I regularly make my way out here from Arlington for their tacos d’oro. That with the Anas dip queso is worth my gas. Anything with their unique taco meat is worth trying, and their chili rellenos are tops!

We went for lunch on a Friday. The services was great but the food was just average. I ordered the burrito with both fajita steak and chicken in it. It was missing something. Maybe a sauce on the top? The best thing we had was the white queso with spinach in it. There are other Mexican places in the area with better food. Not sure we will be back.

Awesome! I’ve eaten here since I was a kid and it is amazing! The enchilada dinner and Emilia’s queso is to die for! Thank you :)

In my opinion, food isn’t all that great(maybe 3 stars) but it’s authentic and we keep going for the atmosphere, great margaritas and it’s a local place that’s been around forever which is worth 5 stars. So averaged 4 stars. Love sitting outside!

Hands down, «The Best Cheese Enchiladas you can find.» Amazing tacos and good queso as well. This place has been around forever, and there is a reason they keep going strong. I come here for the enchiladas and tacos. I can find better fajitas elsewhere, other than that, I would give five stars.

I’ve been dining at The Original since 1967 and it is still the«go to» place for cheese enchiladas. Best cheese enchiladas and hot sauce in Texas, hence the World. A little pricey at $ 11.50BUT you get get all the fresh chips, hot sauce and steaming tortillas you can stand comp with your meal.

Not sure about the lower ratings. This is not only the best Tex-Mex in Fort Worth — it’s the best in all of DFW! The only issue I have is that I live in the Dallas area so don’t get to dine here as often as I would like. For sure, if in the area, it’s at the top of my list. Central Market carries their hot sauce so I can get a mini-fix if necessary. Great beef enchiladas, best refried beans around, the best guacamole we have found. What’s not to like? It’s rare I do a 5 Star — but this is up there — highly recommend.

When I was a kid I remembered liking this place, went back as an adult and it was pretty bad. Way better mexican food in fort worth.

A-V-E-R-A-G-E Don’t waste time with this place . Never has so much been made of so little. The margarita was great, but after that it was not good. Bland and tasteless is the flavor profile of most of the food. Carne asada was terrible, refried beans flavorless, enchilada was ok. The salsa has no kick at all, the guac tasted like baby food. The service was average at very best. Most of the tables were dirty when we arrived and stayed that way. Our food was Dead On Arrival, no telling how long it waited to be delivered, we had a hard crust on the rice and greasy layer over the beans due to the length of time it waited to be delivered Too many good places near by to return here. It gets 2 stars for a fabulous margarita. That’s it

I’m not impressed with this place. The chips are horrible and the hot sauce can’t be considered in the hot sauce category at all. I’m believing there are no good Mexican food places in Cowtown. The service was slow, the food was not that good and the drink prices were to high.

I’ve eaten here numerous times over the years. For me, this is one of the few really old mexican joints left in Fort Worth. What that means to me is «nothing but Tex Mex food». I usually go with the cheese enchiladas when I come in. Last visit had been a year or so ago. Nothing fancy here, just mostly your basic stuff. Remodel couple years ago changed the inside some, but it’s mostly like it always has been. Like I said, I go for the simple enchilada plate when I come here, and they always deliver, and it’s always the same. It’s basic, it’s tasty, and yea, sometimes it’s a little greasy, so what? It’s supposed to be. Honestly, if you want fancy, sterile«mexican» food, head on west a few more blocks and eat at the corporate chain place. The salsa is good, they serve it in one of those mini carafe thingy’s which means I don’t have to keep asking for it, I like that. It’s got a good flavor, not very hot, but I like it. Service this trip was friendly, fast, and efficient. Can’t complain. Used to come here for dinner more often, and last time I had any margarita’s they seemed pretty good to me. Can’t comment about current ones. Bar is bigger and nicer since the remodel. Patio looks nice. Only thing negative about the place for me is lack of parking. At least you can park on the street out back, if there’s no spaces open in front or back lots. It’s a four star for me. But if you’re coming in here expecting high end, fancy mexican food, you’re probably coming to the wrong place.

Chile relleno was tasteless. I ordered it because the menu billed it as a handcrafted crowd favorite. House margs were decent. This place is huge but seemed empty on a summer Thursday evening. I’m thinking there are better Mexican options in Fort Worth.

Not what it used to be. Service inside is below par, most experienced wait staff has left. Exterior had been repainted, yet management didn’t bother to make entry or pavement safer. We live close, so thought we would try orders to go. Good luck even getting them to include flour tortillas with your fajitas to go. And when you call back to ask for them and explain, they say you didn’t ask for them and hang up. Fajitas in Fort Worth, Texas with no tortillas a. Seriously? Over 20 years eating there. Last visit.

This place has good margeritas, the food is OK. The patio could be really sweet, but ambiance is lacking. And classic rock blaring is not what one expects in the oldest Mex restaurant in this city. I walked out once I got a load of the vibe here. I don’t know how they keep doing it. Sorry O.

The Original is our go to place. Food is simple and delicious. Staff is friendly. Not a huge fan of the frozen margaritas, but my boyfriend sure is. I prefer the skinny margarita. We love to sit at the bar and visit with our favorite bartenders. For dinner we love the Roosevelt, Coco’s salad, chicken flautas, quesadillas, enchiladas, tortilla soup… Just a few favorites. If I’ve left any room after dinner, the sopaipillas are crazy good!

The service was awesome, the chips and salsa were so addictive but the food… it was aight. We came here for a really late lunch on a Sunday afternoon — it was pretty empty but that is what’s expected at that time. I ordered the beef fajitas and the hubs ordered The Roosevelt. He’s actually come here before on work lunches so he knew what to expect. His plate came with a cheese enchilada, a taco and a tostada, it all looked yummy. His plate also came with a cup of queso which was thick and COLD. Wow. My fajitas were pretty good but after a few bites — I noticed the pool of oil that all of my beef and veggies were laying on which was kind of off-putting. But you know what guys? I’m still thinking about those warm, crispy salty chips and that little beaker of salsa that came at the beginning of our meal. We didn’t even talk during that time — we were just crunching away and the only communication between us was when one of us needed a salsa refill.

A group of us headed to Original Mexican Eats Café for a New Year’s Eve dinner and aptly made reservations… just in case. Ever year, I realize that Fort Worth isn’t huge on New Year’s celebrations. No reservation needed, even for a table of 12. When you think of classic Fort Worth Tex-Mex, Joe T’s ought to come to mind. But The Original provides a humble alternative on the West side of town. I can’t say that Joe T’s is the most convenient to get to, nor is the wait time ideal. Enchiladas run the house here, and the pared down menu is rather inviting. If you’re anything like me, open options can be enslaving… And when you’re craving eggs for dinner, these guys set you up well for el huevos. Simple food in a slow(though rapidly expanding) town.

Saw OMEC on a list of the oldest eats in Ft. Worth and had heard good things so we gave them a try. I guess all I can really say is that, to me, it was unremarkable. I thought the food was good but nothing noteworthy. Service was fine, no complaints. To me the best part was the sopapillas, they were excellent. I also felt that the food was a bit overpriced for what was delivered. Not quantity, that was fine, the food just didn’t seem to rise above what can be found in numerous other Mexican restaurants in the area. Maybe I was expecting more because of the long, rich history, but, for me, that just didn’t come through in the meal.

My wife and i stopped in for lunch today craving some good olé TexMex after church. I hadn’t been at the restaurant in quite a while, it was time for a return visit. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was quite crowded with the after church crowd. A basket of warm chips and salsa was delivered to our table almost immediately. The chips and hot sauce were wonderful, the chips crisp and the salsa spicy. Our server took our drink order and we ordered a half order of bean and cheese nachos since we were famished. Our nachos came out very quickly. They were served piping hot. The only complaint was that they had way too much cheese on them. They were still good though, but too much cheese for our taste. Our server returned to take our lunch order. My wife ordered the chicken fajita quesadillas and I ordered the chile relleno. platter. Our entrees were delivered to our table after a short wait. My wife said her chicken fajita quesadillas were very good. My chile relleno was a different story. I should have said something, but I didn’t since we were short on time and I was hungry. The relleno didn’t have any type of sauce on it, either a ranchero or queso. Also one end of the relleno was burnt due to the cheese leaking out when frying. Lastly, the batter was a bit to greasy for my taste. Concerning the sides on my platter, the rice was good, but the refried beans were a bit dry, like they had been on the steam table for too long. Overall our visit was very good. We were given good service by our server. The food we were served would warrant a return visit for us unless we were in the area. I work close by and I’m going to stop in again real soon for enchiladas, which I’ve heard are some of the best around.

You will probably end up parking in the back of the restaurant because there are limited spots in the front. Make your way inside by traveling through a kick ass back patio complete with big screen TVs, a fireplace and an outdoor bar. Once inside, you need to go all the way to the front to be seated by the hostess. The restaurant has been through a couple remodels so everything looks sort of mis-matched and expanded, but it gives the place character. I appreciated it. Our waitress with firey red hair(who looked like she’s been there 1,000 years) was very friendly and helpful, but when you look at the menu, don’t think of Mexican food as you know it today. Think of it as a child chef smothering Velveeta and canned Ro-tel over literally everything, even the Margaritas(I kid). I couldn’t pick up my taco with my hands because my entire plate was melted cheese. It was kind or like receiving soggy nachos at the ballpark and you paid $ 8 for them and now you’re sad. Not only was the food just«meh» the margaritas were«meh» as well. First off, the color was a little too brown for a margarita, second it was soooooo sweet. There was wayyyy to much margarita mix in this puppy. It was also expensive, at $ 10 I really thought about asking for something different in its place.
