I was heading to the Brea mall down State College Blvd(under construction) and had to make a U-Turn. I ended up pulling into this complex to add the location in my navigation. Having been suffering from a cold/sinus infection/horrible sore throat, i looked in my rear view mirror and saw a sign for Phở. I love phở… and it seemed perfect because I was under the weather. My sister, her bf and I decided that we would all like to try this new place out. We started off with the shrimp spring rolls. Spring rolls are normally one of my favorite items to order. but this one came out and was lacking. The spring roll itself consisted of overcooked and dry shrimp… almost like it was frozen shrimp that they just defrosted and added in the roll. I’ve had some horrible spring rolls, but normally the saving grace is the delicious peanut sauce they serve with it… Well…this place does NOT have peanut sauce. They served the spring rolls with some kind of gingery sauce. with a squirt of hot sauce in the middle. Lets just say we were very disappointed when they came out… and even MORE disappointed when we tasted it. The phở I ordered was the small bowl for rare steak and brisket. The soup was actually pretty tasty and the meat was tender. I was surprised that this location didn’t bring out any onions(most phở places that i’ve been to do) and was also disappointed that the raw bean sprouts didn’t look the freshest. Just FYI, even though I was sick, I still had my tastebuds… but in this case… that wasn’t a positive.

The phở is reasonably priced. $ 7.95 for a large. I got the meatball and rare steak phở. I think this restaurant is Americanized as the menu was in English. The phở was very low key and didn’t have the fatty beef flavor and the broth was pretty un-savory/flavorful. Not happy with broth and amount of meat served with the phở was not very much compared to other places I’ve been. Decent sized restaurant and clean. Good customer service. They were very friendly.

I give this place a 4.5 but since that option isn’t available in Unilocal I just round it up to 5 simply because they offer Halal meat. I had never had Halal Phở in the past when I go to Phở places I usually get their veggie but this location got me back into eating Phở again. Halal meat tastes good everyone should try it and go to this place. The location is a bit off because it’s in an industrial place in Fullerton other than that I think the place is great and I will go again in very near future.
