FOODIEALERT :) Foodie hangout plus Playground and Bocce Ball court are winners in my book. I can actually eat good food next to where my kid is playing. Food is great, foodie type place. Loaded pork fries are really good. Kid’s chicken strips are really good, something an adult actually wants to eat. They’re made from scratch, like a really good fried chicken dish. Not some frozen crap other restaurants served as kids meals. WARNING: They do put some chili seasoning on top of all fries, even kid’s meal, so do tell them to withhold it for your kid. They were very nice giving me a fresh basket of plain fries when I ask for one. They have dairy free ice cream artisan paletas with unique flavors. Another plus for me! Order at the window, take a seat at outside type of place. It’s all outdoors, no indoor seating, not that you need it. Young adults running the show, but I’m ok with that too, as long as my food is good and wait is minimal.

Great concept but the service and experience absolutely sucks. The staff have not been trained properly to deal with paying clients; food takes forever(almost an hour today for 3 overpriced tacos that eventually turned up luke warm at best); the greeting comment was«you may have to wait a while for food» rather than«welcome to tubbys». iPad system for ordering is ridiculous; orders more often wrong than right. Serving staff don’t listen. Hopefully local competition will make tubbys realize they need to up their game.

Awesome. The chips & queso: perfect The smothered fries: delicious The burgers: unique and delicious The drinks: lite beer to barrel aged stouts & nice wine selection All food is made from scratch and either grown in house or locally procured. Come here and be happy.

The only reason Tubby’s earned 1 star is because Unilocal isn’t configured for a rating of 0 stars… ONE taco and ONE pork sandwich took 30 minutes from an establishment with only an order window(i.e., no table service)! On asking about order status(2nd inquiry), the teenager working the counter said he’d advised us it would be 20 minutes when we ordered(which didn’t happen — we would have left without ordering) with a smart-aleck comment. Food was well below average with poor value. Perhaps the best part is they expected a tip up front(i.e., with the order). Our visit to Fredericksburg has been good and we’ve found many good places to eat. Tubby is not one of them. Classic tourist trap and steer clear, folks!

My boyfriend and I came here after a visit to Enchanted Rock based on the Unilocal reviews and the look of the place. I don’t eat that much and a lot of food upsets my stomach, so I tried to order off the kids menu(which does say 12 and under only) and was denied and instead directed to a salad with added chicken which was double the price. I went with the classic burger, my boyfriend ordered the Tubby’s burger with sweet potato chips and they both came out with cold fries. The burgers were nothing special and I didn’t finish mine. I work front of house in a restaurant that says no to people about a lot of things, but we let anyone order off the kids menu, I would have been fine with an up-charge. I did like the set-up of the place, the outside patio with picnic tables and plants everywhere was really nice. Next time we are in Fredericksburg we’ll try somewhere else.

Good food and better beer. Loaded pulled pork fries were good. The pork was a bit dry, but with all of the other ingredients it was great. The chicken sandwich had great flavor. My husband had the Tubbys burger and enjoyed it. He thought the sauce was really good, but the patties are a little thin.

A list-y review for your consideration: –during our visit to Fredericksburg, we had two brief visits to Tubby’s –note that they offer boxed individual wines(priced on the saltier side) –also sold by the pitcher –artisan Paletas like watermelon Rosemary are sold here –loved the outdoor space and surrounding edible landscaping –Service was somewhat awkward but the food was generally good. –taco listings offer unique ingredients like squash, duck and curry –The texture of their horchata was on the slimy side– I’ve never seen such a stringy version before. The flavor was on point but I couldn’t wrap my head around the thick texture. Not that I chow on snot all the time but it definitely bore a resemblance.

This place is a blessing when you have small children to entertain! The food is decent but quite pricy for what it is. The menu is unique which is refreshing in a town that serves mostly fake German food. I love the lemonada which is basically lemonade mixed in sparkling water. Super refreshing and yummy for a warm day! We don’t come here often but we love it and enjoy the time where the kids can be on the playground when we do!

Great food. Kinda awkward they swipe your card on a card reader connected to a tablet then hand it to you only for the purpose of adding a tip. they should ask you that question after you left the walk up window and received service

Great burgers and beers. Prices on the higher side for both, but they are gourmet burgers and craft beer. Still a tad high though. This place is very Austin-like, which I suppose is welcome in Fredericksburg. It fits the area too as a mix of old school retro burger joint and outdoor food trailer. My burger was very satisfying with an onion jam and tasty perfectly cooked beef patty.

Got the one of adobo chicken and the beef asada taco. Very good! Daughter is a vegetarian now(oh how she disappoints me! Haha j/k) and got the kale and black bean tacos. They were delish. I almost preferred hers but don’t tell her! Will be back next time in town and visit the Pacific War museum too since it’s right across the street and I hear it’s really cool.

Great food and good patio! We didn’t have our kid with us but they had a play ground. Very environmental, sustainable and responsible place.

Holy Cow! This place is off the charts with what they can do to a burger. My husband and I had the Loaded Pulled Pork fries, lamb burger and the Akaushi burger. I don’t know how we even tasted the food considering how quickly we inhaled them. The flavors are fantastic and make you forget you’re eating a «burger». The seating is outdoor only but even in our chilly Texas weather you are comfortable. There is also a playground for the little ones. Great place and I hope they stick around for our next trip.

The service and the atmosphere were GREAT! The food was a little different. Sean had the Loaded Fries with Pork– they were just good, fries a little dressed up, but they are just ok. I had the fish taco and the carne asada taco… they were good. A little spicy, but still good.

Things you need to know about Tubby’s. 1) it’s pretty cheap(burgers are more because they’re prime beef or lamb) 2) the Akaushi burger will change the way you look at things. You’ll need a napkin. It’s ridiculously good. 3) they have beer and a playground. Date night? Yes. 4) my new favorite restaurant in Fredericksburg…

One of the best tacos I’ve had. Great place, friendly staff. Definitely recommend as a place to grab a bite for a snack or full meal.

BF and I were starving after our hike at Enchanted Rock. We weren’t sure what we wanted to eat but this place seemed to catch my attention. BF loves South American and Carribean food and this place was perfect! There is no visible sign when you drive by but it’s in a very bright blue house. Seating is outside only and you order at the window. The guys were extremely nice and patient with us when we were trying to figure out what to order. We ended up getting the goat curry and jamaican patties. The patties were pretty good. Not as authentic as I’ve had in the past but the flavor was close enough. It comes with a dipping sauce which was kind of sour/vinegary for a little punch. The goat curry seemed a bit misleading because we thought it was gonna come with some kind of sauce and instead it came out dry. It wasn’t bad though since the goat was tender and had flavor. The portion was very generous so you shouldn’t leave hungry. Definitely coming back next time we’re in town!

Umnm ok this place is FANTASITC. There is literally NOTHING like Tubby’s in Fredericksburg. I’d been wanting to visit here since it was still in the construction phase, but at the time I was dating an African American man who said the place was«too white» for him — screw him — because he missed out on the best Loaded Lechon Fries and Caribbean themed food I’ve ever had outside of the actual Caribbean. Tubby’s is still new so the menu is small, but the prices are INCREDIBLE! Nothing was over $ 10 on the food menu and the alcohol — ohhh the beer and wine — you can get a 12oz. craft beer with 8% alcohol for $ 3. ISTHATEVENREALLIFE?! I don’t like IPA’s, but this is officially the only place in Fredericksburg that sells a $ 3 non-domestic beer — so enjoy it will the prices last. As for the atmosphere — it is seriously too cute. Everything is clean and colorful from the tables to the bathroom wall tiles. Seating is all outdoors, but they have plans to add a roof and plastic wall enclosures in the winter. My advice — SUPPORTTHISBUSINESS! Fredericksburg needs more cute & divey places and Tubby’s hit the nail on the head. I hope in the future they add some games, like washers, bocce ball, horseshoes, the washer on a string game, etc. to facilitate a fun late environment aside from the few we already have.

Tubby’s has a fun upbeat outdoor vibrant patio. Note: there is only patio seating but it is shaded by trees. They serve up cuisine with Jamaican influences. They have a nice tap lineup and I was pleased with their rosé wine. We ordered the Jamaican patties and veggie salad. The Jamaican patties were similar to mini empanadas with lots of Caribbean flavors. The mini pastries are stuffed with ground beef and served with a wonderful Jamaican green sauce. The veggie salad was fresh squash marinated in Caribbean spices. Service wasn’t super cordial and the food while good was definitely not made to order. They do however have a beautiful garden growing veggies, herbs and tropical flowers. I enjoyed their chill patio, cool drinks and flavorful food. I would definitely come back for a casual dinner on the patio with the pup.
