Brings back childhood memories. I love the food here and the taste has not changed since I was only two years old. It’s a great place to eat if you’re really hungry and do not want to eat fast food.

Have not been here in over 13 years… I regret coming back… i would not even consider the food to be Mexican, I’m not going to be mean but the food made me sick! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. By the way if you love salads might be okay but i paid for Mexican food not a salad bar which is about 75% of the buffet.

First off the food is not authentic which should not come as a surprise. that being said the food is good for the price. there soup was the highlight of the meal. the chocolate cake was so old and spongy clearly old, more than few days

Despite it’s very tired and worn appearance, the food is fairly decent at Olé Frijole. The hubby was feeling nostalgic about eating there during his youth w/his family and out of nowhere suggested we go there for lunch. I acquiesced and found the food on the better side of ok. The salad bowl was full of crispy iceberg/romaine lettuces. The chicken enchiladas had an eerily smooth green sauce that still managed to taste good; was tricked into eating some chicharones in red sauce which I thought was beef. Not a pleasant experience to bite into a sauce-soaked pork cracklin’ when you think you’re biting into meat. The chile verde was very good. Glad the hubby got to go down memory lane, but my next Mexican meal will be somewhere else.

I was Pretty weary about going here since the reviews were so poor but I gave it a chance since I had a deal saver coupon. I said what the heck it can’t be that bad anyways it’s going to be free. so I took my mom out to lunch and boy were we in for a treat. I can say that it doesn’t have an array of choices but it has enough choices to fill you. The salad choices were pretty good had all the toppings you could ask for. the food choices were good enchiladas, tacos, chili Verde, beans and rice and they have a soup caldo. They even have a desert area tapioca pudding Jell-O ice cream andthe best chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted so all in all I think it was a good lunch the thing that caught me was their senior discounts so I would bring my parents here it’ll be easy on my pockets ha ha

Mediocre mexican at its finest. would recommend skipping this place and heading over to speedy zapatos, or even taco bell. more authentic than here. really. 3 stars is generous. prob diserves 2 stars. step up your game! Chile Rennano was good. rice and beans were good. but thats not hard to get right…

I have been coming here for years. However, I will only come on Sundays. The foods offered change each day, and Sunday seems to have the best selection. The food is delicious and is consistently replaced so it stays fresh. I recommend the fresh corn tortillas, Spanish rice, and the enchiladas with green sauce. The make your own taco bar is an awesome feature. The prices are totally reasonable for the amount of the food you get. They even serve dessert options. Lunch time prices are most reasonable.

It’s a buffet so there’s really only a few things that you need to keep in mind. 1. You’re not going to like 90% of what’s on the line. But if you find half a dozen things on the menu that you like you’re golden. 2. The food is hotter, fresher and better when it’s busy. Lunchtime and weekends are a good time to go. Personally I like the moscaccio salad(sp?), beans, rice, build your own tacos, cheese and onion enchiladas. The fried chicken is excellent as is the chile rellenos(thursday only).

Came here today for the first time and I did not like it at all. I usually like Mexican food, but their food was so bland, cold, and old. Finished one plate and decided to call it quits right there. My family and I all left with bad stomachs aches, and I ended throwing up all my food. Overall it was not worth my money, and I won’t be going there again.

We came here, because my boyfriend used to go to the one in Visalia when he was a kid and really liked it. So we tried it, wish we hadn’t. There was no salad in the salad bowl, they did have a couple of pasta salads that were pretty good. They don’t have very many choices in the hot food section. I tried green and red enchiladas, the green were better. The build your own taco bar was good, I filled myself up on that. The meat was really tasty and I liked the fresh salsa. For the money I would have rather gone some where else, I’ve had better Mexican food from a taco train. Won’t come back again

Came here for lunch. Was surprised to see it’s a buffet. The place is a bit dated but it’s fine. Takes you back to 1970 – 80’s era. Overall very clean when we went. The food selection is somewhat limited but we enjoyed them. They were playing Christmas music, mostly in Spanish, and we thought it was really fun. Would return in the future! It’s a good alternative to Chinese buffet.

I came here because I had a GroupOn Coupon, & it was my first time trying a Mexican Buffet. Walking in and seeing that there were only two people in the entire restaurant, i already knew it was going to be bad news! The food was SUPER dry and old! The lady that worked there would scrap off the old hard sauce on top of the food with the serving spoon and tuck it underneath… The only thing that kind of looked good was the salad, however the dressing was watered down and there was only bacon bits and sesame seeds for toppings. My pet cats 45 cent can of slop would probably taste better than the food they serve here… If you want real authentic Mexican food with more variety, go somewhere else! This place is unsanitary and gross(We decided not to bother using their restrooms). Eat here at your own risk!!!

This place is GROSS! Seriously not close to authentic, or good at all. We bought a dealsaver coupon(like groupon) and went in today. Immediately after walking in, we knew it was a bad idea, however we were brave and went forward. Its dark, dirty, and stinks of a roach infested place. When you walk in you pay immediately, and walk down a long hall way, and seat yourself. The first thing you see is a salad bar(bigger then the hot food section) Watered down coleslaw, wilted lettuce, nasty! No one touched the salad bar. The hot food section had a tiny tray of mole(todays special) Which was cold, pinto beans, also cold, hot Spanish rice, and NASTY looking refried beans Venture on a little more there is a caldo(didnt try) roasted chicken,(also didnt try) chile rellanos(I have a story about this) and premade tacos(crunchy shell«white» tacos) Then a section to make your own tacos. So what I managed to eat was rice, which was warm, generic rice. pinto beans, and chile rellanos,(there was a try, with two in it, my mom and I took them) Since it was the only thing I liked, I went up for seconds(it is a buffet) Nothing, waited 5 minutes and still nothing, so I asked the lady that was stocking the food if she had more to put out, «No» “Ummm, ok well wil you be making more?” «No» LOL «Isnt this a buffet?» I asked her she didnt answer. The«dessert» section was a joke, ice cream machine, and stale old cake. My mom tried the cake and it tasted about a week old. We walked out after that with stomach aches(maybe it was good she didnt make anymore rellanos) I wouldnt advise anyone to visit this place prerio. I dont know how they are busy, tthere was a bunch of «homeless» people that seemed to have enjoyed it, however at $ 9.25 a person(for LUNCH) I dont know how they afford it.

I was a regular at the Olé Frijole that was located in Sacramento at Town & Country Village on Fulton and Marconi back in the 1980’s and 1990’s. When they closed in the late 1990’s, we were heart broken. The building was a really nice place that was made to look like an authentic Adobe building. It was very clean and the food was OMG… Awesome!!! That location I would give 5-Stars too! Fast Forward to the 20-Teens and… well. I took a trip to Fresno just to find the classic Olé Frijole that I missed so much. That was a bad idea. The place is located in a shopping center, unlike the Sacramento location which had it’s own building. It was, well, very dated and dark inside and it just felt dirty. Also, the buffet was a mess and peoples hands were all over everything(not the fault of Olé Frijole of course). The food was nothing like I remember it… but I will say the enchilada’s were still very good. I’m not sure what happened, but it just wasn’t what I expected. The sign on the door of the Olé Frijole in Sacramento said that this one in Fresno is the same place and to come visit them… Well, I did and I’m so sorry to say that I was dissapointed. It just seemed dirt and ho-hum at best. Price wise it was a tad spendy so I had higher expections to be honest. It wasn’t all bad, just not that good.

My family and I have been coming here for over a decade. We are always pleased by the food and service. Sunday is the best day since they serve the majority of the food they serve on different days.

If you feel the need to pig out on Mexican fare then come here. If you’re happy with a combo plate and chips at your fave local joint then that’s probably a better experience. They have a bigger salad bar than mexican dishes. For the mex food they had a small taco bar, caldo de pollo, and enchilada and fried chicken. They also had ribs but that tasted weird. Their enchilada was really meh. Again, if you want to pig out on a budget and have variety, a chinese buffet might a better choice. But if you must have mexican and be a pig, then this is probably your only choice in Fresno.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. One of the few Mexican food buffets located in the area. It’s gotten a little more pricier over the years and I wish they added more things on their menu because people enjoy eating variety. I want to give it 5 stars since I feel it has the potential to be great but since it hasn’t been improving and the dining area could use some remodeling ill have to give it 3 stars.

Defecation on a plate. That pretty much sums it up. Definately defies my father’s addage about if a particular ethnic place is filled with an overwelming number of that particular ethnicity, you can’t go wrong.
