I love it here. The food and wine are amazing. Although it is a little out of the way and expensive, it is worth it. I enjoy the inventiveness of the cuisine and wine pairing events. I see this place as a little taste of paradise. The owners are so passionate about their food and the visitors. You feel loved when you come here.

The drive out there was absolutely gorgeous. The trees and horses made for a delightful drive. However Mar was not helpful at all. She was rude, disrespectful and arrogant. I had hope to have a 20 person baby shower there next February(super bowl weekend), bringing them business and exposure on what must likely is a slow day/weekend for them. I called the owner Caris hoping to receive better treatment. Wrong. Rude as well. I will never go back. Never recommend any of my clients to use their facilities.

No idea why there is a bad review on this place. The wine is absolutely FANTASTIC and the food is very bistro worthy especially for the price. The wine and cheese plate cannot hold a candle to their competitors(comes with warm fresh bread and sausage as well) and the atmosphere is lovely. The owners are happy to talk to the local people. The Happy Dog red is a whole different kind of good that is out of this world. We have never had a dish here we did not love. There is a pomme wine that tastes like apple pie! How can you go wrong? They have coolers on the patio which make it pleasant in the hot summer! Love this place! The service is always amazing AND they honor our active duty military with 10% off which is big. Even the BATHROOMS are super cute with wine cartoons and antique wine holders that are re-fashioned into paper towel holders. We LOVE Lightcatcher! It is probably our favorite winery in the greater DFW area.

We decided to try this place Saturday even with all the mixed Reviews. We showed up around 11:30 am, they had some kind Of party that was to start at noon they were sold out… I hate to write a bad review because we didn’t even taste the Wine or get service but as for the rudeness of the lady out front We will not be back, I’m assuming she was the owner ether way she Should fire someone if owner she should fire herself, save your money Obviously they don’t need it…

We went to the Annual, Lucy crush. Had such a great time last year, I invited multiple friends to join me in the experience for 2015. Everybody has a remarkable time, the only complaint was the food, not being very good and limited amount you can get. You purchase the lunch buffet ticket, however they serve you in a little bit of everything and you’re only allowed to go through once. So which means, if you find one item that you like. You couldn’t go back and get more of that item. Of the 20+ guest that accompany me to this event, that was the biggest complaint. Prior to this event, I called to ensure that the two tickets that I purchased at two different times were on the list of available people to be entered in. The first purchase went through fine, the second purchase eBay kept saying that it was not cleared, although it hit my bank account. So I decided I would call the Lightcatcher winery to confirm the second ticket. The woman on the phone, Mar was less than accommodating, and extremely rude! I asked if my name was on the list twice, and she said if you purchase the tickets that my name will be on the list twice. She would not check the list. I said OK I just wanted to confirm. She became a little hostile, which was not good, seeing as how I am hosting a large group, at her establishment for the Lucy event. And wanted to reserve tables to ensure that everybody sat somewhat close to each other. She told me they were going to put us down in the trees, with no fans. I explained to her that I would have multiple elderly women with me, and the rough terrain would be dangerous for them to get down into the tree area. MAR, didn’t care, and was rude at the fact that I asked to be put where The elderly ladies wouldn’t trip! I also requested, the fans be down there, to ensure nobody would get overheated. She said that if we purchase the buffet, there will be plenty of fruit available to prevent us from being dehydrated! And as I stated a moment ago, you are only allowed to go through the buffet line once. I asked to speak to the manager, she assured me that she was. In a very unprofessional and rude manner! So I asked her, what can we do about the fan situation and she said fans were only available to those sitting at the top. She called me back later, and said that anybody that wants a refund on the ticket can do so by noon Thursday. I’m not sure, who all canceled, if any! As I found out the situation, I let my ladies know, that the tables were first come first serve. If they were uncomfortable sitting in the tree area, and having to go down the rocky terrain. And not have fans. So as we all arrived, we all just pick tables up at the top, near the music, under the fans, and in the middle event! No thanks to Mar, we all stayed safe & cool and had a great time!

This place is a gem. I get it, it’s a winery/wine tasting place. But that’s not why we like this place. It has a wonderful chef and a wonderful restaurant. Truly puts effort into what he/she makes. Dont let the exterior fool you, its has a great atmosphere inside for a date or anniversary.

Used a Groupon last night that was a wine tasting and supper deal. Called 24 hrs in advance with a valid coupon and had no trouble at all! Showed up 30 minutes early(must arrive 15 minutes before dinner reservation for wine tasting) and were promptly given our wine tasting. The tasting was«shared» so instead of splitting three samples we paid 5 additional dollars for another set of samples. Worth the 5 bucks. Not bad on the wine selection! Dinner was delicious although it seemed they had one waitress for the whole place so service was a bit slow. That orange butter with those rolls! Yes.

I can only speak for the wine tastings here, not the restaurant. After a day of hiking and jet skiing, went with my young lady for some wine tastings at roughly 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday the 29th of June, 2014. We had no clue what to expect but went in excited as this wasn’t even out of the way coming back from Eagle Mountain lake. There were several others trying wines as well, but we were helped promptly and with great attention. Our resident wine expert was absolutely wonderful to us(as 22-year-olds going wine tasting, we’ve gotten quite the range of receptions). The wine tastings were priced exactly as you’d expect and we tried many different kinds. Definite hits were there 10-Point Cab, Fox Merlot, and the Blanc du Bois. Each offered a refreshing, easy-to-drink wine that maintained quality and finish throughout each sip. It was great to experience the different kinds and we took a few bottles home for later. Given what we spent and the service and attention we got, I was remarkably satisfied with the experience and would love to go back again to dry a different set of wines!

I went here today with my best friend in town and we tried many wines. They were out of their happy cat wine so I was bummed, but they ship them in the mail too! Really cute café for lunch and patio too.

First visit last night. Great venue. White tablecloth, cloth napkins. Had leek/Gouda puff pastry tart as appetizer – creamy but a bit too salty. Ordered a prosecco/cherry lime with muddled mint cocktail. Mint was not muddled, just floating on top. Cocktail also had bits of soil in it. Manager told me that«muddled mint» can break apart and turn black. BS. She brought me a different cocktail«so that I would be satisfied.» Never apologized for dirty mint. Charcuterie platter was good, but again, salty. Ordered the Lightcatcher salad – fresh, but not special. Ordered the mushroom risotto which was al dente and SALTY. Dinner partner ordered the moussaka. We asked the waiter for boxes to take home. He obliged. When we got to our respective cars, we found the moussaka and risotto dumped in the same container. Overall, the staff seem a little too proud of themselves. We were the second table to be seated, but the host«had to go check» if there was an available table. Come on, really? The place acts like it’s a 4 star French restaurant. But outside dining area had stacked extra tables stored along with other mechanical stuff stored in the corner! Hoity toity and too expensive for entire experience. My friend and I laughed about the experience and we had a great visit together. Don’t expect perfection and don’t salt your food before tasting. And ask for separate take home containers for your leftovers. Duh. After reading other reviews here, I’m so glad we didn’t have a Groupon to redeem! That kinda crap will be their demise!

Went for dinner and have a very flavorful but somewhat pricey meal. Now I don’t mind pricey but felt the portions were small for the price but again was pleased with my meal. Wine on the other hand wasn’t as good, blame myself for not doing a taste test prior to ordering. My husband isnt a wine drinker so would have liked other alcoholic beverage options for him. Our waiter was Steven and he was excellent!

Ate here for the first time — dinner tonight. Everything was pretty much perfect and I don’t say that often after a dining experience. We had a bone marrow appetizer with biscuits, which was different and interesting. My husband had a ribeye, very tender and flavorful. I had stuffed chicken breast. It was very good. Almost melted in your mouth. Wine cocktail was fabulous. Server was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly both at dinner and the wine tasting we did before our meal. Ambience at dinner is perfect for date night. I’d like to go back for jazz Sunday.

I can appreciate everyone’s comments but I’m sadden to say I did not have the h me experience. My wife had been talking up this place for the pass two weeks. She had been there with friends before for their wine tasting and had their cheese plates and salads but she had never had dinner there. So for her 50th birthday we invited a few friends, 9 people total and scheduled a wine tasting and dinner. Now I will admit that we were an hour late for our reservation which was our fault. Let me get to the point… Our food was bad period. First we were served someone else’s meals which they quickly ok back, my salad was served to my friends daughter who had ordered a salad and thought it was hers. They took it realizing what had happened and then served it right to me. 4 of the 5 steaks order had to good back for being under cooked and lastly my friends wife had to ask for some type of sauce to add taste to her steak. Now being a great cook myself if someone asked for sauce for a steak I cooked I’m coming out of the kitchen to fid out what is wrong. The chef was a no show. Lastly the cost was ridiculous. My recommendation, we’ll I’d don’t have a good one. I would say limit yourself to the wine tasting if you like Texas wine. If you have a broader taste in wines say away. If you don’t mind paying to high of a price for bad food and weak management this is the place for you. Good luck…

Very nice place. It was a bit of a drive, but very worth it. The wine selection was good and the cheese platter was awesome. Very relaxed atmosphere. It was nice to go and just sit down and sample wines. Great place for a wedding.

Had some family visiting from Canada who are big wine fans. We took them to this place because it had an open patio with live jazz. The whole afternoon(Sunday) was very relaxed and enjoyable. We all tried several different types of wine and they were willing to give samples if we weren’t sure which we wanted glasses of. They had excellent nibbling type food and I was excited to see that I could order their blue cheese burger with a gluten free bun. Service was friendly and décor was casual.

I wish I had ventured out here much MUCH sooner! I dined with a group last night for New Years Eve. 8:30 reservations and since I’m perpetually late we arrived at 9. I called and spoke to someone at the restaurant about our late arrival and they were very accommodating. The space is really cute. There’s a nice large patio that wraps around half the building. You walk in the front and there’s a small bar and some kitschy shopping wine related items for sale. To the left is the dining area and to the right the restrooms. Lots of big wine barrels line the walls in the dining area and if you look closely at the bottom of the front of the barrels there is a year and description of what’s inside. Now on to the food! We reserved for the 7 course prefix menu @ 100 $ a head. You had the option of wine pairings for 39 $ or luxury wine pairings at 69 $. We went with the luxury :) The food timing was excellent. Our first wave came– deviled eggs with a bit of caviar on top for the amuse bouche. Not the best– not bad but it’s a soft egg, soft filling and a soft topping. It just didn’t stand out. Then a duck salad with blue cheese. Really good. Then a rabbit confit with Brie. Delicious. Then my favorite course the foie gras 2 ways. Salt cured and pan seared. So good. OHEMGEE. No one talked during this course. Ha! Next course was a crispy skin snapper with polenta. I love polenta. Followed by bacon wrapped antelope with mushroom risotto. By this point we were boardering on stuffed. The two dessert courses came soon after. The chocolate one was not good. My cookie ganache whatever was like a rock. You could hear people stabbing at them throughout the dining room. The crème brûlée was delicious. Hints of lemon and a raspberry glaze on the side. Perfect ending to the meal. The wine pairing was great too. The stand outs for me included the 03 light catcher merlot, 02 light catcher cabernet and the port. Really the merlot was the best. Full and rich. I’d love a bottle. Our service was the best I could have hoped for! Reading previous reviews I was nervous about it but for nothing! Our waiter Steven was impeccable with timing, refills, coursing, clearing and descriptions. The restaurant provided us with various nye midnight things– horns, poppers hats… We all toasted and cheered together at 12 am. I couldn’t think of a better dining experience to culminate the year– or a better way to ring in the new one!

Jazz Sundays are great here. The wine, music, and the ample shade make this a hit in the spring/summer. The wine from Lightcatcher is hit and miss. so definitely take advantage of tasting as much as possible before you commit to a bottle. Overall the dining at this establishment and Jazz Sundays are great. I would give it higher marks, but some of the wines could use some help in taste and appearance. Let’s get serious, guys… who sells a wine called«Happy Cat» with a digital picture of a cat on it? They do! This wine was super sweet and the flavors were just not right… we couldn’t even finish one glass.

And I am looking forward to their Mother’s Day Buffet May 9TH!!! A Dog Friendly Winery gets 5 stars from Me!!!

Lightcatcher is a beautiful winery in Fort Worth. The wines are very tasty(the ‘Texas Kiss’ is my favorite!) and have won numerous awards. A romantic and off the beaten trail destination, this vineyard is a great place for a wine tasting and lunch date. Several Sundays a month, they bring out jazz bands in the afternoon… another cheap, but romantic, date idea. In August, they have the grape stomp. It is hilarious to go out there with your friends and crush grapes! In fact, they call this the«Lucy Stomp» in tribute to the famous scene from the ‘I Love Lucy’ show. A highly recommended venture if you’ve never tried it! If you enjoy experimenting with Texas wines, then check out the Lightcatcher Winery! There is a reason why the Fort Worth Telegram voted this the ‘Best Hidden Gem’ in 2009!
