Great place for a business lunch. The salad is amazing and the owners and helpful and very friendly. People looking for«real» chinese food take a flight, literally and good luck in China trying to figure out which province your favorite dish is from. The dude dave… complaining about his search for authenticity and orders the Kung Pao, YOU are what’s wrong with this country. Eradicate yourself. Back to the food. The lunch portions are perfect and and the service is fast, which is helpful when your have an hour or so. Great little joint!

Went here once long ago, maybe 12 years ago. Business lunch suggested by the other party. They said Chicken Salad is a MUST have. I enjoyed it then, but was too focused on business. We got takeout here once 4 – 5 years ago and it was OK. Our recent lunch was delicious. Chicken salad is good. I can see how people get addicted to it. It has the«sesame oil» flavor(spouse said it tasted like peanut oil first, then changed to sesame) and some little beans that looked like adzuki beans. The chicken was good and when it’s all mixed together it’s great. Comes out with pile of chicken and dressing on top of iceberg lettuce. Better if you mix it all up. We each ordered a combo plate. The chow mein was great, veggies and meat fresh in everything. Chicken was fresh and tasty as other reviewers have said. My Tangerine Beef didn’t taste much like tangerine and seemed to have a orange slice garnish. It was definitely good and tasted fresh though. We stopped in a few minutes before three and were the only ones there. After sitting down and getting drinks we realized we might have come in at close because the waitress was rather surly. We asked and she said no, open all day. We have a hard finding Chinese food that differentiates itself here in this town. This place has some unique qualities in the food that would cause us to consider coming back more frequently than we have. All in all lunch was good and the fortune in my cookie was perfect!

I had a lot of hope for this place given its name and a sign at the front desk that states«no msg». Started out hopeful for an authentic flair but unfortunately it is definition of Americanized chinese food. Food was decent but far from anything authentic and lacked the deep flavor and the accompanying soup was a joke. Sad because they have a great location and so much competition in the same plaza

This small family owned restaurant is clean and they treat people very well. They always cook fresh and quality food. This is my go to place for Chinese food. Also they take pride in not using msg.

Horrible! I had the sautéed shrimp. It was slimy and it came with broccoli that was barely cooked. The chow mien noodles were way undercooked. Not happy will never go there again.

All chicken dishes were real white meat. Food was well executed American Chinese. Fried rice($ 7.85) had broccoli in it… That was a nice touch! The orange chicken($ 8.55) was also great. The service was pleasant. The prices were exceptional. This place is doing it right. I would recommend it to friends. Where else can you can get honey walnut shrimp for under $ 10?

It’s possible some things might be ok. But I had the pork chow mein and it was tasteless and almost gross. The pork was just pork and just cooked. No seasoning, no flavors and a mouthful of slime. Where did any Asian restaurant get the idea that slime=sauce? There’s several Chinese places that do this and it’s just disgusting. Even if you season the slime it’s still SLIME. the noodles were tasteless also. The worst part was that there was some kind of fight in the kitchen. The woman running the front went into the kitchen and was speaking loudly. After she returned to the dining room; the kitchen staff began slamming doors and slamming things around. Did they take it out on my food? Maybe? But that’s NEVER acceptable

Helen’s is our GO-TOSPOT for Chinese food. It is always well made and they use high quality ingredients. We have since moved out of the area but this is the standard that we compare all other Chinese restaurants to. Whenever we are in the area we make it a point to eat here because it is SOGOOD! You really can’t go wrong here…

Some items were good(chow mein, rice, chicken) but the beef had a little too much flavoring. But the service was awesome, if that helps.

Awesome! My favorite Chinese Restaurant in town! Everything on the menu is delicious and authentic and the prices are fair. I drive across town to eat here. All in all, I haven’t found a better restaurant!

I’ve been trying to find some good Chinese food around my new work area, and I discovered this place through Unilocal.I saw the menu online, and the place had 4 stars, so I decided to give it a try. First of all, I love hole in the wall places. you know, the ones that you would never expect to have good food. So naturally, I had high hopes for this place. The best that I can say about this place is that it’s not awful. My hunan chicken was actually pretty tasty. However, the chow mein, my favorite Chinese dish ever. was not good at all. The best comparison I can make is that it was slightly better than Panda Express. I will not be coming back. and so my search for Chinese food continues.

My mom swears she had a good meal here. Once. We came on her suggestion and it was disappointing. The iron plate beef had tomatoes in it? She said originally it was just green onions. Dumplings had a sour taste, and the crispy duck basically had no seasoning. When asking for rice after we ordered, they came out and siad we didn’t order rice. Uh ok that’s why im ordering it now. $ 3.50 for rice really? Wow. When I heard they were from the Hunan resto not too far away. However it’s pretty certain they didn’t carry any of the Bocuse D’or chefs flavors with them. Generic at best.

I am very familiar with the different chinese restaurants in the Fresno area being asian and decided to give this restaurant another try after years of not coming here. Ordered the hot and sour soup for a take out lunch. The cost was around $ 7.50+ plus tax. The waitress was polite and efficient. When I arrived home and tried the soup, I was very disappointed .The consistency was watery, the flavor was uninteresting and mediocre, and there was no meat(considering the price, this is a very expensive soup), and no noted mushrooms either to make it more flavorful and interesting. Knowing how a restaurant cooks a single dish, even if it is only a simple soup dish, would let you know, how good and experienced are the chefs.

Hmm at first my hubby said they had great food and raved about the owner being a Chinese chef teacher at fresno state, well I doubted the food already and then when I saw the menu online I was ok so maybe there might be some hope as I’m so used to seeing Chinese places only serving shrimp as their only seafood option but this place does fish, that’s a plus, although that wasn’t what we tried even though I had a craving for fish… The thing that threw me off was why were we placed at the entrance to the bathrooms when we were only the 4th table there? Was it cuz we weren’t a white white(pardon the rudeness) couple like all the others there as I am Chinese married to a Caucasian guy? The waitress seemed bothered having us there, bit of attitude on her face, wasn’t looking like she was going to be nice and wanting to wait for our order. I felt like running without ordering but no hubby wouldn’t have any of it. Food, it’s pretty good for the beef chow fun, great taste compared to some other places I’ve had but then I haven’t eaten this for long time either like over 2 yrs or so. Hubby still goes back, me on the other hand still bothered by being placed in the back near the bathrooms where no one can tell we were even there to begin with. Sorry but I don’t like feeling discriminated against and being put next to the bathroom entrance unlike all the other tables were in the front of the place not the back!
