Matthew J Teramura, DMD

This is a fantastic dentist/​dentist office. My entire family sees Dr. Teramura, including my 4 year old son. He’s gentle, calm, and knowledgeable. No long wait times. Great with kids. Super-​great with scary Novocaine shots to the gums (!). The office even has a play-​room and they are very accommodating if you have to bring your children with you while you have your check-​up. His hygienist is wonderful, too! Highly recommend!

U know u have one hell of a goooooood dental doctor when u drive from Sacramento! My kids and I love Dr. Teramura! He’s Awesome! Will continue to keep the 2 hour drive rather than other doctors we’ve seen in our home-​town!

The best Dentist we have ever seen!
All of the team are exceptionally friendly and welcoming and very family Friendly. The facilities are so clean and inviting. My son loves going there and never wants to leave and he’s had 3 fillings! He was so happy to receive his gift bag and toy and keeps his sticker on all day and then sticks it on to his pajamas too!
They always make sure to change the channel for him and he is so comfy and treated like a prince :)
On one occasion, after the visit, my son had bit into his cheek and his side of his face had swollen a lot! I dropped in just to see if Dr Teramura would check it to ensure it wasn’t infected and my son was fine, it’s just one of those things that can happen since my son is little he couldn’t feel that he had bit into it. The whole team were super accommodating and even though I had dropped in without calling ahead, he was happy to take the time to properly review him. The swelling went down and everything was fine.
When I have treatments done, I take our son with me and he either plays in the play room or sits on a seat next to me and watches TV, even then they are very welcoming and keep an eye on him since I can’t see and pause treatments if he wants my attention. I never even expected that of them, they just do it. Once my son wasn’t co-​operating and they were so kind and patient and sped up as fast as they could to get it done too.
The Dr is very gentle and you don’t feel any pain and he always pre warns you if there will be a lot of vibration from the drilling etc, and asks to see if you are ok. He is thorough in his work and very professional and takes the time to get it right.
They are available at convenient times which is helpful for my husband as he is working full time so he can get there after work.
Couldn’t rate them highly enough.

Visited 3 to 4 times, from San Jose to Fremont traveling almost 20 miles one way because we were very impressed with his service.
I had a hard time getting the appointments, because his calendar is not free which is a good sign of his popularity. When I dropped a voice mail over the weekend, he came to office early on a Monday to do RTC treatment to get me out of the terrible pain.
He is awesome, their service is awesome. My family did all our dental treatments at his clinic.
In life, you are lucky if you can find a good dentist and a good mechanic. I could find the dentist in Matthew. Still searching for a good mechanic.

I’m really sorry to give a poor review, because Dr. Teramura seems like a really nice guy, and he has a very cute little family– but he is not a good dentist. I wish I had seen a review like this before experiencing what I experienced, so hopefully this will help people in the future.
We tried out his practice a few months ago because our previous dentist stopped practicing. The first day we came in, no one acknowledged us (I had made an appointment for cleanings/​exams for myself, my husband, and my two kids) for more than 10 minutes. Then, a receptionist/​hygenist (not really sure what her title was) greeted us and took the piles of paperwork I had filled out (they require a lot of paperwork to join the practice). 20 minutes later, we still had no idea what was going on. Eventually, Dr. Teramura came out and said we would need to leave because something was happening with the electricity and he couldn’t do anything about it. No one offered to reschedule, or anything.
I should have taken this as a sign from the universe that this was not a good place for my family, but I persevered with a new appointment since I had filled out all that paperwork already! On our second visit, we were actually able to get cleanings and exams. They were fine– nothing special but not bad either. He recommended several fillings for my 6 year old. I’m not sure why dentists like to fill baby teeth, but he’s not the first one (she had 2 fillings in the past from our prior dentist and did fine with them). So, we scheduled a follow up for her fillings.
Here is where it starts to get bad– he insisted on giving her Novocaine. She had her previous fillings with no Novocaine– just a very patient, gentle dentist who drilled minimally and inserted tiny fillings. Dr. Teramura shot my 42 pound, 6 year old little girl so full of Novocaine that her face swelled up for days. She formed an abscess in her cheek, and we needed to take her to the ER and follow up with her pediatrician, costing us over $ 100 in care and medication. Both the ER doctor and the pediatrician recommended that we follow up with the dentist. When we tried, the office was randomly closed. We called and left a message for Dr. Teramura. He called back and said that he would have referred us to the pediatrician anyway, even if he was there.
So, he wasn’t even willing to take responsibility and follow up on his mistake. I am a very forgiving person, but when someone causes that big of an issue– the suffering and disfigurement of a child– and it not even willing to try and follow up, that is unforgivable.
I’m pleased to say that, well over a week later, my daughter’s cheek and gums healed, so no lasting damage (we were concerned, given the severity, that there would be permanent disfigurement). This was no thanks to Dr. Teramura, though.
Please, do not bring your kids here.

Matthew is the best and is fair, honest, friendly, and a great dentist! My children love him bc we can never feel his shots– takes a lot of the anxiety away! He is always willing to see us on weekend or early/​late to accommodate our busy schedule. Clean and bright office with all the latest equipment. I think the best thing about Dr. Matthew is that he will not recommend doing expensive procedures if there is a more affordable option… Which is nearly unheard of anymore.

I found Dr. Matt off Unilocal!and decided to give him a try for my son and I for our cleaning and check-​up.
This place is located off in an odd location next to Dollar Tree, it was a bit tricky to find. The office left a good impression– it is well-​kept, clean, and modern than most dentists I have been too.
The front desk lady was very nice. I was talking to her while waiting for Dr. Matt to finish.
When I first met Dr. Matthew he seem calm and collective but yet friendly, down-​to-​earth and easy-​going. My son got his cleaning and check-​up done first. Dr. Matt was very easy on him and had him watch TV to keep him distracted. I liked that he has an easy hand on children as they can be sensitive when it comes to teeth. This is a plus for working well with children. My son seem fine with the entire process.
Then there was my cleaning– mind you I have braces! Dr. Matt was able to do my cleaning with my wire on-​how impressive! The last dentist I was seen by (great Unilocal reviews) said I had to remove my wire for a cleaning which would have been a hassle. Dr. Matt did it with no problem and he didn’t seem to mind it. He ALSO gave me a discount since I almost near maxed my benefit from an oral surgeon.
Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a dentist.

Dr. Teramura and his staff are awesome, I called in ⁷⁄₂₅ and was able to get treatment the very same day. Very clean and comfortable environment, Dr. Teramua has a great sense of humor all while staying Professional. He really has a gentle approach and treats you with respect! I plan on returning with my 2 daughter’s for our dental needs…

Love supporting local businesses! Dr. Teramura was born and raised a local (I look up the website and his bio before coming in). I’m usually afraid of going to a new dentist, but you will see that I have switched so many times for convenience sake, and I’m quite happy with this new find.
The location is not the best, in a pretty old strip mall, but the interior is very clean and nicely decorated. Each chair has it’s own TV (though I don’t really utilize it when I get my teeth cleaned– I like closing my eyes), which is a nice touch.
When I called to make an appointment, I specifically said that I know I have a cavity, and would like to get that taken care of along with the regular teeth cleaning. Of course the receptionist must’ve forgotten so I had to come back a second time and make another trip out there. However, when I was there, I told Dr. Teramura that I specifically wanted to get the cavity filled too so I don’t have to make another trip, and I can tell he was trying hard to make it happen, looking at the clock and trying to gauge if he can fit it in, but ultimately it was a no. I did appreciate the effort though.
Second trip, I had my cavity filled and everything went smoothly. The staff (aside from that one mistake) was overall very nice, so was Dr. Teramura. I’d come back for my future dental needs.

This doctor is the best. He’s so gentle. He did my filling believe it or not I didn’t even feel it. In fact I fell asleep while he was doing the filling.

One of my wisdom teeth was really bothering me. I had no insurance so I was looking around for a good cheap price to extract my teeth I called a few dental
Office for a price average. A lot of places were very expensive. I called Dr. Teramura told him my situation and explain to him that it was very painful. He took me in right away but before I drove over there he gave me a price avarage (130 – 150) NOT BAD AT ALL. I went he took n x-​ray and extracted my teeth he was very nice very gentle on me And gave me a really good price. The only bad thing was that I got a dry socket after but honestly I felt like that was my fall didn’t really take care of my self after like I was supposed to haha good thing is that I worked for a dentist so he helped me out with the dry socket. The only reason why I didn’t go with my dentist for the extraction was because we were off For 2 days and he told me to wait till Tuesday until we went back to work but if u ever had a toothache you know that pain is no joke .I will defiantly recommend Dr. Teramura

Dr. Teramura is amazing! I called him yesterday because one of my fillings came out and he took me in the next morning! He was helpful with all of the questions I asked! I felt absolutely no pain whatsoever! His office is very clean with great machinery! I don’t have insurance and he helped me out! Overall he was a great choice!

Dr. Teramura is by far the best dentist I ever had. My previous dentists only cared about one thing and that was billing me for operations that were not necessary but they did anyways because I was on Medi-​Care and knew that they would always be paid out on it because it was government funded.
Now that I am working and get some health benefits for working part time, Dr. Teramura was able to help me all of the things that went wrong from my previous dentist. Dr. Teramura is straight forward and provides you with many different solutions that best fit your needs. I never felt pressured to do anything I didn’t want to do.
In my case my previous dentist brought me in for a filling but drilled too deep to where in a couple of months I needed a root canal because of all the pain. Then they wanted to charge me for a crown. From that point i just had enough didnt bother going to my previous dentist anymore because I simply didn’t trust them. Long story short I was referred to Dr. Teramura by my relatives and he was able to save the tooth and took his time to make sure that the crown he put in place was perfect and I never had any problems since.
And this is just one of the many things Dr. Teramura helped me with. He has great and friendly staff. Very helpful with preventative care as well. Very flexible with time. Pay Dr. Teramura one visit. And I guarantee you that you won’t need to look for a great dentist anymore.

Went in knowing I had bad teeth because I just couldn’t afford to pay what most places charged. I probably went to 5 different dentist, which I will not name, all demanding ridiculous amounts of money because I needed treatment badly. The other dentists didn’t want to understand my situation nor get to know me as a person. Dr. Teramura is the first dentist who I felt human with and not a dollar sign. My experience was awesome! I honestly felt like I was at home on my couch while he proceeded with the treatments I needed. All in all, he is a dentist I would gladly recommend! Thanks Dr. Teramura!

The 5 star ratings are not contrived… this IS the real deal… I’m in HR and can easily discern BS, obfuscation, disingenousness… Dr. Matt is genuine, well meaning and highly skilled… being technically proficient with state of the art equipment is one thing, but the ability to relate and engage sincerely with your clients while conveying professional excellent care and compassion is rare indeed. This is truly Family Dentistry on both sides of the equation… he and his family manage this Family Dentistry practice for families… I’ve patronized other dentists who run their practices as a business because it is a business, but Dr. Matt somehow finds that special place where he still manages a business but doesn’t compromise the humanity so needed nowadays in relating to his patients. You come away knowing he cares about you as a person, and not just a business client.

My regular dentist was unable perform wisdom tooth extraction and root canal treatment so she referred me to two different specialist. I went to both specialist and was ready to perform all of the procedures I needed before the school semester started. However, my mother kept raving about a new dentist office that opened up near her house and she insisted I visit Dr. Teramura. Admittedly, I did not want to go there because the outside of the dentist office is sketchy.
Well, my sneaky mother obtained my x-​rays from my dentist and sent them to Dr. Teramura and he told her he could do the wisdom tooth extraction and possibly the root canal at a reduced price. Being that those specialists do tend to charge a lot of money, I decided to cancel my appointment with the specialist and give Dr. Teramura a visit. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into his dental office, it was completely remodeled and the exterior suddenly became entirely irrelevant.
Dr. Teramura performed my wisdom tooth extraction and he was extremely gentle, I did not feel a thing! After the procedure, he was very consistent with checking up on how I was feeling and if all is well. Dr. Teramura soon after performed my root canal and everything went smoothly as well.
Even though he is out of network with my insurance, I will continue seeing him for routine cleanings and all other dental procedures because he truly is concerned with his patients well being. Don’t be like me and focus on the exterior of the dental office!

Dr. Teramura (preferred to be called Dr. Matt/​Matthew) is just awesome! I heard of Dr. Matt through my co-​workers who often talked about him. They said he was very nice, flexible with his hours, gentle, and great with kids. After years of hearing about him, I finally decided to see give him a shot. I was not disappointed. My kids also liked him and are looking forward to their next visit (this is the first!)
His office is very clean, snacks provided in lobby (a plus!), and he uses the latest technologies. I also love the fact that you can make an appointment with him via text! How convenient!
I don’t know what else to say, but to give him a try. You will not be disappointed!

I was having major pain due to a wisdom tooth that broke and was referred to this dentistry by my wife. So i was set up a date for for 6÷17÷2014 at 11am to get the problem resolved. Very clean and very professional and relax environment. After filling out the paper work, I was immediately taken to the back for x-​ray and consulted on what could be done for me today. Since my wisdom tooth that broke was the main reason i was there we discuss what Dr. Matthew could do for me.
So moving onto the procedure of removing the wisdom tooth (actually 2 wisdom teeth on my right side). I was wide awake and only got my mouth numb. I actually did not feel the needle he used to inject the numb drug into my mouth. Dr. Matthew ask if i was okay i was actually thinking «Anytime you want to poke me with the needle i am ready» but apparently he already did. He took both wisdom teeth on my left side out without me feeling any type of pain.
I have scheduled my next appointment to have my 2 wisdom teeth on the right side taken out for 6÷27÷2014. I highly recommend Dr. Matthew’s Dentistry to everyone especially if you ever had a bad experience with the dentist. He takes the time to educate you about what needs to be done and answers all the questions you have.
