Food is average. Wait time is 30 min. Worth it if it’s the closest korean craving is near you. Otherwise I’d rather go elsewhere.

This is my favorite Korean place to go to outside of a Korean area. There is better korean food in the DFW, but you would have to travel to Dallas or Carrollton and quite frankly I do not want to drive there all the time. I have tried a lot of the items on the menu and they are really good. They by far have the best fishcake in the area in my opinion. The kakdugi is also good and the kimchi is very ripe, the potato banchan is not really my thing, bean sprouts are really good, cucumber is also one of my favorites, the seaweed salad is not too bad, eggplant is okay, broccoli is alright, japchae is really good and this last time we got Gyeran Mari and I really liked it, I just wished it was room temperature and not cold. Usually when I go I get the Kimchi Jjigae or the Yukgaejang, both are super delicious. My only complaint is I wish the yukgaejang came in the ttukbaegi because the metal bowl it comes in doesn’t keep it as hot as I would like. The seolleongtang is also really great, it has a deep rich flavor and a nice peppery flavor. The mandu is okay, nothing too special. The ramen kind of tastes like shin ramyun but a little better(its not that spicy). The service here is hit or miss. The servers are nice but sometimes the wait for food is long and if you are there and other koreans are there, they are probably going to get their food before you. This has happened a couple of times, sometimes I think maybe they are regulars or maybe the kitchen just can prepare their stuff faster than the items I order. Either way I get my food and I get plenty of refills on banchans.

I came here with my boyfriend and a friend on a Saturday afternoon. About ¾ of the tables were full, and there were only 2 people working. Service was slow, but I expected that since it’s a family owned restaurant. We ordered the fried dumplings, #1(beef and vegetables in a beef broth), and bibimbap. Side dishes can be refilled 3 times even though they say it’s unlimited, and each person can get up to two bowls of rice for free. Portions are large and food was great! We will be coming back.

Walking in the first thing I notice is how they placed privacy dividers between the tables which is quite thoughtful. As for the food, the pork bugolgi was not very spicy and somehow a bit sweet which caught us off guard. The LA Galbi were very well made and tasted great. The tempura shrimp was just okay; nothing really special. Kimchi was pretty good, Kimchi Jigae was not my favorite, but was pleasant to eat. Service was good and the ambiance was quite calm which made for an enjoyable meal.

I love this place! I came here with my best friend and the food is amazing!!! I got the kimchi jjigae and she got the dolsot bibimbap. Both were perfect, they both come out in hot pots so they stay pretty warm throughout the meal. I love my food super spicy and the kimchi jjigae delivered perfectly! We also got fried dumplings as an appetizer and they were delicious and come with a really tasty dipping sauce! The sides that come with the meal are endless and wonderful!

This place has great tasting food, but a long wait. If you catch them when there are more than one or two waiters, you’re better off. It’s not the best choice for a quick lunch break when you need to get back to work. My favorite thing on the menu is the spicy bulgolgi with their free rice, miso soup, and side dishes.

The only reason I can’t give this place 5 stars is the service lacks a lot. Each time we’ve gone there are just two women having to hold the entire place down. This particular time we waited a good 15 – 20 minutes for a water refill :/ They have beer and wine which makes the waiting more enjoyable. I recommend the kimchi pancake as an appetizer. Some of the pieces come crispy and dark brown, those are the best pieces. The sauce with it is a soy green onion thing and it’s perfect. For supper we had spicy pork bulgogi, LA galbi, and the kimchi Dolsot Bibimbop. The spicy pork was a tad greasy but the flavor was fantastic and the pork was tender. It came with sticky rice. LA galbi or short ribs as we discovered are terrific. Twice we have been and twice they have been ordered. Really good texture to the meat, normal galbi flavor. That Bibimbop though. Be still my heart. The rice at the bottom gets a little crispy and the egg on top, whoa. It makes a magical sauce when stirred up with the other fixings. Add the Bibimbop sauce and make yours spicy. IF you have leftovers, I’ve heard it’s even good reheated but I don’t know personally because I eat the whole thing. Because ladylike. It’s not very cheap, at least not to me, for the kimchi pancake, Bibimbop, bulgogi, and two beers our tab was 60 bucks without tip. 60 bucks is weekend meal, not Tuesday night meal, but alas I was full and happy. They have a now hiring sign and if teaching doesn’t work out you can find me there. Eating my wages.

This place has wonderful, authentic Korean food. It doesn’t look like anything special, as its in a strip mall right off McCart street but you won’t regret taking a chance on Sam Won Garden. I’d recommend the dolsat bibimbop or the bulgogi; portions are HUGE and you get unlimited kimchi. If you order to go, they also include kimchi. Their food is reasonably priced; with two entrees and beers, our bill is usually about $ 30. The staff are wonderful! Lydia is incredibly welcoming, attentive, and fun!

Big Korean food fan here, and I try to hit as many Korean restaurants as I can if they are in the area I’m visiting. It’s a quiet, clean restaurant. Good service and polite waitress/waiter. I agree with most here that the spicy Bulgogi is wonderful. I would go back just for that dish. I also had a bowl of my favorite Korean soup which is made of beef short ribs and turnip soup(Galbitang) which was very good. The barley hot tea was soothing and overall, it was a wonderful meal. It is a bit pricey but not out of the norm for good Korean restaurants. Update: Now that I’ve been in the area for some time, I would put this easily top 2 of my favorite restaurants in the area. I’ve gone back several times.

I’ve been eating at Sam Won Garden for years now and the food is probably the best Korean option in Fort Worth(it used to be the only one.) I’ve never been displeased with the food and it’ll definitely satisfy your Korean craving. Not the best but not bad at all. It seems like they’re having some growing pains now that they’re getting more popular. There used to only be a couple of tables a night but it’s been full the last couple of times I’ve eaten here. Unfortunately, they haven’t made any additions to the staff to make up for this. It took over an hour for us to get our order of budae jigae, which requires no cooking. Our waitress was very apologetic though. We were also seated in a room with clothes, motor oil and boxes of random crap. There was an open table in the main dining section but no one available to clean it. They stayed open late and didn’t rush us to finish our food, which finally came out 15 minutes before closing. I hope they’re able to improve their service and keep up the quality of the food.

The food is always good here, but unfortunately, the service tonight was seriously UNACCEPTABLE. My family was completely taken aback that we got here around 7:30, ordered food immediately(1 appetizer, 4 main entrees), and waited an hour for our appetizer … When our entrees got out, we were needing extra side dishes, but nobody came to check on us. One of our orders was wrong as well. Our waitress was nothing but kind and apologetic, but they seriously need to hire more help staff. 1 waitress, 1 chef, and 1 bus boy CANNOT cover a Friday night rush. I’ve been to Sam Won several times, and the wait is usually long already and the food makes up for it. So it really saddens me to write this review, but I really hope someone who works there reads this and makes amends. This place used to be great, but service has tanked along with my business here.

They have raised their prices since the beginning of 2015 which I would’ve been okay with except for the fact that the quality of food has gone down as well unfortunately. They used to also give us rice for free but now charge $ 2 extra for adv extra bowl of rice. What the what? $ 1 I would be okay with maybe but $ 2? At typical Asian restaurants rice is refillable at zero charge. The potato side is almost always undercooked. Getting a refill on the banchan sides are always hard to get and the portions are never the same anymore for the galbi. Sometimes you barely get any meat. I really used to love this place but I doubt I’ll be going here very often anymore. I’d rather make the drive to Dallas where there are several other restaurants with better quality food that is a little pricier but ayce Korean bbq.

Solid 3 stars… second visit not as good as second… it IS Korean food in Fort Worth, but honestly, not sure the flavor and atmosphere brings me back for a third visit… wait staff was offish, not friendly, and food… Meh…yep…the definition of 3 stars… Meh… Having read Terry R and Eric W’s reviews, two reviews I respect, I will try again and update if next visit is better… BTW…check out Terry and Eric’s reviews… and rumor has it Marc M is back in DFW!

I’ll admit it, this was my first time trying Korean BBQ, so rating the food is a little out of my element. Sam Won Garden is a family run place with a quaint space, friendly staff, and average service speed. The dishes were plentiful and flavorful, but some were a bit complex for my palate. We tried a lot of different items, beef BBQ, pork belly, kimchee and beef, seafood pancake, and pan seared dumplings. The beef BBQ(bulgogi) and the pork belly were wonderful, and we liked the dumplings and the pancake. I wouldn’t reorder the kimchee and beef as it had a bitter aftertaste. The meal was served with a vast array of sides including kimchee, pickled bean sprouts and cucumbers, potatoes, fish strips, noodles, broccoli, and radishes. The sides were received with varying success depending on preference. Good experience that I am glad I tried. Would visit again to expand my horizons(and waistline).

Figured I would update my review on Sam Won Garden. It deserves 5 stars. I have been here several times since first trying it over a month ago. The food is always delicious and consistent! I love the Bulgogi. I’ve also had the LA Galbi, Spicy pork bulgogi, a spicy beef soup that I can’t remember the name of, and the spicy BBQ chicken. I haven’t had anything from here I didn’t like. I eat here or get it to go at least twice a week now. Sam Won has become my favorite Korean restaurant in Fort Worth!

This is the only true Korean restaurant that I’m aware of in Fort Worth. Lack of restaurant options is a downer, but at least this one is pretty tasty. Both ban chan and main entrees are done well, although I did find the LA Galbi a bit on the skimpy side. For lunch they offer some bento style lunches at a great price! The menu posted to Unilocal is not fully accurate, I asked about the combos that it illustrated, and was told they have never had this option! Sad times for a big Korean food eater like myself, but even without the combos, the prices are pretty reasonable. Feel free to unleash your inner fatty!
