I have driven by this place for the past 6 yrs and always wondered if it was any good? So tonight I stopped in and ordered the cheese enchilada plate and a shredded beef taco. I brought it home in search of a particular taste I’ve been missing from my favorite Mexican restaurant in HB, Marios. Low and behold! I found the enchilada sauce I always crave! The hard shell taco was very Bueno! I just found my new spot! Thanks speedy!

I’m from San Diego and we know our carne asada fries. Been here for years and tired so many different place but these guys really k ow how to make it. They season their fries and make really good guac. Now the salsa is not good but it does the job. If only they could bring San Diego’s Lollitas salsa into the mix they’d be golden in my opinion.

Just came in on july, the place is a nice little hole in the wall. I kinda wanted to go to del taco but I’m happy that I went here. When we first entered, it was a little warm due to the hot weather. But it didn’t bother us much since there were fans everywhere. I shared a meal with my friend who ordered fish tacos which came with rice and beans. It was omgah, good! My other friends got a bowl of menudo and Chile Verde. They both enjoyed it despite the weather being quite hot and their hot meals. I’ve noticed that there were two workers, a female cashier in the front and a cook in the back. The cashier was super sweet, while we asked her questions about the food and being super indecisive in trying to find what we were craving.

Just love the no nonsense beef tacos – meat, lettuce, grated cheed & a few bits of tomato. The chips are super crispy yet substantial. There is a bar with an assortment of salsas, jalapenos and onions. There are combo plates and lunch/dinner specials. I’ve been going for years and it’s remained a steady-eddy which keeps me coming back. I would love to see them have larger plastic containers for the salsa, though. We all have to balance 3 – 4 small ones in our hands to take back to our tables.

My rating is for the snow cones and not the food! Best snow cones in town! Ice so fine, that it melts when it hits your mouth! The medium size snow cone looks like a large. Very generous on the syrup. I will be back no doubt!

Really good Mexican food but kinda greasy. The burritos are huge and the quesadillas are awesome. I come here from time to time and it never disappoints.

Tried this place out for the first time last night with the husband, I got a bean and cheese light rice burrito add sour cream and cilantro it was really good minus the cilantro was all stems. My husband got a asada burrito, both were very big in size. The salsa Bar wasn’t all that but it sufficed. Overal we will be returning when in the mood for some fast Mexican food.

I hadn’t been here in a few years and thought I’d give it a try. The food was very plain and just not that good. Neither was my friends. The best part was the chips.

Food: 1) Carne asada burrito: BIG burritos! Had rice, guacamole, and good carne asada. Ambiance: Felt like a little hole in the wall, no frills Mexican joint. It’s not really a hole in the wall because it is it’s own building and pretty easy to find, but it’s definitely has a hole in the wall feel when you go inside. Service: Order at the front/cashier and you busy yourself. Pretty nice lady that work there. Price: Real cheap for the portion of food you get! Overall: It wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t mind coming back.

I love speedys! I get the carne asada burrito with Sour cream, rice and the meat! It is awesome. I also believe they have the best fountain soda in Fresno. Even if I am not getting food there, I always stop and grab a soda. They have the ratio just right!

Meh. Boring carne Asada. Good portion but boring. Fresh salsas a plus. It’s no wonder Chipotle is taking over. Nice employees. Clean.

Best chile verde, best menudo, and very good chips! Haven’t had many other dishes here cuz I always order menudo or chile verde. Been going to this place for years, it hasn’t changed, still the same old dudes in the back doing it right!

After moving here 8 years ago, I finally got around to visiting Speedy Zapatos. Overall, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the #3 Dinner Special on the specials board(2 cheese enchiladas w/rice & beans and tiny salad w/no dressing and no drink). It did come with a huge basket of chips for the salsa bar. I wanted a small side of guacamole for my chips. They charged me $ 1.29 for a tiny little cup, and it didn’t taste fresh or home made. It tasted processed/store bought. Food was just okay, but nothing special or worth coming back for in my opinion.

Not bad here… large menu choices and the largest burrito I have ever seen. bout 4 lbs The GOOD: Good food Cosido broth was perfect and hot in temperature Good temperature inside restaurant About 5 tortillas served with soup-way more than enough The BAD: The spanish rice had a funny flavor Beef meat in Cosido was just a bit on the tough side

The menudo was decent, but everything else was so-so. Probably go to Don Pepe’s next time. Maybe if you’re hung over it would be better, lol?!?

My wife and I were driving through Fresno on our way to Yosemite and decided to grab some lunch. She saw the restaurant and thought it looked like a place for some authentic Mexican food. I asked the young woman at the counter what was good. She suggested the chili verde. We got a couple of chili verde burritos with rice and beans(the only options offered by the order taker). We ordered to go. Order taker was somewhere between indifferent and unfriendly. I noticed what appeared to be freshly fried tortilla chips in a restaurant pan behind the counter. Since I couldn’t find an option to order chips on the menu, I assumed some would be included with the burritos. The burritos were quickly prepared. I checked the bag. No chips. I pulled out my wallet and asked the order taker for some chips. She filled a bag and gave them to me at no charge. It was nice but are they included with the burrito or am I stealing from the restaurant? It just felt awkward. As far as the food goes, tortillas were very fresh. The chili verde was quite good but the burrito itself was a bit one dimensional. I wish there had been an offer of some additional ingredients for the burrito(onions, cilantro, guacamole, salsa, queso anejo, etc). Very authentic Mexican but nothing I haven’t had before.

tasty cheap CONSISTENT Mexican food Ive been coming here since before i could reach the counter. nothing fancy and they need to re-plush their booths but i still love it. the food here never changes! it tastes exactly the same today as it did when i was 4. the thing i really like about their food is its full of flavor and they have a nice portion. Each item has its own flavor, it doesn’t get lost in the flavor of lard. the ground beef tacos here are bomb and i never order ground beef except here, i also dig the tostada compuesta, super nachos and tasty beans and rice, burritos, enchiladas, taquitos, Chile Colorado or shredded beef burrito, & fish tacos. they started charging extra for chips where years before it was included but their cheap & delicious so it’s all good. good assortment of salsas and toppings @ toppings cart(left of the counter space) also they have tasty brewed iced tea, Pepsi products, beer, horchata as well as bottled Mexican drinks — Ive yet to try their breakfast items but friends who have enjoyed them. I’m not big on menudo but there’s is said to be pretty tasty. they have lunch specials m-f(noon-3p i believe– 2 item or burrito) if you haven’t tried speedys yet your missing out.
