The Framingham location of Bollywood Grill has changed owners and is being replaced by Saffron Grill after January 9th. We went last weekend and saw the signs upon entering the restaurant. How disappointing — half of the lunch buffet entrees were scraped clean; the waitstaff was unorganized and walking around looking dazed. We asked them if some more food was going to be brought out, and after waiting 15 minutes, we left. Our server was very nice and apologized, asking us to come back when Saffron Grill opens.

Absolutely delicious food! Two weeks later, and I’m still thinking of the chicken korma and kababs. I’ll be back several times, to try everything on the menu. The interior is classy and comfortable, and the staff that we interacted with were really nice and on top of things. Really worth checking out!

We used to go here every Saturday for the buffet when they first opened, then something changed. The wait staff used to be the best, then we noticed all the good waiters left. Apparently they took what used to be excellent food with them too! We tried about five more times before realizing something slipped here and it seemed to be the way it was going to be. On our last visit, they actually had hamburger buns on the buffet instead of Naan. Seriously, it can’t get worse than that. I’m sure we’ll try again just to see if things ever improved, I was very sad to see such a great place fall apart so quickly.

Bollywood Grill is a tale of two stories. The lunch buffet is the best Indian buffet I have been to with a great selection that goes beyond just tandori and tikka masala. The lassi’s are yummy too. But for dinner the food and service was disappointing. We ordered the Chicken Korma and Seekh Kabab(wanted Mahi mahi but there were out). The Korma was good but the lamb dish was over cooked and the onions and peppers were burnt. The portions were too small for the price. I didn’t think we would need an app so we just went with the entrees and left hungry. The services was the real let down. Unless you have a party of 6+ the entrees should all come together so it was disappointing to have have the Korma and no Naan bread come out alone like it was an appetizer. The waiter never asked if we wanted another drink. We would have gotten another glass of wine so they lost out on an easy bill builder. He never offered any onion chutney or other condiments and was no where to be found to ask. The place was nearly empty on a Friday night in June which is not a good sign either. It took forever to get our check even though he only had 4 tables to deal with. Never got offered any dessert either. There is no shortage of Indian restaurants around here so we may not be back for a while.

Decent Indian restaurant on the Rt 9 strip. The service is good and the food is decent. Nothing was bad while at the sometime nothing really jumped out at me as amazing. I also have to say that I asked for very spicy and it still came out what I consider pretty bland. I also don’t care for the strange copper water cups. They look cool, but are annoying to drink out of.

We usually go to Minerva for Indian. I never paid much attention to this place and always forgot it was there. We decided to give it a try. The food is wonderful, staf was friendly. I think I still prefer Minerva because I like some of their apps that are not offrered at Bollywood. But I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try it out.

good buffet. Has not been consistent for the past 5 times I’ve been there. I’ll keep going back for now.

I am not an expert on Indian food by any means. I’ve been to two Indian restaurants in my entire life, so if you want a review that can vouch for the authenticity of this place or anything like that, look elsewhere because I have no clue! I have been here multiple times. The service is always good and the staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially when I ask them every single time about the ingredients in the same dish due to food allergies.(Literally, every time. I get totally paranoid that they’ll go and change the ingredients up on me and I will die in the restaurant.) I always get the garlic naan because it’s hard to make anything with garlic taste bad, unless the garlic is burnt, which it’s not. For entrées, I’ve ordered the Chicken Tandoori(decent but nothing special) and the Chicken Tikka Masala(really good, but like I said, I’m not expert). I could eat the Chicken Tikka Masala for every meal and die a happy woman. The portions are pretty big and I usually have enough to take home for leftovers if I manage not to be a complete glutton and eat the entire thing in one sitting.

I love Indian food and while this is not my favorite Indian restaurant(which would be Punjab in Arlington) I think the food here is good. The portions are not very large, and most of the sauces are pretty rich, but everything I’ve had so far has been flavorful and tasted fresh. The atmosphere is nice, it used to be the Rat Pack location. You really can’t walk away without paying at least $ 50 for two dinner entrees, a nan and 1 beer so not really a great value if your looking for quantity,(I think there were 6 cubes of chicken in the tikka which seems a little sparse to me) but that said there is not a huge selection of Indian Places around here. I’ve never had an opportunity to try the buffet but would like to. Part of the reason for the 3 star is that I got a certificate on and they tried to not honor it saying the terms had changed, we had to argue that that was not legal to change terms and finally got to use it, but not a great way to end a meal.

Their buffet is delicious The naan is buttery and hot The red chicken isn’t even spicy(who wants something that makes their eyes water and their mouth burn?) The mango lasse isn’t even lumpy(I want my mango lasse smooth and creamy) The gulab jamen is deliciously soaked in rose water If your looking for a sweet Indian place in Sudbury try my all time fav restaurant Paani!(or pongall 2) The owner KNOWS us cause were there so often Or you could try bollywood I find myself alternating between Paani pongall 2 and bollywood grill YAYINDIANFOOD!

I’ve only ever had the lunch buffet here, but I love Indian food and think this place is great. Being a buffet, not everything is gourmet quality, but it’s all pretty tasty and there’s a wide variety of things to try. Good for people that have never tried Indian food before as well. I work nearby and normally come in with about ten people, and there’s never a problem.

I liked the other 2 locations better, and was expecting similar. The items our table ordered were overall bland, and almost all tasted the same. The naan was kind of tough, but not compared to the roti, which reminded me of some of my early failed attempts to make flatbreads at home. Medium spiciness was equal to no spice, as far as I could tell. I deliberately got the matter panir, since that was singled out as good, and it was… like Indian frozen food. For that, I’d rank this is as pricey. This might be a good place to introduce the fearful to Indian food. Other gripes: Service was minimal and I sensed mild disapproval that we didn’t order more(I hate that). We got one bowl of rice for 4 of us(the size you’d normally get for 2 people), which seemed unnecessarily skimpy. I should have flagged someone down to get an order of onion chutney to add some flavor, but when the waiter did check on us it was near the end of the meal. There are much better Indian restaurants in the area. Pretty much all of them, in fact.

Let me preface this review by stating that I have never eaten Indian food before and had only the most rudimentary knowledge of what it is supposed to be like. Bollywood Grill was a first for me and while the food delivered in Bombay-bound train loads, the service was more akin to the 2006 Mumbai train bombing. After being seated in an almost empty dining room, my group of four friends waited about 15 minutes for someone to pour us water and take our order. After placing a few modest, small orders of soup and curry, we proceeded to wait for upwards of an hour before the confused looking waiter gave us something that sounded like he said«lentils» as a pittance for waiting so long. They were delicious with the sauces provided. However, this does not make up for the ridiculous hour and 15 minute wait for two bowls of soup, some rice and some chicken curry. Not even close. The waiter did seem apologetic however and it should be noted that they seemed understaffed. I have to say though, the food was a very pleasant surprise. The curry had a slight hint of ginger that added very nicely to the overall dish. It seemed to be served at about perfect temperature and it gave off a healthy orange glow. If this is indicative of most Indian food than I will be trying the local flavors out much more often. I will probably go back to this place, but not a third time if the service continues to lack.

Went here for a friend’s birthday. Good food, mediocre service. The water glasses are metal(copper?) and made the water have a metallic taste. They also weren’t clean. My tandoori chicken was moist and flavorful, if not a little too red-made me suspect the use of food coloring. The restaurant has two main dining areas and is well-sized for groups. It’s in the far back side of the building that houses Legal Seafoods. I had some trouble finding the place and had to make a rather dumb call from the parking lot to ask where it was. There’s plenty of parking in the back as well.

My friend always raves about it, so we decided to give Bollywood Grill a shot. Honestly, I don’t know how this place sustains its Unilocal rating of 3.5 stars. I was very unimpressed. Bland, bland, and more bland. To be brief and succinct, the food was lacking and so was the service. We waited over 15 minutes to get our drink order filled, and there was really no excuse because the joint wasn’t jumping. The food was slow to arrive as well, and when it finally did make an appearance, the result was extremely disappointing — and cold. Seriously, it wasn’t even lukewarm. We ordered the malai koftha and the tandoori swordfish that was on special for our entrees, to share. We also asked for them medium-spicy because my friend didn’t want to get burned. For those of you who do not like spicy food, this is the place to be, because there wasn’t even a hint of spice anywhere. Seriously. The fish was overcooked. The malai koftha, a dish that is supposed to be rich and flavorful, was runny and flat. Nothing going on anywhere. We ordered the Indian ice cream for dessert, and that was absolutely disgusting. It was encrusted with about an inch of freezer burn and tasted as if someone had emptied an entire canister of cardamom into it. Somehow, despite the overwhelming infusion of cardamom grit, the ice cream had little taste or flavor to it. The pistachios were gummy and chewy. This is by far the worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten. I will not be returning!

I was in the Boston area for a weekend and a couple of my friends recommended this place for lunch. We met up and decided to eat the food. The lunch buffet was good. The food was warm and nice. The naan were good too. The curries were bland and ordinary though, nothing out of the world or spicy enough. The gulab jamun were the best I have had in any indian restaurant. Overall the food was good. I don’t know why but I cant get myself to give it five stars.

The lunch buffet is very decent, but every time I eat here, I wish that I had just driven the extra 15 minutes to go to Singh’s Café in Wellesley. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with the food here. In fact, the relative blandness of the food here might make it a great place to take friends who need to be broken in to Indian food. The flavors aren’t too intense, and the buffet always includes lots of chicken, as opposed to goat and other less familiar meats. Service is always a bit slow, and they serve the water in weird metal cups that impart an undesirable flavor.

Wow. I can’t believe this place is rated so well. The Good Stuff: The ambiance in nice. Chic but comfortable. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The kitchen was fast, but then, it was fairly empty when we arrived despite it being at 8pm on a Saturday night. Everything Else: Despite the friendliness of our server, he was slow. Molasses slow. We waited for him to come and greet us. Waited forever for him to take our order. He checked on us once during our meal. Took forever to come clear our plates so we could ask for our check. Took forever to bring us our check after we requested it. Took forever to come and get the check after he left it and took another little slice of forever to process the transaction and bring us change. It was FREEZING in there. Despite us stating that we were freezing several times and half the patrons sitting with their arms wrapped about themselves, it remained freezing throughout our meal. To combat the freezing, I ordered Chai. It was not Chai. It was Masala tea with too much cream. There were no spices of any kind. Most boring Chai ever, and I love Chai and I’ve had a lot of different Chais in a lot of different places. If I wanted plain tea, I’d have ordered that. Still, it was hot and I was cold, so I drank it. The tap water was horrendous and the copper cup gave it a harsh metallic taste. I don’t know whether it’s the age of the cup or how clean it was, but it was AWFUL. In India, everything comes in steel or copper cups, pretty much and they don’t affect the taste of the water, so I don’t know. Maybe it was the pipes. Horrid. We started our meal with Cheese Pakoras. They weren’t very flavorful but the chutneys were well made. We then shared Chicken Madras and Goan Fish Curry. The menu made the chicken seem exciting, but it was bland and boring. We as some point asked for some something to heat it up and we were brought a red sauce in a little ramekin, which we quickly determined was just Frank’s Red Hot. The fish was a little better. The coconut milk base rounded out the curry and made it taste almost Thai. My companion and I also shared Chapati and Missi Roti. The Chapati had a nice texture but the Missi Roti was desperately lacking flavor. I could see the cilantro, but I couldn’t taste it. Had the service been more prompt, I’d probably have swayed to a 3 star review, but this was clearly a 2 star experience.

Quite possibly the best Indian food I’ve had outside of India! The décor is really cool, the menu theme is Bollywood based and is quite confusing honestly. But the food, wow, the food is just unbelievably tasty and authentic. It reminded me of the food from back home. We had grilled chicken, vegetable biryani, royal chicken curry and raita. Rasmalai was good, but not great. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean. They have an interesting cocktail menu that I didn’t get to try. I’m definitely going back for more! Maybe catch an IMAX movie before/after. I only wish this were in Boston and not all the way out in Framingham.
