Really good food, tremendous staff! Breakfast is a real treat. I’m sorry they’re not downtown!

The seafood burrito was great and this place is affordable. You get free chips and salsa when you sit down like any proper Mexican restaurant should so that was great. Their queso is translated as «cheese sauce» on the menu which made us skeptical but it was actually pretty good! None of that velveta crap you get at some places.

Right across from the movie theater, so this place is pretty convenient. No problems parking in the lot and there was a decent number of people inside. The wait staff was super nice and patient… While you wait, there is comp chips and salsa. Not bad. Ordered the horchata. Pretty good and to my taste. Sweet with the right amount of spice. Then was the food. Tried the pupusa. Not bad. Tasty and good texture but not the best ever… Tried the tamale. Pretty good. Good texture. Good filling. Then had the taco with pork. It was ok. Not my favorite. The décor was festive and for the prices this place is pretty good. You won’t leave hungry! Would I come again??? Only if I were seeing a movie across the street…

Totally average Mexican/Salvadorian. Nothing to call home about. Maybe I’ve been spoiled with the endless options of amazing pupusas in Wheaton, but there is not a craving that would bring me back here. If you want a typical, not exciting bowl of chips and salsa and a bland pupusa… check this place out.

Food it’s ok, is not so authentic, dishes definitely missing portions or part of authenticity. I tried for the first time their carne asada which is the most popular dish for spanish, the dish definitely was missing a few things. Advice, a good grilled jalapeño, slice of cheese which should never be missed and the slice of avocado besides that it will definitely complete the dish… A piece of steak with rice and beans is not authentic. Please be more authentic with your dishes or do some research if you’re not familiar with your food.

Excellent fajitas & salsa. I’ve also really enjoyed their enchiladas & tamales. Sides dishes like beans, rice & guacamole are also very good. Extremely courteous & efficient waitstaff tops it off, and it all makes this one of my very favorite Frederick restaurants.

The good Unilocal reviews brought us here a little over a year ago and we quickly became regulars. I love that 1. It’s not a chain, 2. The staff is ALWAYS friendly 3. Everything I’ve ordered has been delicious!

Home run! Don’t miss out on an experience if you’ve never had Salvadorian food. It’s not your typical Mexican joint. Over the top service and food that exceeds expectations. Just wish I lived closer.

Please note: this is a local neighborhood Salvadoran restaurant. Nothing more. The food is standard but there are far better Salvadoran options 30 minutes south in Germantown or Rockville. The pupusas were doughy and mild. In fact everything was pretty mild and undistinguished. At best it was a nice place, but in foodie Frederick, it probably should have been more.

One word… fail. I wanted this place to be so much better, however the looooooong wait for our food to come, coupled with the soggy fried bananas(yep, not plantains as on the menu) gives this place a solid two stars. The camarone Diablo was at best decent… the mac n cheese, yep blue box kind. So if you’re looking for very basic fare, this place is on list, just not at the top.

I come here once or twice a month on weekends with my family. The food and drinks are on point every time. Delicious meals. I’ve tried their pupusas de queso and loroco. I’ve also tried sopa de res. Frita platanos con crema frijoles. I’ve also tried tamales con pollo. They’re all tastes amazing and right seasoned. Yum !!!

We stopped here for a late lunch. We are new in the area so we wanted a home-cooked type of meal. Although the place does not look like much from the outside, do not be deceived! It’s actually a nice restaurant and the waitresses have great customer service. The food was amazing! We were very please with our orders :) That afternoon I met up with my in-laws and they were looking for a spot to eat, and I immediately recommended this restaurant :) We will be coming here again!

This place is great to eat in or do take out. The pupusas are awesome, as are the tamales. The service is super fast and the waitstaff is friendly. I can’t say enough good about this place. Definitely give it a try.

We order take out from this restaurant 2x a month, and are never disappointed. The food is fresh and fast– I wish it was a little cheaper, but I’m more than happy to find something so good in Frederick, and while I never eat in the restaurant, it’s definitely nice for date night or a casual dinner. My trick to ordering here is to make good use of the ala carte and appetizer menus– I always order pork pupusas, and chicken tamales… and then usually one or two platters of soft tacos and enchiladas. Their pupusas are a little greasy, but overall very flavorful and really, darn tasty. For me, this is great, mostly-authentic food that I find myself craving frequently. So it’s made my(very short) list of restaurants where I’m a regular :)

What a great find! You can tell someone put a lot of love into this restaurant. The colors, lighting, plants, decorations– very well done and inviting. Then there’s the food. Oh man. We ordered steak fajitas, chicken & beef enchiladas and chicken tacos with fried ice cream for dessert. Everything was on point, especially the fajitas. We fought over leftovers! Will be back next time we’re in Frederick.

Literally the bomb salvadorian food. Please, please, please give them your business. Happy hour during the weekdays has pretty sweet deals and their margaritas are delicious!!! Come with appetite and DEVOURTHOSEPUPUSAS.

I think the best part about this place is how fresh the food seems to be. Every single item we had was delicious from the salsa to the guacamole to the fajitas to the enchiladas. Just great, unique flavor! The service was very good too which is something we have kind of struggled with since moving to the Frederick area. Moral of the story is this place earned an immediate place on our favorites list. I’m already planning my next strike(I’ll be getting the beef enchiladas in case you wanted to know).

Really enjoyed this place! The chips and salsa that arrive first were ok. The chips were a bit too hard, maybe like they were a bit old, but the taste was fine. The salsa is very fresh, with huge chunks of tomato and onion. It was definitely more like a pico de gallo than salsa to me, which plays into the whole«too watery» comments from other Unilocalers. I agree it needs a bit of working with and the consistency needs to be a bit refined. With the salsa being a free starter to munch on while you look over the menu, I didn’t hold it against them too much. The menu has a ton of choices, it was really hard to decide on what I wanted considering how hungry I was. I ended up going with the Pollo a la Crema, which is, chicken breast cooked with a cream sauce with onions, tomato and cilantro. Upon ordering I was given the option of flour or homemade tortillas, and I opted for the homemade. I LOVED my dish! The cream sauce was fabulous and not overpowering with the cilantro at all. The caramelized onions had a wonderful flavor and merged with the tender juicy chicken perfectly. The homemade tortillas were not at all what I was expecting because I am used to my grandma’s homemade tortillas that are huge(maybe 20″ in diameter) and thin. These were about 6″ in diameter and thicker, like Pupusas without the filling. They were a pleasant surprise and oh so delicious! So now, for my perfect bite… it would have to be a piece of the homemade tortilla with that delicious cream sauce from my entrée along with a piece of chicken and one of the caramelized onions. HEAVENLY! The sides that came with, were a small cup of beans and a huge mound of rice. I skipped using the rice with my meal, but did take a bite. It was buttery, soft and really great. The beans were ok, they weren’t anything spectacular, but there also wasn’t anything negative about them. I highly recommend you come here Our waitress was great. She was soft spoken and very polite, a dream to deal with. She kept our drinks full and the chips and salsa coming. Well done Santa Rosa, until next time!
