The corn and hot pepper soup is a must-have. It’s got just enough of a kick to wake your taste buds up and to cut into the tartness of the margaritas. As for the marg, I’m not usually into those of the frozen variety, but Yucatan makes a damn good one. Get the nachos to share with a friend. Myself and one other have yet to finish a plate between the two of us. If you can get on the patio, do so. The seating inside tends to be a bit crowded. Four stars simply because it’s pretty good Tex-Mex, but doesn’t push the bar too much.

This is our go to place for grilled veggie nachos. It’s a HUGE sharable serving, great price, and their garlic aioli is AMAZING!

So after ordering brunch at the counter we sat in a booth and noticed it a little sticky… a little smelly… A few flies flying around… And looking at the tequila flight picture, started to think we may have made a wrong decision…(My husband doesn’t remember but we had been here with friends years ago before making our way over to the Usual for more drinks and this seems like more of an evening place). Once food arrived though my 2 – 3 star impression quickly settled at 4. Breakfast tacos and pancakes with jam were yummy and filling. Service was attentive without being annoying. Although it’s been years since we were here for a late dinner with friends it still looks like a fun place. I think we’ll be back!

The food was great. Seriously, my nachos were the best I’ve had in a while. And definitely would feed two. I brought home the leftovers. That’s where the good part of my review ends, and it is here that I would recommend maybe only getting takeout here and to check your receipt and order carefully. This is a Sunday night, they were slow customer wise: The service was sub-par. I can be pretty easy about things, but I can’t stand it when my order gets messed up. We ordered two meals and two drinks. I’m not sure if the cashier was either brand new, or just ignoring us. She kept turning around to talk to somebody behind her and I couldn’t hear what she was saying, and the other person had to keep stopping whatever they were doing and walk up to her so that they too could hear her, and would point to something, possibly the register. She missed one of our drinks, but we didn’t realize that at first. I’ll get to that. The restaurant is overcrowded in terms of tables and walking space. It was a struggle to walk between the tables when they were empty, I can only imagine if they’d been full. The music was also too loud, and the entire place was overly dark. Also it smells like a bowling alley that used to allow smoking years ago, I’m assuming that blows in from the outside patio. We ordered first out of a group of five, for a total of three tickets. Our food took the longest to arrive, delayed by about 5 minutes, which doesn’t make sense to me. I watched as a waitress delivered a drink to someone in our party, and she spilled a decent amount of it before getting to the table(partly because of the close quarters, partly because she wasn’t paying enough attention to the drink). Once all the food was finally delivered we were asked if we were waiting on anything, and we indicated that my wife was still waiting on her drink. The guy asked if we «needed» it, or if we ordered it. We told him we ordered it, and he said okay and walked away. He didn’t return. We finally dug out the receipt and saw that the waitress didn’t add it to the ticket. About 20 – 30 minutes later the guy returns and asks if we needed anything(we still had our table numbers sticking up) and we told him about the drink mixup. He asked if we wanted to order one then(about 45 minutes after we were there, probably more). We declined saying it had taken too long. We ended up splitting the Tequila Smash I had ordered which was only okay, and entirely too overpriced. I’d expected a bigger drink from the pictures online. I also didn’t like that you have to order almost as soon as you step inside, not from the table, but that may just be my pet peeve. Bottom line: Didn’t like the venue, didn’t like the service. Loved the nachos, would definitely order take out again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere of this restaurant. I grew up in Fairmount neighborhood I am so happy to see great places like this on Magnolia. My son had the steak nachos and I had the spicy tequila shrimp bowl. Both dishes were very hearty portions. I also had a frozen margarita that was very delicious. The day we went was beautiful weather wise so the patio was to capacity. The inside décor was very clean and pleasant. It was our first time and the staff was very helpful and efficient.

The food was ok, nothing really stands out, a bit disappointed with my fish tempura dinner salad, the Batter was like regular fried fish and not tempura batter and a bit over cooked, however the shrimp taco was delicious, service was slow and poor, you have to yell to get attention, the place was packed and noisy.

I ordered a item that they ran out of. I tried to get a refund and the manager argued with me. He did not even know that they were out of it. Service is slow and dismal. We enjoyed the food but will not go back. The inside was dark and smelly. They need to clean up their act.

The food is great! The dishes are all beautifully done and have fantastic presentation. The only complaint and this is a big one for me. Sound. The dining inside is so awful loud(poor acoustics) that if we can’t eat outside on the patio I will choose another place to eat. Food wise! It’s wonderful. The chips and Guacamole are delish!

Decent food, solid price, huge portions. I can only speak to what I had — the nachos were pretty great. They were way more than any one person can each so come hungry. The place has huge windows so during the day depending on were you eat you may get blinded –watch out for where you sit.

I’m not sure if they’re under new management or what, but thank god things have changed around here. Food continues to be good, but now the margaritas are ALWAYS on point and service has improved leaps and bounds! I think maybe they just didn’t know how to handle the crowds before, but either way, there are changes to this place that are noticeable and have made me place Yucatan back on my mental«Top Taco Joints» list. There are still a few nitpicks — my friend and I always groan if we see anyone set up for a live set, because the volume continues to be way, way too loud. There’s no reason to use concert volume levels to play in a restaurant on a weeknight, especially where there’s only 6 – 7 tables seated indoors. Also, I’ve unfortunately had to stop ordering the shrimp taco; the shrimp here is so delicious, but they only put four itty bitty shrimp in their tacos. When I asked if I could get more to put in my skimpy taco, the guy just told me they weren’t allowed to because they were only allowed to put four in. What a waste of money! Opt for the chicken or pork instead; they’ll happily load up your taco and it won’t cost you an extra $ 0.75.

UPDATE: Adding some stars after trying some other places in downtown Ft Worth. I’m moving to Ft Worth, and I decided to try this place out since I’m a Taco doode. ****I’m in a bit of affliction writing this, because I’m torn between TWO-stars and THREE-stars. ============== T H E T A C O S: ============== I had three tacos, Tempura Fish, Ground Sirloin and Tequila Lime Chicken. They were very so so. I’d compare them to Fuzzy Taco.(I’m not a fan of Fuzzy’s) ============== T H E T O R T A: ============== The Fish torta was actually really good. So this made us(me and my wife) wonder, «Maybe Yucatan is known for other things?» We looked around and noticed almost everyone getting NACHOS. ============== F I N A L T H O U G H T: ============== We plan on returning and trying other dishes. It was not a terrible joint at ALL! I think I may revert my TWO-Stars to THREE. I’m torn … Maybe my standards are to high?

Amazing chips and queso! Warm and perfectly seasoned unlike any Mexican restaurant around. I tried the spicy tequila shrimp bowl and it was delicious. It has rice and black beans at the bottom and a mixture of tortilla strips and veggies mixed in. Just a tip though, don’t pour too much hot sauce like I did. Just a little is enough to give it the extra kick it needs. The inside was comfortable, but definitely smelled divey… I guess like a bar. LOL Otherwise, great atmosphere. We will be back!

This was my first time to the Yucatán Taco Stan, and I had a very good experience. We came in the afternoon on a Saturday and the service line was still busy. My +1 ordered the watermelon margarita, I had a Rahrs Winter Warmer, and we split chips in case so. The case so is white cheddar, creamy and delicious! The chips were fresh and nicely seasoned. My introduction to Yucatán was it a chili cook off where they brought my favorite recipe. Apparently they only bring that to competitions, and don’t offer it on the menu. Too bad because it was amazing! Otherwise, service was friendly and attentive. I look forward to sampling more of the menu here.

Went in late on a Sunday night and was pretty empty. They have a huge menu filled with delicious sounding items. We ordered a veggie Cuban sandwhich that comes with fried plantains. The sandwhich was good and big enough to share. The hot sauce was amazing with it. The sauce added just a little heat but a lot of flavor. The fried plantains were really good. They were thin and crispy. They came with a delicious creamy aioli. The girl that took our order was friendly and nice. We will go back to try some of their other menu items.

It’s like people say – SHARETHENACHOS. I, too, was almost deterred by the order-at-the-counter aspect, but it’s totally fine. Someone brings you your order – drinks first usually – and it’s easy to go re-order more. We’ve been a couple times on the weekend, and it can get fairly busy and noisy, but evenso, nothing a wee baby would be upset by and you can(mostly) hear your own conversations. There is also a decent outdoor area with some umbrellas, but it’s mostly for larger groups as well as high-top tables, so it can fill up pretty fast. Overall, really decent prices and grub! The house margarita was very decent, but no Gloria’s.

Their frozen screwdriver cocktail is amazing but deadly. This drink is soooo strong every time I’ve ordered it. It starts out super thick and frozen and the glass is all frosty, and you basically need a spoon to eat it. Then it begins to melt and you can more easily slurp it down, and before you know it it’s empty and the vodka has hit you and you’re ordering extra food to combat the booze. That vicious cycle is one of the reasons I’m a Yucatan Fan. Another big reason is for their yucca fries + garlic aioli. They’re absolutely delicious, the perfect texture(crispy on the outside and soft, almost creamy on the inside), and incredibly hot. The cool dip is the perfect condiment. I’m also a fan of the burrito bowls and the whole order and pay at the counter system. It’s all very casual but the food is excellent quality and comes out in huge portions. Great bar, awesome happy hour prices, tequila varietals galore, and cute comfy patio in suitable weather.

While cruising down Magnolia Ave. one weekend evening it was evident that the Yucatan was popular. The patio was absolutely packed and there was zero parking options. We knew we had to come back another time. Made our return the following weekend(lunch trip) and had no hassle finding a parking spot and getting to the restaurant. The menu was larger than I was anticipating– there are several varieties of tacos and burritos, there are bowls, salads, sides, etc. We ordered the house roasted salsa and chips– the wifey went with a lime chicken bowl and I ordered the garlic beef tacos. The bambino went with a cheese quesadilla and fries. The tacos are very large and stuffed with your meat of choice. I ordered two and was pleasantly full after finishing my plate. I love my tacos in fresh corn tortillas(check) and topped with something crunchy(check– they had cabbage and radish). There was some sort of white magic sauce that was full of garlic– yummy. My wife’s bowl looked really good and she loved it. Unexpectedly, the Yucatan plates their food with real china — and it looks great! The loudspeakers were cranking out cool jams(MGMT, Bahamas, Passion Pit, etc) and the vibe was really nice. I can see the attractiveness of sitting on the patio during a cool Texas evening, drinking a house margarita and people watching. Very cool place. Bring the family, bring the SO, take your friends –this place is pretty flexible to your group type. The menu is great, food is fantastic, prices are decent. They have a happy hour M-F 3−6p so you can save a few bucks on drinks that way. Make an effort to get out to the Yucatan Taco Stand if you can!

Went ahead and took a road trip from the Carrollton area all the way to Fort Worth and boy was it worth it. Been here a few times but hadn’t in about two years since I never work in the area any more. I got the beef nachos, ridiculous size portion for about $ 10 bucks, prolly could serve 2 – 3. My lady got two tacos, one fish, one chicken, enjoyed them both. My recommendation would be to come w two people and each order one taco and share a nacho. Only negative I saw on the nachos is it’s a little light on the beef. Good place overall though.
