Came here with the boyfriend for lunch and had a nice time! I had a fish taco and he had these two tacos which… I don’t know, haha but they’re tacos that’s for sure. My fish taco was okay. Everything was great, sourcream was fresh and light, tortillas were warm and yummy, but the fish, while it was nice and hot, was not as tender as I’d have liked it to be. So it was a good fish taco but not the best I’ve tried. Oh, and at the beginning of the meal they give you free chips and salsa! Service was really great! My boyfriend and I were pretty much the only ones there and we had pretty good conversation with the waitress, who was super sweet and brought us our food really quickly. I look forward to coming here again to try their other stuff!

FOOD: Mediocre. The chips & salsa are always yummy and addicting, and while everything else tastes fine, I just don’t like that my burritos are always either cold or lukewarm. Honestly, I think Tony’s Tacos makes better food than them by a milestone. SERVICE: We never come during the busy hours, so our servers are always very attentive. All of our servers have been friendly, so I have no complaints in terms of service.

Although I already picked Salsa Picante No. 2 as my favorite Mexican restaurant in Fremont, I was still open to trying this restaurant since my best friend wanted to come here to celebrate National Margarita Day! The restaurant is actually pretty new-ish looking and clean inside. They have a divider between the bar area and the booths and tables. Service was awesome! Our waitress was super nice and accommodating. She constantly checked up on us, but it wasn’t overbearing or disruptive. They offer you free chips and salsa! It was nice to nibble on chips while we looked over the menu. We ordered the Sampler and the Chicken Chimichanga. The Sampler had taquitos(they were super dry), shrimp(way too fried), quesadilla(nothing special), and an empanada-ish item that I didn’t try. The chimichanga was pretty good though! It was huge and full of chicken, beans, and rice. Besides the great service, I’m not too sure if this place offers anything that another Mexican restaurant can’t offer me.

I have not been here in years. Not since their food made me and my daughter-in-law sick. Today I go to get my nails done and all the women in the salon were sick with food poisoning. They had all shared nachos from this place. They might have new owners but sounds like some things haven’t changed. Too bad.

Although located in a seemingly random strip mall(as most good restaurants in Fremont seem to be), this place is excellent. I’ve been going to Mission Jarrito for over 10 years and it’s never disappointed. Moderately priced, the food is always yummy. I’d recommend the enchiladas, chimicanga or the tamal special(all come with cheese and sour cream on them though, so i always have to remember to ask for it without). The tamal special is quite spicy and extremely cheap! Also, there chips and salsa are some of the best in the area; the chips are crispy and the salsa hot and fresh. Lastly, the service is always friendly and remembers my family each time we dine in(at one point that was a weekly occurrence).

I love Mexican food and I’m Mexican but didn’t walk in with high expectations because I like to give every place an even starting point. I walked in and the place was empty, not terrible at 11:30 but my radar turned on to see what was up with this place. Sat down and ordered the Agua de Fresa. It was gross and old, strike 1. The Chips and Salsa where good. Waited about 5 minutes to order my food at an empty restaurant from a less than cheerful waiter. When I told him I would like a soda because the water tasted old he didn’t acknowledge me and kept on taking my order. Strike 2. Waited for about 10 minutes for my Burrito which isn’t terrible but again, the restaurant was empty. The feel in here is kind of gloomy and even the music made me want to get a tequila bottle and start taking shots. Got the Burrito and It looked pretty good. Tasted it and was pretty good. I didn’t give it 4 stars because of service. I only had the burrito so I can’t speak on the rest of the menu at this point. But what can I expect from a Mexican joint in the Mission Area of Fremont. Not bad.

More of a 3 ½ star review. Great service and the burrito and quesadilla ordered as entrees were good, but not great. What is delicious is the tortilla soup. It is authentic(has not been thickened by flour or cream) and is served with plenty of jack cheese, tortilla strips and what seemed to be almost an entire avocado — perfectly ripe. I will go back and upgrade to a bowl(had a cup) of the soup and stick with that. It is worth driving for.

This is pretty terrible Mexican food. I only came here because I had to wait while my sister finished her Millcreek class. I ordered a super burrito which was supposed to have rice, cheese, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole & sour cream. What I got was a larger cousin of the Taco Bell bean & cheese burrito with meager portions of salsa, guac & sour cream on the side. It was gross, low quality & basically a highly regrettable decision. I mean how do you mess up basic things like salsa & guac? The guacamole tasted very acidic & watered down, like it was out of a packet. The salsa had some overwhelming minty flavor that was not at all related to Mexican food. Will not ever eat here again.

I gave them a 4 due to my hunger. Very satisfying and the plate size was plus size.

I think 3 stars describes this restaurant best. If you’re craving cheap mexican food, this place provides. The rice tastes like standard mexican rice. The beans, the guacamole, etc. You’ll get rid of your mexican food craving and you won’t break your wallet. I never ate the dinner menu so I can’t say much about that. I’ve only gone in for the burritos. Add the enchilada sauce on the burrito, it’s worth the cost but its not worth the calories. So make up your mind whether you want to flavor or a fuller wallet. The service and ambiance are pretty standard. Not much to talk about those. But yea, if you want an authentic mexican burrito, I’d go to San Jose or Sunnyvale, not Fremont.

My family had decided on this rainy and Sunday morning that Tacos sounded just right. Our normal place was closed and we stumbled upon MJ. Upon initial impression the place seemed like a family-style Mexican place in a lonely strip mall next to the freeway. Mom had the Chili Relleno and wasn’t pleased. The breading was overcooked and had to be removed before making the dish edible. Tay had a Super Burrito covered in Tamale sauce and cheese. Jes ordered a beef taco. She liked the taco but said the meat could have been more finely cut. I ordered a MJ Burrito with boiled chicken. The chicken seemed dry and the meat was sliced too-large. The cheese was perfect. We also ordered two chicken soft tacos à la carte… Dad wasn’t pleased. The rice seemed dry and he’s «had better.» We won’t be coming back to MJ again.

I come here for one thing only: Carne Asada Super Burrito If you order it on a plate, they’ll bring it out with some of the ingredients(e.g.: sour cream) on the side, unless you specify to have everything in it. If you order it to go, they’ll put everything in it. The price is $ 1 more than I’d prefer to spend on it, but I pay it because it fills me up and is a great dinner when I’m coming home from work and don’t have the energy to cook something up. The staff and service are very friendly and responsive. I’ve had other dishes here before, and though it’s been good, it’s hardly the best Mexican food ever. It’s still a nice place to come for lunch for a regular meal with friends.

Out in the middle of no man’s land, I went up the hill to this quiet Ohlone Mission Plaza. There are not much in the plaza, but inside the plaza this family-owned Mexican restaurant has got my eyes and attention. There were quite of a bit of a crowd during lunchtime on a Sunday Afternoon with families and loved ones getting together. But the small bar with the Giant’s game on the Flat-screen TV was empty with the grandfather as the bartender and also took my order. I got a Carnitas Super Burrito for $ 7.50. Since I was in Fremont, I had no desire to drink, but the grandfather had a special for me on the Cadillac Margarita for $ 5.00. The cocktail had part Gran Gala Orange liqueur, part Tequila 1800 and sour mix on a salted-brimmed glass. The way he was making my drink seems like at least 90% is mainly alcohol. That drink packs a walloping punch and tasted so well with my burrito. My opinion on the taste of the burrito would’ve change if I had a non-alcohlic beverage. The Burrito: The drink: That old man sure makes a «mean» cocktail and we were chatting Giant’s baseball on my visit. That cocktail got me buzzing for hours. Thus I stayed in my car and chilled until the alcohol wears off. Yeah, I’m a lightweight drinker!

If you are ever starving, get a super burrito from them. It’s quick, it’s massive, and it’s seriously scrumptious! I’ve been here a lot. You sit down, you get chips and salsa free while you wait for your food. TRYIT! =)

My favorite Mexican restaurant! I’ve been eating for the last 10 years and although their prices went up $ 1.00… the food has remained consistently delicious! I usually order the beef flautas, a side of guacamole, pico de gallo, and a cherry coke. Excellent every time.

I remember coming here once or twice when i was in high school and enjoying the food. Now 6-ish yrs later, I visted it again and was gratified to find that I still enjoy the place. You get a lot for your money here. Portions are very very generous. The bowl of soup was phở bowl sized(i hadn’t expected that and I pretty much said«holy crap! that’s huge» when I saw it.) I got the tortilla soup which I was pleased with. Some other reviewer complained that it was only broth with tortillas and avocado, but it was clearly stated in the description of the dish that it was chicken broth with tomatoes, tortilla chips and avocado, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise. I enjoyed the soup, despite it not having chunks of meat or a whole load of other things. It was simple and delicious(a tad salty). The service speed here is at a relaxed gear, so if you’re in a hurry, I wouldn’t go here. However, I found the wait staff to be excellent about following up with refilling drinks and checking up to see how we were enjoying the meal. Anyways, I would eat here again cause the food is good and the portions are hearty for the price. And boo on the Mission Jarrito-haters!

Well the food is not great. But the restaurant is clean and service is good. On Friday eve there were not many people. not a good sign. But if on A Friday night, if I want to eat someplace quiet, without any wait. I would come back. I thought the food was not bad, just OK. The salad was fresh.

As a disclaimer I have gone to this place since my parents and I first moved to Fremont back in 1995. It is a staple to the Mission San Jose area and while the food has never been phenomenal it has always been consistently good. Not anymore. I dig that this place had AC and the service was quick. However, it was unfortunate that I could barely choke down the meal I ordered. Let me describe: Guacamole tastes like it came from the Safeway food aisle. Maybe the Calvo brand versus the house label. The enchilada was filled with white meat, a plus. However the sauce tasted like it was straight from the can and there was no flavor. Think cardboard with orange goo. I am not sure how you go wrong on a soup and salad combo, but somehow Mission Jarrito found a way. The ranch dressing on the salad was globbed on and disgusting. Not to mention the salad itself tasted like the McDonald’s variety. The toritilla soup tasted like Campbells chicken noodle plus some avocado. I was horrified by the grease circles which floated along the top of the bowl. Not to mention there wasn’t any substance to the broth(I am convinced they forgot to put anything in the soup aside from a tortilla chip, a piece of avocado, and some cheese). I am sad to see such a staple as Mission Jarrito fall to pieces, however, I think my business will be going to La Casita from now on.

2.5 stars We ended up here on accident. We were trying to go to Yen Ching down the way, but it was closed today. There were quite a few customers when we got to Mission Jarrito at 12:30. They have a lunch special menu, but I was starving and opted to order from their main dinner menu. I ended up choosing the chicken enchilada and pork tamale combo. Chips and salsa: The chips were very bland and cold. They definitely needed some salt. The salsa was just o.k. Nothing spectacular here. Enchilada/Tamale combo($ 9.99) — Enchilada, tamale, rice, and choice of refried or «charro» beans. The enchilada was ok. The boiled, shredded chicken was pretty flavorless. The tamale was horrible… dry and falling apart. I will not be coming back here again.
