Valentines date. We hadn’t been here in a while and WOW, has it improved! Food was OUTSTANDING! We had to ask our server«What’s different?» Apparently we missed the memo that they had changed hands. We will certainly be back. Everything was fresh and perfectly spiced(not TOO hot) Much recommend the pineapple curry WITH the pineapple rice — so much more we want to try, it will take several trips to work our way through the menu.

I loved this place as Mai Thai Restaurant, but it’s now under new ownership as Mai Thai Bistro. The food still tastes good but the prices went way up. Ordered yellow curry and it always has come with a side of rice. I even went to this restaurant in person and ordered this and it came with rice a little over a week ago, but tonight I ordered online to-go and it did not come with rice… But costs the same! The person on the phone was rude when I called to ask why there was no rice in my delivery(that was 20 minutes late with no call or explanation). They also spilled my drink all over the inside of the food bag. Long story short, food still tastes good but it is now over priced and service is poor.

Ordered the Pad Thai lunch special off their lunch menu for $ 8 something. The lunch specials include a side salad and and steamed rice for the items that are applicable. Pad Thai doesn’t come with the rice. Placed a phone order 15 minutes prior to picking up the item and they had it ready and hot at the counter waiting for me. Pad Thai: — Actual big chunks of tofu instead of the little pieces that other Thai places offer. — They give you spice options for the item! Other places only gives you an option for their side spices. — Not too sweet. — Bean sprouts are stir fried into the Pad Thai so it makes it easier to consume, they still have their crunch so its not too bad. — Good sized portion for a lunch item. Side Salad: — dressing: a thicker consistency with a honey mustard flavor served on the side, which doesn’t make my greens soggy. — Comes with carrot slices and purple cabbage. Service: — Friendly and fast service. — Came in during lunch around 1pm & there was only one table with 2 patrons having their lunch. I have had better Pad Thai dishes, the only down side is the lacking«Pad Thai» flavor, but it isn’t bad!

Came here last week for an early lunch with my boyfriend. We had the chicken satay and golden pouch as an appetizer, it was just ok… We had the pineapple rice as well and it had way too much spices or curry in it, the smell was just too strong! Service was whatever to be honest, I honestly think they need to be retrained. The Asian guy with ear gages thinks like his on a run way, who obviously looks like he doesn’t wanna be there. When he was taking our order, he obviously wasn’t confident and doesn’t know the menu very well. With his girl co worker, they just kept on Chit-chatting on the counter without checking the statuses of their customer…

Very saucy dishes, other than that exceptional food. Service is great, interior is very modern and nice. However it is very dark in the restaurant. Other than that good food but very sauce orientated

Mai Thai had been around here for over 10 years, we were regulars when it was owned by a Thai couple, it was always full of customers, then for whatever reason it was sold to a young Thai lady who probably grew up in the US and things started to change, the 3rd owner might not even be Thai, it was going downhill fast and finally closed. We were passing by and noticed Mai Thai had reopened under new ownership and decided to order some take out. Boat noodle: tasty broth with meat balls and rare beef slices, the veggies were broccoli and celery? these were not Thai vegetables! they did have some bean sprouts. Chicken larb: minced chicken seasoned with lime juice, onions, rice powder and mint, delicious but too spicy, I will request it less hot the next time, it should be served with fresh and crunchy cabbage but they subtituted it with lettuce so it was not authentic. I rated today experience as a 3 stars when I really wanted to rate as a 3.5 stars if there was such option in Unilocal, perhaps Unilocal will add that option in the future?. The take out menu specified that free Thai tea would be included with every take out order but hey, Mai Thai, where was mine? The menu was 4 pages long with mouth watering Thai dishes, soups and deserts! they also had a full bar, we will definitely be back.

Got delivery from here the other night, just a simple yellow curry and some sweet and sour pork for the Fiancé(along with some rice, don’t forget the rice!). Delivery said 45 – 60 minutes but it was only about 30 and the delivery driver was super courteous and called like we asked in the special instructions. The curry was amazing, and just the right amount of spicy on the spicier option. They give you plenty for the price and i was able to eat it for lunch the next day too. The Fiancé liked his sweet and sour pork okay, but he doesn’t like many different kinds of food very much. We will definitely order from here again.

Mai Thai is now MaiThai Bistro. We went there for lunch. We noticed the décor is different. We came to realize that Mai Thai is now under new management with new menu. The update of the restaurant made the restaurant looks newer and cleaner. Brand new menu, got a lot more dishes to choose from. We ordered drunken noodle and ginger beef. The lunch special came with salad, no more soup and egg roll =(Both dishes were very tasty and flavorful. We will come back to try other dishes!!!

Just got lunch delivered. They deliver to businesses! The food was ok. Not awesome, not awful. A good dose of heat in the medium level. I felt like there wasn’t a lot of flavor, it was just hot. I wouldn’t mind another handful of peanuts and maybe a little more sauce or something. I might try it again. Maybe take a bite out of some pineapple fried rice or something.

I live close by, so this is my go to place for Thai food! Sometimes it can be a miss, but usually it’s a hit! I usually get the Thai Fried Rice, Crying Tiger, Pad See Ew, and Pad Thai. I’ve tried the Pineapple Fried Rice before and it’s delicious, but I usually never order it. The people who work here are always nice and friendly! Great customer service. I order delivery sometimes, but if you want the food right away, pick it up because the delivery can be long, even though I’m only 2 minutes away. Come during lunch for the lunch specials!

I have been really enjoying Thai food lately. So I thought I’d give this place a try. I was very very pleasantly surprised. While they don’t give you free thai tea like Thai Gulf does, the food was just as excellent. I thought the thing that set this place ahead of all the other type places in fountain Valley was the service. I am a big water drinker, and something I really appreciate in restaurant service is how quickly they refill water. The server, who I think may have also been the owner, was very very polite and attentive. We had the pineapple fried rice, yellow curry with shrimp, and pad see ew. Which were all amazing and served with a veggie soup, and Gyoza(if You order as the dinner special). Price was about $ 10 a plate and The portions were larger than any other Thai place I’ve been to. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy Thai.

Time to serve the food was less than ten mins. The waiter was courteous and checked in often to our table. In the spicy black pepper chicken dish I ordered, the vegetables were fresh, cooked and seasoned well. The chicken as well. Beautifully prepared dish.

Mai Thai is total gem! I ate here for the first time today for lunch with a co-worker. She was in the mood for Thai and sadly to say this was not our first choice, but will be from now on. The restaurant is located off Magnolia and Talbert, inside an opening shopping center. It’s a little hidden but a decent size inside. The lunch specials are $ 6.95 per person and portions are generous. I couldn’t finish my dish because it was a lot of food. It was not crowded, about 1:25pm this afternoon, so finding a seat was not a problem. There are no pictures of the dishes so you have to gamble a bit. To paint you a picture, it’s one plate with salad, egg roll, rice and the entrée(if a rice dish). My friend ordered the Bamboo Shoots while I had the Red Curry. The server gives you an option of how spicy 1 – 5. I went with 5, as spicy as possible, but a little disappointed because I expected more. The flavors were all there, but I wanted more spice. The beef with the red curry mixed with rice just hit the spot. The salad dressing was good, not overpowering and the dish just went well. My friend was picking at my dish because she liked the red curry sauce. Delicious food! Service was great. The server checked on to ensure we were having a pleasant stay. $ 15 for two people, definitely a steal. I plan on coming back sometime soon.

Great lunch special deal! This place offers lunch for $ 6.95 plus tax and there is a variety of items to choose from. If you check in with Unilocal, you get a free Thai Tea drink! The lunch happy hour special is 11 am to 3 pm. Give it try!

I was craving some pad see ew and hubby was nice enough to go pick it up for me before heading out so I Unilocaled somewhere close to home to save him time. So I come across Mai Thai, call, and place my order. You can’t really go wrong with noodles right? Wrong. The pad see eww was not pan seared, no pan char I love, large pieces of cabbage and American broccoli that had a pool of sauce on the bottom. I don’t know about you but I expect Chinese broccoli in there with a pan seared dry noodle. Their take out menu stating, «O.C.‘s best thai food, «made me chuckle a bit. Sorry but I won’t be ordering or dining here again. I’ve attached a photo so you can see what I’m taking about. To not be too negative their prices are reasonable and order was ready as stated.

WOW, the food portion is awesome, the price is cheap, the service is nice, there’s a $ 10 for $ 15 deal on Unilocal, everything just sounds way too good to be true! Well it was and I should have known that there would be a major downfall to it all. First off, the food quality isn’t good. My table got the Lunch Specials Kung Pao Chicken, Red Curry, Pad See Ew, Bamboo shoots, and Pad thai. Ok, from the first two plates there were no major complaints(Red curry only had 4 pieces of meat in it), but the last 3 was a big no no! All the rice from the dishes that had them, were either too hard or too moist. I AIN’T NOGOLDILOCKS. Just gimme the normal one. –Cries– –Pad See Ew noodles were under cooked so they weren’t soft and moist like they’re supposed to be. It was hard and unflavored. Very big disappointment there. –Pad Thai was plain too, even though the portion was large, my brother had to pour 3 sweet and sour sauce cups into it to make it taste even slightly good. –Bamboo Shoots lists that it has green beans, but not a bean in sight my friend! My beef was also chewy and I found a couple burnt pieces. I mean you can mess up on other dishes, I’m cool with that, but how can you mess up on the signature Thai dishes!!! Note: You can’t combine the Thai tea offer with the $ 10 for $ 15. One offer per table.
