Don’t waste your money and time here. We had friends recommend this place so we decided to check it out. I got the traditional breakfast. My husband got the working man’s breakfast, and everything tasted the same! It was obvious the grill had not been cleaned, because everything tasted the same, and was greasy and bland. The hash brown potatoes tasted so old, and there were even little green spots on the potatoes. It was such a disappointment. The seats in nearly every booth had ripped seats, and sticky tables. The coffee was weak and below average.

A friend recommended this place some time ago and today I decided to check it out. First thing to note is that you have to find parking… it’s on a main street and the parking isn’t directly accessible. But I followed signs to public parking and was happy to see it is a 2 or 3 minute casual walk from the furthest parking spot. I entered and found the café is a homey little space. First impressions are that there isn’t much seating but counting spots reveals it is bigger than expected. At least today it looks like it is open from 630am to 3pm. the instructions were to seat myself so I did. After a few minutes of waiting a waitress stopped by and asked what I wanted to drink, then noticed the tabled needed dusted off. My drink came and she took my order. The menu is diner food. Potatoes, eggs, some sort of meat, bread, pancakes, french toast. Lunch menu has burgers, chicken, fried bologna, club sandwiches etc. A board has soups of the day. today it’s tomato basil and chicken tortellini. I ordered corned beef hash, eggs over easy, and rye toast. While waiting, a small muffin … about a tablespoon worth, was brought out. Note to self… next time check for paper liner on muffin before biting. It has a nice cinnamon taste. I’m noticing a wide variety in clientele. Often cafes tend to have those mature adults but I’m also seeing quite a few in their 20s and 30s. Also there is a good number of people. The serving side was nice size. I should have asked for details though. There were potatoes in the hash… good. And there was a side of potatoes.. more than I needed. Their small juice drinks are very small and many drinks were no refill. The over easy eggs I ordered were just right. I wonder if I could have swapped the side of potatoes for another egg? The rye toast was tasty but not made in house. Nice visit. Might return with a companion next time.

First time eating here, loved it. I got the traditional breakfast, and it was great! Very nice little spot in Gahanna. Will definitely be coming back.

The food here is actually not bad, HOWEVER, hold your horses, the customer service is questionable to poor at times. I’ve had several incidents, one involving an incorrect order, and the other happened during a phone call question I had about what sandwiches they had to offer. The middle aged? man who answered the phone was quite rude. It seems he didn’t like my voice, hmmmm. Not quit sure what his problem was, but I seemed to easily confuse him by the question I asked, «What sandwiches do you have?» He seemed agitated by my maybe«open ended» question? I mean the nerve of me, a customer calling to ask about his menu! What a bother, right? My family is done with this place. They’ve had enough chances. I’m out.

It’s so disappointing to be disappointed…=’( This has all the fixin’s of a great little breakfast joint: amazing setting(by the creek in downtown Gahanna), the cutest atmosphere inside you ever did see, a really super-sweet waitress, darling little pre-meal muffins and a variety of flavored creamers. However, it had all the pitfalls of a disappointing-divey-diner: very weak and unfortunate coffee, a stale, luke-warm cinnamon bun, and bacon that had such a weird/gross flavor that I had to stop eating it after two bites. Finding affordable and delicious breakfast bites is challenging when visiting Columbus, so I guess I’ll be trying to find another for my next time in town. =(

I only give this place a star, because I’m required to do so for the review. First let me say this is the second time we have been here, first we came was tasteful enough to want to come back. Well, after today we won’t be back, we came in and apparently became invisible, they had 4 people there, no one acknowledged our arrival, no one ask us our drink order, we had to get our own menus. Other people came in after us and they were welcomed from across the room, they immediately received drink orders! We looked at staff with longing eyes, waiting patiently for acknowledgement & service, everyone passed by us to no avail, until we finally asked to receive our order. When we finally did get service, it did not come as ordered, eggs were under cooked, I asked for another cheese, that I did not get, by the way this happened on my first time I was here. Now we are unable to eat, we have no silverware, we had to get our own, again we are invisible, no one asked how our meal was… to those reading this thank you for acknowledging we exist. I do know what great service looks like, and we do take care of the staff and would continue coming back and show our appreciation, sorry their loss!!!

This is a seat yourself kind of place, which can lead to some chaos, especially when it’s crowded. That said, I love this place. Has a small town dinner feel. The food is quite good and is what you expect for a standard breakfast/brunch place. Prices are very reasonable as well.

Perhaps another day it would have been a completely different experience. But today it was a hot bed or craziness. Two stars because the food was good. Everything else subpar. I had a 3 egg omelette with veggies and sausage. The omelette was cooked perfectly. Side of bacon was ok but cold and the sourdough toast was nothing special. Coffee was good and strong. This is a seat yourself café with little waiting room. So depending on when you go you could be waiting for a while. A waitress had a family emergency and had to leave. So that left them short staffed and completely in disarray. It appeared that no one knew what tables to cover. Plus when I went to pay I stood there while 4 – 5 employees walked by without acknowledging me. I had cash out so it’s sort of obvious what I am doing. The only thing I can say that makes me want to return is Dylan who was very apologetic and seemed sincere AND the history of Gahanna. They have tons of pictures of Gahanna through the years. If it weren’t for those two things, I would say don’t stop. There’s other options that cost the same, with similar quality of food and price.

Café Creekside is a cute little café at – you guessed it – the creekside in Gahanna. The interior is pretty darn adorable, and the location couldn’t be better. Parking is confusing though because it seems like the massive sprawl of a lot behind there is all for Wendy’s? I’m honestly still not sure where I was supposed to park. The food is very standard diner fare, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. I had a breakfast plate, and everything was good. The service is a bit relaxed, so if you’re very Type A or in a big hurry, you might want to skip this place. But I certainly don’t mean to say the service was bad; it was warm and helpful enough. The price? Two of us ate for less than $ 15. You can’t beat that! Final verdict? A great deal for standard diner food. I wouldn’t drive across town to eat here, but I would certainly come back if I were in the neighborhood!

Really cute restaurant — great location next to the parks and the food is good and portions are huge. The only problem is the service — when we went it was all teenage boys working, no problem except they were slooooooow as hell. Sweet kids but it was like watching turtles move through molasses. The table behind us asked for their check and a box, the kid came back 5 minutes later with the check and then took 5 more minutes to bring their box. It took us 20 minutes just to order ANDWEWERETHEONLYTABLETHERE! Anyway… just go when you are«getting hungry» because you will have a nice meal when it finally gets to you and you are starving to death.

This place was awesome. We had to wait a bit for a seat because it was packed but the food was amazing. I’m sure it was not the most healthy, but they even brought us little chocolate muffins while we waited. The service was prompt. Fantastic little greasy spoon.

Love this diner! I’ve only been there once. Ordered multiple items on the breakfast menus. Everything was amazing! I tell so many people about this diner. It’s a must try!

Went there for the first time today. Bad service(really slow) and not so great food. Another table close to us left after no one served them. At least what I got wasn’t expensive. It’s disappointing because the location is so great. Oh well. Won’t be going back.

I’m giving Café Creekside two stars instead of one because I didn’t actually get to experience the food and I’m willing to go back and try it someday to see if it’s any better. But given the experience I had this morning, I would not go far out of my way to go back to try again. We were excited about it when we first got in: it’s in a really nice spot overlooking a park area, and the décor was a little dated but it was cozy and clean. Well, clean except for the dirty dishes piled up on the tables, but hey, it happens. There was no sign saying whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated, but the lady behind the counter(wearing a pink shirt at about 10 am today, in case management is reading this and wants to know who it was) called to us to sit wherever we want. All of the empty tables had dirty dishes piled up, so we awkwardly picked one that didn’t still have a cash tip lying on it from the previous customers. The people who came in after us were standing awkwardly by the door because they didn’t know what table was okay to sit at. I was watching a family across the way while telling my husband that I wished places would invest the two minutes it takes to hang a «seat yourself» or «please wait to be seated» sign. There were no cups or plates on their table, and their young child was busily making a tower of jelly and sugar packets. Given what happened next, I take this as a sign that they had been waiting awhile and their kid had gotten really, really bored. The guy got up and went over to the lady behind the counter in the pink shirt and asked for some coffee; at the time, she was counting money, possibly settling a check, counting down a drawer, or cashing out tips. What happened next really shocked me: she YELLED at him as he went back to sit down, angrily: «I am INTHEMIDDLE of something, do you think I should DROPEVERYTHING just to bring you coffee??!» She yelled at him like they were a couple on the verge of divorce. It wasn’t just exasperation, it was *mean*. If I had been on the receiving end of that, I would have been humiliated(and probably would have cried). I worked in customer service for a very long time, and being in the weeds, busy, or backed up is never ever something that you take out on customers. They were there doing what you want customers to do, ready to eat and pay for a meal. Even if you can’t help someone *right then*, you don’t act like they’re inconveniencing you. I was so appalled that I said«Nope,» to my husband and we got up and walked out. I would not be against giving them a second chance, but with all of the other places in town that have amazing service, I would be wary of going back.

Absolutely perfect place to grab a quick or relaxed breakfast. Great atmosphere, very friendly fast staff and really good food. I had the biscuits and gravy with sausage and eggs. Huge and a fair price. You can also get his option as a half order. I’ve seen some reviews say the service is slow but that wasn’t my experience at all. Very quick approach, food was super fast and delicious. And my server(owner?) Scott was easy on the eyes. Perfect mix. The menus I’ve found online for this place are different than the one I saw but I will be back as I’m anxious to try the rest of the menu.

Creekside Café is one of my favorite places to go. I love the old-fashioned feel of the restaurant, it makes me feel like time has stopped. I have to admit, that it does take a while to get your food, but I feel that it is very worth the wait. It is a very small café, and there is not very much staff. I feel that the quality of the food is well worth it. The prices are great, the food taste great, and the staff is very friendly. If you’re in a hurry, I would not recommend coming here, but if you have the time to wait, then you need to go! Everything that I have been here has been good. So far, I have tried the chipped beef, and I often get the working man’s breakfast. I get the working man’s breakfast because it has a variety(eggs, sliced potatoes, sausage, a biscuit and gravy, French toast, etc.) What is also neat is that you can choose the type of bread you would like for your French toast. Even their grilled cheese is perfect! Come and supporting a small business!

Creekside café is a local must if you are in the mood for a hearty, homey meal. Nothing fancy-just good, greasy home style cooking. Very casual and laid back service. Eggs Benedict is AMAZING!!!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane to the faux country décor of the 1980s. A time when local restaurants folded left and right because, while cheap, they forgot about customer service. If there is a sign indicating to seat yourself, we missed it. There’s a difference between hipster indifference and gruff diner service(which can be part of the experience) but this place didn’t find the right balance. Service is slow for no reason other than the employees enjoying the view from the deck while customers wait inside. This probably would have been a two star review but finding the now-rare chipped beef did bump it up a notch. I do have to give credit for being one of the last places left serving this classic Ohio comfort food.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch. They were busy, but we found an open table right away. The service was friendly and prompt. She enjoyed her Cobb salad. I loved my jalapeño and pepper jack burger. The waffle fries that came with it were fantastic! I’m glad we finally tried this great little neighborhood diner. The prices are fair and I look forward to trying a few other lunch items and breakfast. From reading the other reviews, this may not be the place to go if you’re in a rush. I personally don’t go out to sit-down restaurants if I’m pressed for time. For those that do, here’s a tip. Make it known to the staff immediately, ask for your check to be delivered with your food along with to go containers if you suspect you’re taking leftovers.

We often frequent this place for lunch, as I work nearby. I’ve had several of their menu items now and they’ve all been great. You can’t beat the price, either. However, they have had consistency issues with the service. Some days you’re in and out. On others, it takes what feels like ages.

This small, cozy café on the banks of a small creek is everything a home cookin’ joint should be. The food is well-prepared, the prices are reasonably and the wait staff is busy but attentive. I had pancakes, bacon, and fried potatoes and the boy had the french toast. We ate everything. Parking is a little dicey(mind the private lots) but it’s worth a little nutty parking for good food. And, if the weather is nice, take a little walk along the creek after your meal!
