Came by for lunch the other day and it was an ok experience. Being on the Peninsula, I guess this was decent, by Peninsula standards… nowhere near the quality of Vietnamese cuisine in East San Jose! Ordered the #1 Special with Rare steak on the side and it was okay. The broth was okay to warm up the raw steak and eat with the noodles, but did have a weird aftertaste to just consume by itself. Meats were tender and noodles were okay, after loosening them all up from the bottom of the bowl! The iced Vietnamese coffee was also okay. Not as good as the ones in East San Jose… but okay by Peninsula standards! Service was lightening fast! My order was taken before I sat down and the food was out within 5 minutes! Credit cards accepted for $ 10+ purchases! ~$ 16/person after tax and gratuity for lunch!

Food is only ok had better but if your really hungry then this will do. The phở steak is super tasteless and the soup it self has a different aroma not your typical phở. If you had better Vietnamese before then you will get really disappointed. White people think its great to eat here but I don’t think they have experienced better and don’t have that Asian taste.

Ok food. I have had better phở and grilled pork chop. But if you are hungry, this’ll do. Service is… What service? Don’t expect any service here. Location is great. Plenty of parking. Restaurant looks clean but the table stank, probably because the cleaning rag was stinky. Update: I had previously had phở and grilled pork chop here. It was… meh! Tables still stank. I went there again yesterday because I was in the vicinity and my daughter wanted to have smoothie with tapioca pearls. Turns out they sell those there now. We ordered one, I think strawberry kind. Here’s the thing: it was again… meh! In fact, not good at all. The cost was $ 5+. You can get better smoothie with tapioca pearls for less money at «The Bambu» in San Mateo downtown. Don’t feel like going all the way to San Mateo downtown and stay in Foster City? Try, T-pump near Safeway Store. Both are better than this place’s smoothie.

The quality of this restaurant has declined drastically. We asked for some more veggies for our phở and the waiter said we had enough to share. How rude of him. We told him again we like some more and he said that we had to share, then walked away. Then fish sauce for the bun was so bland. It tasted watered down. My cousin ordered the chicken and shrimp bun bowl and it came with one and a half slices of chicken and 3 pieces of shrimp. This was very disappointing. I will not come back to this place. There are plenty of other restaurants to eat from that are waaaay better than this.

I used to eat here a couple times a month until the day I walked in and a roach crawled across my menu that did it for me! I just walked out?! I mean if roaches have made it out to the table just imagine the kitchen… no thanks!

I normally eat phở in SJ so this review might not be fair. However, I still have to say that the phở is just okay. The small bowl is literally a small! I know I shouldn’t be eating big portions but dammn… The soup had enough flavor but the noodles were a little undercooked for my liking. There wasn’t as much beef in my phở but my hunger was satisfied. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place but if it’s Friday, close to noon, and you have a meeting at 1PM, then Phở New Saigon is the perfect place to get a quick fix.

I have been back here a few times now, and the food never disappoints! The beef broth Phở is hearty and hot and so yummy that you can feel the soup goodness through your veins and cures all diseases(better than chicken soup!). Spring rolls are perfectly fries, and the grill pork rice vermicelli is a generous portion of tender meat and noodles. You cannot skip the ice Vietnamese coffee that is silky smooth and sweet. Awesome place at a cheap price!

I came into this place for lunch with friends. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli while my friends tried the phở. The service was fast and straightforward. Food was okay. I didn’t think it was that much better or different from any other Vietnamese restaurant. It is nice to have Vietnamese restaurant in the Foster City Area. Fast and cheap sums up the experience.

I come to this restaurant often, I think the prices are pretty reasonable. The food tastes good as well. I usually like ordering number one, the phở noodles. They come in 2 sizes, small and large. I find that usually the large doesn’t have much more noodles than the small, it is honestly just more soup. You basically pay 2 dollars more for soup, but that is just what I think. I personally don’t drink the soup so I usually just get the small. I really like the food in general the fresh shrimp spring rolls are really good, they do taste fresh. Today I went and the power was out which I thought was odd, I was able to look into the kitchen from my seat and noticed that the workers were working in the back. There was only some light. I was kind of concerned about my food and how it was being refrigerated. I noticed that people had to use their phones flashlight to use the bathrooms. I wish that they could have provided some more light in the store not only for customers but also employees. The door had to be open, the restaurant felt a bit cold, but for safety they couldn’t close it. I also wanted to mentions that they didn’t have a sign up anywhere saying that it was cash only for the day because the lights were off. I walked in and kind of had to assume that there was no power, I overheard the employees telling another customer that there was no power. When it came to paying I was worried that i wouldn’t have enough money. I really wish that they had a sign up, I am glad that I had some money though. Some people don’t carry cash, so I thought it would have been nice it they at least put up a sign. Even though there was no lights I understand there is nothing that they could have done. I am personally not gonna hold this against them, they served good food, and were nice and friendly considering their situation. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant. They served good food and I enjoyed it.

If your establishment says you close at 9 pm then why shut your doors and say you’re closed at 8:30pm?

They really should change their hours to 11am opening time, because EVERY time I come here at 10am(hour they say they are open) they are not open! One of my biggest pet peeves! So FYI, if you’re an early bird and you come here hungry expecting them to be open for business, at the time they advertised to be, be warned you will end up being VERY hangry! The phở is decent, not bad but definitely not worth waiting for when you’re hungry! Go somewhere else where they open on time!

Perfect bowl sizes, great price, restaurant was quiet, very clean. The phở was cooked to perfection, the ingredients were fresh, the meat was perfect. Definitely, will be coming back to eat.

Been here a couple of times for a weekend lunch, and while it can get busy, we’ve never had to wait for a table. Usually get the phở which is decent. The Vietnamese iced coffee is one of the better ones in the Bay area in that the coffee is a little stronger and not overly sweetened or diluted by the condense milk. Also had the grilled pork and spring rolls fresh rice vermicelli noodles today — grilled pork was super tasty and juicy. Good place for a quick Vietnamese meal

3.5 stars, really. Cheap, Yummy & Quick. I’m a big fan of Phở New Saigon. My Dad & I frequent this place often as it is really close to our house. They give HUGE portions for a really cheap price. I usually get a small rare steak phở & I can barely finish it. The broth is really flavorful & hot, plus they give all the normal accessories that I love adding to my phở — basil, cilantro, bean sprouts & jalapeño. I’ve also had the BBQ chicken over rice noodles, which is really good with the mixture of hot & cold ingredients. I also love the fried rolls with sweet sauce. Great place for a quick & tasty bite in FC — I recommend it for lunch or dinner! Sit in or Take Out — both ways are really quick & yummy.

Went back again yesterday This place is actually pretty good! Got the spicy noodles(#38, Bún bò Hu) – the entire bowl of soup is red, but it’s actually not spicy at all! The portions were great, and there’s nothing like a huge bowl of noodles after intense morning exercises. My friend got the rice dish, and added random items on top, like KFC chicken, spring rolls, and an egg(see photo). Just looking at the photo makes me mouth waters Definitely worth going back again!

I don’t understand how all these people are praising this place. I mean it’s not bad… But it’s not great. The food was like most other phở places I’ve been to, meaning it was good. I had a vermicelli bowl and I liked it a lot. But the biggest drawbacks from this place was the price versus quantity. Unless I can recall another time that I can remember, this was the most expensive Phở place I’ve ever been to in the area. Most of the dishes were just under $ 10. For a Phở place, that’s expensive. Even with the higher price, I was surprised at the lack of the quantity of food. I finished my dish within a couple of minutes and it barely filled me up! My family(5 people) ordered 4 dishes, which is usually enough for all of us… But we finished all of the dishes and we could’ve all eaten more food! That to me is what brought this place down… Bottom Line: This place has good food, no doubt. But compared with the price that it offers combined with the lack of the quantity of the food… Not a great place… There are plenty of other Phở places that you can go to other than this place. Wouldn’t suggest coming here.

The first few times i came to this spot, i was pretty unimpressed. There were a few ‘operational’ issues w/the service. It was enough to keep me away from one of my favorite foods for months on end. Eventually, i said«screw it, i don’t care if they pour me phở from a can»… i wanted some«phuckin’ phở»!!! Duh-dun-chaaaah… I went a few more times and some things stayed the same, but some things got better. Most importantly, the food. Some nights are better than others, but overall… the food has gotten waaay better over the last few months. Like, exponentially better. I find myself there for two reasons now. The food, and quite possibly the most beautiful woman i’ve ever laid eyes on. Ever. Not gonna lie, i mostly go there for a solid bowl of soup… but i secretly hope she’s working every time i walk in the door. She is VERY sweet, and she makes an already good bowl if soup 10x better. A lady this hot, MUST be spoken for but i haven’t had a crush on a girl like this… ever. She is maybe 24 –25 years old, and anyone who has seen her will know exactly who I’m writing about. Stunning this woman is, and some day, hopefully i can stop being such a weenie and chat her up. I just get super shy around literally the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen… Okay, back the food! I like my phở pretty simple. Just the ‘rare steak’ version is the one i usually get, but the chx version is good too. Not as good as the ‘Chx Noodle Soup’ @ ‘Tea Plus Noodle’ in Burlingame… but its good for a change every now and then. The ‘spring rolls’ and ‘fresh rolls’ are good on days when im extra hungry too. I like the ‘bun’ or ‘noodle bowls’(what us Round Eyes call ‘em) on hot days. I am gonna try the ‘Bun Bo Hue’ one if these nights. I feel like thats a pretty popular dish nowadays so im down to see what all the fuss is about. Oh! And they have Viet Coffee and smoothies here too. I’ve never had ‘em, but saw someone order a few to go a few nights ago and they looked good. I did manage to ask my future wifey what her favorite drink was, and surprisingly she said ‘Avocado’ was one of her favorites. Sounds kinda crazy, but i bet its damn good. Next time… I have played it pretty safe and stuck with pretty tame menu selections, but im gonna start exploring some new number/letter combos on their 3x page menu. In conclusion, check this place out. Don’t be off-put by stupid reviews written by entitled Unilocalers and if you stick to the Viet restaurant basics, you can’t go wrong. And last, to the pretty lady whose name escapes me, i think you are just THE cutest, THE nicest and THE friendliest gal around… ANY restaurant would be lucky to have you around!

Hm I’m surprised that I haven’t written a review for this place yet. Nothing fancy here, but my fiancé and I love coming here for phở. I don’t think I’ve ever tried their rice plates here, but the pictures on the wall always look really yummy. Phở New Saigon is located in the Ranch 99 plaza in Foster City, so there is always plenty of parking when we come for dinner. The place can get busy sometimes but there are always seats available so you never have to wait and they are super fast! One time we got our food within like 3 minutes of ordering. For phở, you can choose a small or large bowl depending on your appetite. I usually get the small bowl and it is more than enough to fill me up. My go-to is the #1, which is a bit of everything. My fiancé usually gets another one without tripe. We’ve also had the fresh spring rolls here — very yummy! Always hard to resist ordering it when we’re here(even though we’re trying to eat less for dinner). The peanut sauce is sweet and yummy and the fresh rolls are a good balance of pork and shrimp. I’ve actually come here a few times just to do a bulk order of their spring rolls for parties. Always a hit! Only thing is that any leftovers don’t always taste as good since the rice wrapper gets hard. But if eaten the same day, yums! Writing this is making me hungry. Now I want some phở.
