, the sweet n’ spicy shrimp, the stacked crab cakes, a bowl of beer-cheese soup, and a warm spinach salad. Today was apparently mango day, because both the crab cakes and scallops arrived with mango salsa piled high. The shrimp came in an open wonton wrapper artistically shaped to resemble an open flower. I actually really liked the shrimp – the sauce was sweet like fruit, not like candy, and as you ate, the heat slowly wound its way around your tongue and seared without burning. The shrimp were huge and piping hot, and I was sad that there were only five – one of us was only going to get one.(Fine, it was me. *pout*) The scallops were large, nicely cooked and flavorful with the salsa and bacon. Jimmy said he enjoyed these most. The crab cakes, alas, were full of filler and layered with black bean salsa which constantly tipped the whole arrangement over into one of the two dipping sauces every time someone took a forkful of food. What, you didn’t want to eat them covered in remoulade or that neon orange stuff? Sucks for you. The salad was completely unremarkable – spinach leaves, chopped red onion, grape tomatoes, pine nuts and warm vinagrette. No one ate seconds of this except Jimmy since he’s healthy. The soup seemed to be the biggest consensual disappointment. I was the only one who had even had a beer-cheese soup and it was from Hops. I tried to recall it for my guests – it had literally been little more than lager, sharp cheddar and broth, but it was rich, creamy and silky and I had fond memories. The soup that came to the table last night was such an odd color that I was shocked to stir it and realize that it didn’t have a skin, it was just brownish-green naturally. I took a cautious spoonful. «It looks like oatmeal,» one guest commented. «Why is it so lumpy?» the other questioned. «I think they’re hiding vegetables in there,» I answered. «It’s not working.» «I’m scared of it.» We got two more spoons and they tried it for themselves. Both came to the same conclusion – flavor was good but they hated the texture. I was okay with it, but next time I’ll ask for a sample to avoid surprises like this. We shared a white chocolate crème brûlée for dessert. It was enjoyable, but I probably wouldn’t get it again. Overall, this was a very lackluster TAPAS experience. I would, however, be willing to come back for dinner because there were several items on the menu that actually looked interesting, and there’s a shrimp dinner here that I’m pretty eager to try. I just won’t be back on martini night. Saving $ 4 isn’t enough to offset the migraine I left with.

I had visited O! O Tapas & Tinis once before to interview Chef Dale Bixby for an article I wrote on How to Cook Fish, so I figured finding the place again would be a piece of cake. Wrong. Apparently, there are two SW91st Street’s in Gainesville, and Cassandra’s iPhone likes to send us to the one out in Williston. We’re literally driving down this dark, creepy road when we realize we are more likely to be in a horror movie than to find the restaurant. I call the restaurant and the hostess starts giving us landmarks we can’t even find. Obviously we are in the wrong place, so we turn around and start heading toward Haile Plantation. Once we get to Haile Plantation, however, the iPhone still wants to send us back to the scary road 22 minutes away. Long story short, we drive around in circles some more and finally find the restaurant. Total travel time: an hour and fifteen minutes. Once we arrive at the restaurant, the place is so bustling we have to sit at the bar to order our drinks and food. The clientele is a bit older, a bit more sophisticated and there is a live performer belting out«All That Jazz.» The lighting is low, the mood is set and we find two seats at the large circle bar that takes up most of the room in the restaurant. Martinis are $ 9, but the list is so long you’re guaranteed to find something you like. If you’re cheap, make sure to go on Tuesdays or Thursdays when the martinis are just $ 5. At this point Cassandra and I are starving, so we order tapas, an appetizer and a full meal each. The first thing to arrive is the Bixbys Bread Basket($ 5) which comes with select artisan breads, hummus, a cinnamon sugar dip and of course olive oil & aged balsamic. I’m in heaven. Bread fresh out the oven is my absolute favorite, especially if I can dip it in olive oil. They mixed cornbread in with the other artisan breads and I’m not sure I really cared for it. Next to arrive was our tapas, Shrimp Stuffed Portobello Mushroom($ 8). Normally when I think of stuffed mushrooms, I think of the actual mushroom caps stuffed with filling and flavor. This was completely different. Spread out on a bed of fresh greens was a shrimp and mushroom mix topped with melted cheese. The texture of the shrimp and mushroom worked well together, because it was all mixed together no one flavor was overpowering. I could have done without the cheese on top, but it did add a nice richness to the dish. Finally came the Macademia Mahi Mahi($ 16) with spinach risotto, julienne vegetables, and champagne butter sauce infused with pink peppercorns. The fish was coated and pan seared perfectly. It flaked away at the touch of my fork and melted in my mouth the second it touched my tongue. I would have been completely satisfied with just the fish itself. I think the risotto and vegetables actually took away from the dish. I know they are trying to sell an entire meal, but the sides seemed extremely forced. All in all I would definitely venture to O! O again, but next time I would go on a less busy night of the week. Oh, and I will Mapquest the directions instead.

Tapas and Tinis is a clever restaurant with good food, and a martini menu that you can get lost in. Although some people that I’ve eaten there with have thought the food was ‘just okay’, everything I’ve ordered there was terrific. They boast a 100 martini drink menu, and although there are 100 there, i’m not entirely convinced that people would order half of the martini’s on there. Although I enjoy a good dirty martini, I am not the kind of customer that needs to go beyond the basics there. The gruyère fondue is amazing their roasted red pepper and gruyère soup is to die for their tapas are pretty basic and tasty TUESDAY’S ARE $ 5 for each tapas and each Martini… by far the best time to go there.

Go for the tinis because there are hardly any tapas. Excellent selection of martinis and a good place to hang out with friends who drink them. The food is mediocre(do not get the paella — it is just wrong), but the dark lighting and the alcohol make that easy to forget. Food gets a 1 or a 2, and the drinks get a 4.

I can’t really add anything that Jimmy didn’t put perfectly. I wasn’t particularly thrilled with this place, I found the entire experience to be rather condescending(though, with a name like«Tapas and Tini’s» located in Haile Plantation, not a big surprise there). The tapas were not good as I hoped, and many of them were tiny. My drink was pretty good though, which may have been the best experience of the night. One last comment? The name. «O!O ?» Really? That’s abhorrent.

3rd Tapas restaurant…3rd Strikeout… are you kidding me?! I was greeted walking in this beautiful restaurant with wonderful ambiance(although too dark to really see any food). Sitting down, we peered over the decently sized menu and at the large bar with various fine alcohols. Ambiance aside, we were served some matzo crackers and black bean salsa. Confused already? The black bean salsa(hmm.processed canned black beans, seasoning, sour cream?) was okay … We ordered mostly tapas. To start, we had a caprese salad with not so fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, no basil, and a balsamic vinaigrette and spring mix. Huh? Not caprese to me. The mushroom and goat cheese bruschetta was delicious, but 6 dollars for two slices of bread, sauteed mushrooms, goat cheese, and the same balsamic vinagrette? This isn’t Per Se. The chorizo was simply pepperoni and 5 slices of the same bread, and the calamari was this awful Long John Silver-esqe batter along with the off-tasting not-fresh taste you get there. Oh, and the romesco sauce? Didn’t notice any almonds, hazelnuts, onions etc. Instead, I tasted chopped sun-dried tomatos that was more paste-like than sauce-like. Yum-o…(not) Ahh…and finally, the atrocity of dessert. Banana Strawberry Shortcake. In my mind I had a moist delicious banana bread layered with strawberries and rich amaretto whipped cream and another layer of banana bread(you get the picture.) What I got? A martini glass with the driest PIECES of banana bread, uninspiring whipped cream, and sliced strawberries. Don’t remind me that it costs $ 7. Nice ideas… unforgivable execution.
