Not sure why all the bad reviews. This is the one place around las Olas that you can get a decent meal for $ 10. Large salads. Great hot food counter. Healthiest place to eat for dirt cheap in the area.

I went here for lunch. After I was finishing up my food, and waiting to but a bottle of water I watched the person making a salad pick up stuff off the floor with the food prep gloves on, they put it in to an overflowing garbage can, then pushed down the garbage in the overflowing can and then start making another customers salad. When I complained, I was treated like I was making a complaint for no reason. The food was ok. Nothing special. Overpriced for what I received. Never going back.

Been going here every now and then since it’s close to my job. The food is ok, nothing spectacular and the prices are great. The last time i was there with a co-worker we seen 2 roaches right by the kitchen and told one of the employees and he simply said ok and did nothing which lets me know that this is probably a regular thing. That was 2 months ago, i haven’t been back since.

Seriously underwhelming. Why OH why can’t I find a decent place on Las Olas that doesn’t cost me upwards of $ 20 – 25 bucks for lunch??? I’ve been searching high and low for just a reasonably priced, consistent spot were I can grab a sandwich or a salad that doesn’t cost me an arm and leg. A friend at work talked me into walking over to The Salad Bowl. We are swamped at work and don’t have time to mess around with a sit down meal with real napkins and silverware. I’ve seen some fairly good looking salads get delivered to my office from here and figured it was worth a shot. We walked back through the college area, turned the corner and found The Salad Bowl on Broward Blvd just before a severe rain storm hit. It was pretty packed with people and difficult to find a seat. I jumped in line, grabbed a menu and quickly set my eyes on a nicoise salad. For those of your who are unfamiliar, it’s a simple, French salad with a scoop of tuna, egg, black olives, green beans, bits of cooked potato and sometimes served with strips of anchovy. Not rocket science folks. Luckily we find a seat and wait a few minutes until our names are screamed out over the chattering of other patrons. Without taking a good look at the salad, I grab it from the counter and walk back to my seat. I almost start to dig in when I realize some critical ingredients are missing. There is a scoop of cheap, chunk-light tuna(not albacore as noted on menu), a mountain of black olives, red onion and a few potato chunks. The lettuce is barely cut and still very moist from being washed. I walked back up to the salad makers to ask about the green beans and the egg. The lady looks at me, annoyed, and says«no green beans». I was like, OK… not the end of the world. I see some hard-boiled eggs behind the counter and I ask to have one. She looks at me like I have two heads. This annoys me further and I have to explain that the salad said it came with a hard-boiled egg and it was not given to me. She digs one out and reluctantly hands it to me. I walk back to my seat, toss everything together into this hot mess of a salad and eat at high speed. Was the salad gross, not completely. But like I said before, just seriously underwhelming and I could have used less attitude. Sure, I saved a few bucks at this spot, but next time I will order takeout or venture elsewhere.

Ehh. It’s cheap and quick but the staff is running around everywhere! I often have to ask for my order after sitting around for a while because they haven’t started it or lost the ticket. I’ve had good food and I’ve had awful food so it’s hit or miss. I’ll still order every once in a while when I’m craving a quick bite that’s not fast food.

Delicious! I got an Atkins Diet Salad, cup of chicken noodle soup and an iced tea. The salad had a ton of meat and cheese and the blue cheese dressing was good. Soup was chunky and had good flavor. The unsweetened iced tea was good too. So often I get iced tea from a place and it’s stale and funky tasting. My only complaint is that delivery took over an hour. But I think it’s because they are in high demand. Now I know to call at 11:00am for a noon delivery!

Quick place to grab some lunch in the Fort Lauderdale business area. The Salad Bowl covers all of the staple lunch categories: Sandwiches, salads, and a hot lunch selection. The hot lunch selections are typically Cuban/Mexican cuisine. The lasagna is fantastic and extremely filling. If I decide to go for the hot lunch though, I typically go for the Chicken Teriyaki with plantains and wild rice; always a sweet and savory bet. If you are looking for a sandwich, the absolute best on their menu is the Chicken Milanese sandwich. Fried chicken breasts topped with garlic aioli, lettuce, and tomato. It’s definitely their best sandwich, hands down. They have other typical choices too, like an Italian or Reuben. Facility is a little grungy looking, but overall good quality food. The staff can be a bit hostile during the lunch rush because of the sheer amount of people. Be prepared to stand in line if you go between 11:30a and 1:00p during the week. Overall, it’s a fair-quality place to pick something up if you don’t have the time to sit down and eat(although they have plenty of seating, but no waitress service).

Large portions, fair tasting, and only a $ 10 minimum delivery with no charge. Ordered twice last week & will be ordering more. So far I did the Miami Steak sandwich — it is huge! With plantain chips and a yummy sauce & yellow rice… The next day I ordered the Atkins salad which is great but I think crispy bacon would be a great add on ;-) wasn’t a fan of their blu cheese dressing. All in all I am happy to have found this place!

I’ve only done breakfast here, and never done delivery so I can’t speak to what other reviewers have spoken about regarding their issues… The Salad Bowl is in a great relocation, so they get the benefit of having a captive audience with the businesses nearby. We get breakfast here often during the week at work, and typically go pick it up. The omelettes are really good, well done with a good array of ingredients. I haven’t had the French Toast, but my co-workers rave about it… smells awesome when they get it. The hash browns I had as a side weren’t great, a little on the«gummy» side and not something I would get again. Probably frozen, to be quite honest, but I’m more concerned about entrees than I am side-dishes. Overall, however, the food is pretty good and it’s a super-cheap price point. I would recommend it if you’re in the area and want an inexpensive, convenient breakfast that is pretty tasty overall.

I met my sis and friend here for lunch and it was not good. My Greek salad was not Greek. My sister got her money back for her Atkins salad because it had fluorescent pink writing on her turkey! They said it was from the wrapper. And her egg was green like it was overcooked. While we were eating panhandlers asked us for money and went to every table. I didn’t see a manager chase them off either. You can get a fresher better salad at Beverly Hills café.

I just experienced horrible service here. I work at home but still have a 45 minute lunch break. My son was home so I took him up there as a treat. I told him when I worked around the corner we used to get the salads and they were amazing. I asked for 2 raspberry dressings. We get home and neither of us had dressing or crackers. The crackers aren’t a big deal but they used to give them. My French chicken salad with goat cheese had 2 tiny specks of goat cheese. I called and was told salad bowl hold please. Then after 5 minutes she comes back on and when I said I just spend 18 dollars on 2 salads only to come home and have no dressing. She says to me «what do you want me to do?» For one maybe learn how to treat customers. She then sounded aggravated mumbled something to me and put me back on hold. After another 5 I hung up. Won’t be back again.

They are horrible on the delivery service and the good is just so so. If you need something fast and ready to go its z good place to stop on the fly. Could be so much better. Management can be much more appreciative for they business there customers bring in and should alway remember that they are in the service industry. BENICETOYOURCUSTOMERS !!!

I was extremely excited to try the salad bowl. I called and placed my order: Mediterranean salad. All looked good and tasted decent up until I heard a crunch. I then stopped and realized I had bitten into a tiny piece of glass. I mixed up salad and found another trace. I immediately called and the same guy that took my order picked up. I explained what I had found and he immediately became very rude and didn’t believe that I had glass in my salad. Publix has a better Mediterranean salad. Never again…

1 hour and 20 min for a delivery less then 3 miles away. Good arrived oil soaked. No phone call to notify. Rude service when we called to figure out why so long. Don’t waist your time.

This place is a little different. Cafeteria style, but freshly made. It has plenty of options, so you have to be decisive to be happy here. But it may be a good idea to split, the size is enormous. I love the burrito.

Great Resturant. Very friendly staff. Great variety of food. I recommend the French club sandwich. Best deli sandwich I’ve had in a while. Delicious. Quick service.

This place is pretty good for a quick lunch option during the work week. The food isn’t spectacular and admittedly, I haven’t tried the«hot food» side of the place. I was pretty disappointed when the hard boiled egg that came with my salad was almost goopy… not great quality ingredients. That being said, for a quick salad with some grilled chicken on it… its quick, easy, and edible.

The name is deceptive. It really should be the salad and meat bowl. One side of the place is a cafeteria style setup that serves all sorts of meat dishes. The other side is a cafeteria style setup so you can make a salad. I went to the meat side and had the roast pork.(Most of the dishes featured on this side of the restaurant had a heavy latin flavor or influence.) You get a huge portion with two sides. The amount of food you get for roughly $ 7 was crazy. It literally translated into a ratio of $ 1 equally one pound of food, which is why this place probably gets so busy at lunch time. This is just one of those downtown lunch options that is acceptable because it is close, quick, and fairly priced(so you settle on what is a different standard of acceptable).

The Salad Bowl is located near the corner of Broward Blvd. and SE1st Street. Park at the meters located alongside the restaurant, which is part of a strip mall. Note their entire menu is available for review on their website. Seating is available outside as well. They offer breakfast(served during morning hours only) & lunch, with a large menu of specialty sandwiches(served w/french fries, potato salad, or a very tiny fruit bowl). Try the chicken philly with ranch dressing(ask for mayo or extra ranch — mine was a bit on the dry side) or the California Specialty — deli turkey(of avg. quality) with avocado spread, tomato, sprouts, and swiss cheese. Salads are their specialty & offered in many varieties, with or without protein(chicken, grilled fish), and are nicely presented in a large bowl or Styrofoam take out containers if you’re picking up. There is also a section of the menu that boasts Mexican favorites like tacos, burritos, and pork meals; however I am always skeptical of the quality and freshness of the food from places that offer too much on the menu. The food is prepared in the front of the restaurant, so you can watch your plate being prepped by their team of cooks. Service is friendly and it’s a decent meal & convenient if you work or go to school in downtown Ft. Laudy, but I wouldn’t recommend you make a special trip to this place.
