Always a great place for breakfast or lunch! Dinners are average but plenty of food for the price. Large portions allow for sharing and take-away. Breakfast potatoes alone are worth the visit. Club sandwiches are awesome. Wide variety of daily lunch specials! We hit it for quick or relaxed breakfasts and for a quick weeknight dinner.

I have been here multiple times for breakfast due to the value of the kids pancakes and French toast coming with a drink. We have eaten multiple times at different times of day. I like that the servers have been here for years and know our family. The food is all around good consistent quality. We have never been displeased. I would rather go here than a restaurant. Yes, the place is older in appearance but that is because it has been here so long. Today is the first day I tried one of their salads and OMG it was beautiful, big and delicious. Will be back again for their salads alone.

I haven’t been able to find any fault with this restaurant! No roaches in sight on the several Times I’ve been there. Today had a salad with their homemade Greek dressing. The dressing was absolutely fantastic; so much so that I asked if they sold it and when she said no I asked for the recipe. Unfortunately she said the cook does not share recipes. Bummer! My entrée was the baked shepherds pie. It was hot and tasty I couldn’t have asked for anything better. The portion was very generous and I had to take some home with me. I had baklava for dessert and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and fast and our waitress Janis was as helpful as anyone could ask for. I will be back.

Worst experience. The waitress tells me «we are down a waitress, it’s normally not like this, everything is a mess» yet I’ve been here before when everything is still a mess… This will be my last. So, first off, my husband and I waited for 5−10minutes before he finally got up to tell the hostess we hadn’t been helped. Then, I get served the wrong beverage, the vegetable of the day on their specials board is not what they are serving and the soup is chicken rice, not noodle(though I’m not told this fact, I’m just served what they have.) next, my club sandwich that is to have mayo on the side has it smeared all over but it’s also missing bacon! The gravy on my fries is so salty I can’t eat it and my husband didn’t get his green beans. He finishes(still no beans) we wait and wait, waitress doesn’t show up– he goes to talk to the hostess and finally someone shows up at our table. I tell her everything and she says«I’m not calling you a liar but our decker sandwiches might not come with bacon». Yea? I thought of that too so I double checked myself with the online menu. And besides, shouldn’t YOU know what’s in them? Anyway, hubby came to get me, says we are taken care of and we leave. Come to find out he still paid $ 17 for a chop steak, mashed potatoes, salad, cup of soup and a diet soda. I will never go back. So very sorry I couldn’t have to given them zero stars.

Within 2 minutes of sitting down there was a cockroach crawling on the back of the bench in front of me. The country fried steak was tough, grease just ran out after cutting through the batter, gravy was not so good looking and tasted the same. Eggs were cooked just right. The staff was friendly. I travel a lot and this is a place I would not visit again due to the lack of cleanliness. Food was just ok. Not great. Could be a nice place if they bug bomb it and clean it up.

I’m sure this place is probably breaking some sort of health codes. But it’s a podunk diner off the highway, so isn’t that what you come to love and expect? I’ve eaten here a few times, so it’s good enough to at least come back to. I’d rather pop into a local place than go get some commercial Denny’s or whatever. The french toast, as well as the country fried steak, are on point. But I didn’t really care for the sausage gravy and biscuits. Scrapple isn’t for everyone, but I will say that they make a palatable version of it. The last time I was here I got a chicken philly and it was pretty good as well, so they seem to do a good job at balancing both breakfast and lunch/dinner stuff pretty seamlessly. The wait staff is nice enough and are pretty attentive. I think the only real issue about this place is just that it’s diner food. You either like it or you don’t. In my case, I don’t mind it, so it gets an average rating for me, which isn’t a bad thing.

My mom and I wanted breakfast, and it was between here, Bob Evans and Denny’s. So wanting something more home cooked, we went with Mountain View. We walked in to a busy restaurant but were seated immediately. During my 5 minutes of looking over the menu, I saw two cockroaches. One behind my mom’s chair, and the other on the floor near our table. My mom had the ham and eggs. She thought it was standard. I had the pumpkin pancakes which could have been better if cooked more. Otherwise, all mediocre. Price is a little high for a mediocre diner. Don’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a cleanliness and good food.

Love the desserts! Always stop after a trip to DC. Not the cleanest but the cheesecake is heaven! Easy to find off the interstate.

For takeout orders, Mountain View Diner never fails to disappoint. All I wanted was a salad and they didn’t even begin at until I ask the hostess to go to force them to start making it. It only took 5 minutes after that but my total weight time from when I called it in until I picked it up was 35 minutes. That’s totally unacceptable.

I have been going to the Mountain View Diner for almost 17 years. It used to be one of my *favorite* places to go for a good meal. I went again today with a family member and think they do not realize they are going downhill. The diner looked old, not as clean as it could be, and the people there were mostly the«loyal»” old crowd, not new people. I think it is a shame that management does not realize they need to revamp the place, put higher quality control standards on cleanliness and ensure people are getting clean menus and tables. The menu was questionably clean, the table had crumbs from the previous diner, the floor was dirty, the a/c was not on very much and it was warm. If the owner cannot keep up the place, then he should sell. I will not be going back anymore. I am sadly disappointed to see a place I frequented so much go downhill. I also have a *real* problem with places that wipe down the table and then the seats with the same cloth — yech! The next table gets the seats of the previous table. Who wants to eat off a dirty table like that. Also, the plate for my bread came straight from the dishwasher and was dirty — really, and I mean with dark smudges I could rub off. I really like the people there and have been going for years, but lately it seems like they have just stopped caring. If they don’t care, why should I. Going out is to be an experience you enjoy, not wondering if you will get sick.

We stopped by for lunch at the Mountain View Diner. It is a typical diner environment, padded booths, chachki décor, etc. I actually like typical diner décor. Our server, Tuesday, was great. Very friendly and attentive. The problem was our food. My daughter ordered a kid’s spaghetti with tomato sauce. It had a very strange after taste and she refused to eat it(my child LOVES spaghetti). My husband and me both tried it and agreed it was strange tasting. Our waitress took it back and brought a kid’s hot dog meal with fries. We weren’t charged for the 2nd child meal. My daughter said the hot dog was good and the fries were average. I ordered the melon(cantaloupe) with cottage cheese. It was fine. They gave a huge portion of cottage cheese. The other issue was my husband’s meal. We usually go to diners for breakfast food. He got scrambled eggs with corn beefed hash, home fries and toast. He said the eggs and toast were okay but the corned beef hash and home fries were awful. I tasted both and agreed. Again, things just had a weird after taste. I don’t know what was going on that day but we honestly won’t be back. I have had breakfast there on a previous occasion. It was unmemorable but not terrible. This time was truly terrible. He didn’t complain about his meal, but didn’t eat it either. On a side note, the bathrooms are extremely dark and in need of an update. Unfortunately there really aren’t a lot of good diners in the area. Our favorite is the Silver Diner, which is a chain, but has consistently good food.

Was excited to stop here after a weekend of camping. The food overall, was fine. Nothing special. However, the one star rating is due to the bugs we found in our salt shaker on our table. Unfortunately, we didn’t discover them until the end of the meal after each of us at the table had used the salt. When we presented the salt shaker to hostess at the front while we were paying, I was surprised by her lack of concern. She responded, «eww, that’s gross.» And proceeded to check us out. Didn’t flag it for anyone, and definitely didn’t offer an apology. SOGROSS!

I have lived here for a little over 11 years, and so every«few» years I have to go into this place to see if anything has changed. So I visited today for the 3rd time and it’s sad to say that nothing has changed. The coffee and«fresh» fruit tasted rather dusty. No amount of cream or sugar was saving that abomination. They gain a 2nd star for the speed of service, yet while fast, the staff was quite short on the attitude spectrum. No friendliness what so ever. The food. I ordered a vegetable omelet made with egg whites. Waitress asked if I wanted cheese in my omelet, so of I course I made the assumption it was a shredded cheddar or something edible with an omelet. Nope. What showed up was sauteed vege’s mixed in with burnt egg whites on a bed of nacho cheese. Couple that with the aforementioned dusty coffee, and fruit that tasted like it’s been in the can longer than I’ve lived in the state, and you have a very tasty if not downright OLD meal. The booths are held together with ducktape, the silverware has the look and feel being bought in the 70’s, and the pies in the case look as though they were bought in the 70’s as well. I was once again reminded why in 11 years, I’ve only been in here 3 times. In that 11 years, NOTHING has changed. To include the lack of investment from whoever is the supposed owner.

Hole in the wall. You going to a diner. So expect some awesome waitresses & some grumpy ones. Just like anywhere you go. It’s clean, not bad… maybe a 7⁄10 BUT the food is amazing. We go here all the time. Omelets. Pancakes. Rubens.

Staff was attentive, friendly and efficient. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated on a Sunday around noon! The diner had a traditional look and feel but much larger than most. They had homemade pies for sale in the front which was a nice touch. As for the food, the French toast was amazing! It had just the right amount of sweetness and the texture was perfect.(See picture.) My omelete was tasty and the hashbrowns were decent. The cheese on the ham and cheese omelete was a little weird but it was still good. Next time I’m there I will try the waffles or the pancakes. Overall, this diner gets a 3.

Since I was in the area and needed breakfast, I stopped by. Wow, there was a line since it was Mother’s Day, I guess. The good news is, we were greeted very warmly and were seated quite quickly. Our server was as nice as she could be. She brought our drinks out promptly and made us feel at home. Food took longer than we expected, but I understand because of the crowd. When we got it though, it was worth it. I got the steak and eggs with grits and wheat toast with butter. I ate everything but the grits, only because a sista’s trying to cut down on carbs. The steak was cooked med rare as requested and was surprisingly flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the toast was good, of course. Am I going out of my way to go to a diner? No. But if I’m in the area again, I would stop by. Yummy food, low prices, super friendly greeting and service? I’m in. Besides, I saw some amazingly huge diner desserts there that may need some trying out.

Strangely enough, it was really hard for me to decide between 2 – 3 stars for this diner. I went with three because at the end of the day, it WAS ok. Appearance: Some reviewers have called MV dirty. IMO, it wasn’t dirty so much as a typical greasy spoon– vinyl booths, tile floors, and cheap black mats in the entryway and aisles. When we went around lunchtime on a Sunday, it was packed so we ended up in a booth by the restrooms. The booth and walls were clean and the area wasn’t smelly. Staff: the hostesses were very friendly when we arrived, as well as when we paid. It was just me and the bf but the hostess gave us a choice of a small 2 person sized booth or the average 4 top booth. We took the smaller one since it was by the window. Our waitress was curt and took a while to greet us and take our order but she did check on us during the meal. Food: I’d never had corned beef hash in my life but decided to try it here. I learned I don’t like corned beef hash. It wasn’t horrible though and I didn’t mind eating it mixed in with my scrambled eggs and ketchup. The wheat toast was fine, as were the grits. The golden brown pancakes reminded me of McDonald’s hotcakes, which isn’t necessarily bad, just don’t expect fluffy, IHOP style pancakes. The home fries were awesome though! They were crunchy and crispy and well seasoned, everything home fries should be! Would I eat here again? I doubt it. But I don’t feel it was a bad experience. It’s just with so many other restaurants closer to home, I wouldn’t drive out of my way to return.
