Not «sure» about my root canal? Can’t do in house. That means outside of dental plan. Really? Good for cleanings.

I finally found a great dentist that takes HMO dental insurance and does not try to rip you off. I came in for a first visit and a cleaning. Unlike so many HMO dentists she actually did a thorough cleaning herself (not a hygienist) and didn’t play the «quadrant» scam of trying to get you to pay $$$ for a cleaning.
She didn’t try to upsell me, but showed me a couple of small issues that can be taken care of in a followup visit and will cost about $ 200 out of pocket (three fillings). She makes me want to go to the dentist — not avoid it due to a fear of getting scammed.

I am soooo glad that I have found Dr. Helen Kim as my dentist. My mom had to get 7 crowns and a denture. I searched far and wide for the right dentist who can provide me with good services at an affordable price. I inquired a couple of different offices and they were all giving me quotes well beyond $ 6000 which was mostly out-​of-​pocket costs for materials not covered by the insurance I have. Some dentists were reluctant to give me quotes on covered materials/​services and only offered fancy materials with cosmetic features. Dr. Helen clearly explained ALL the options including the difference between the fancy «cosmetic» crowns vs. regular crowns. She even informed me about getting a denture with «cosmetic» feature with only $ 200 extra fee since insurance only covers for the basic denture. The other places did not tell me about this option and quoted me the full price for the upgraded denture. On more than two occasions, I met with other patients while I sat in the waiting room and they only had good things to say about Dr. Helen’s service. They exclaimed that Dr. Helen’s always willing to work with you and provide discounts for those who need affordable care. My mom and I both agree that she’s the most gentle and professional dentist that we’ve ever met. She’s always careful to minimize pain during the treatment and always asks if you are okay or having pain. For my mom, she was always willing to make any adjustments to her crowns on the follow-​up sessions. I am happy to have found the dentist I can TRUST! Oh, the point of the review: My mom got 7 regular crowns and an upper denture (upgraded) for under $ 1,500 with my insurance!!!
