Soooo. Gooood. Great flavor. Cozy atmosphere. My Peruvian mother in law has spoiled me. This place is almost as good.

I ordered a pasta dish, ate most of it and then found a small roach laying in it. I’m not coming back; sorry.

This is probably my fourth time visiting and as always the food was delicious! The only reason I can’t give it a full 5 stars is because the service really isn’t the best. Went tonight with my family and they didn’t have any Peruvian beer, ended up with a Corona. We got chicken lomo saltado, fish cerviche and mixed jalea. Sooooo yummy! I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a super yummy Peruvian spot!

I would love to give The Crazy Potato more stars, but I’m stuck at 3 since the service wasn’t that great and my food wasn’t that amazing. After reading Samantha D’s review I went ahead and got the Living Social… which btw is a steal when applying it to lunch specials for $ 7 – 8. We arrived on Friday for lunch at just after 12. According to Unilocal, their facebook page and a menu I found online the opening times varied from 11am to 12pm and I wanted to be safe. At just after 12pm the place was empty and we only saw one other patron stop in for a take out order. The server did explain to us her English wasn’t great and I think that’s what really pushed the experience down for me. I have no issue with people being in the early stages of learning English and we were willing to all break out broken Spanish to help her, but I think her fear of English kept her away from the table instead of checking in on us frequently enough. Thankfully the restaurant was cute enough, since our food took a bit too long to come out, especially considering we were the only customers. I selected the chicken saltado for lunch off of the specials. I was disappointed they didn’t have lomo saltado as a lunch option, but the dish was tasty enough, especially after the server brought out some kind of cilantro sauce that I tossed all over my plate. Again, not the norm I’m used to, the potatoes were thick stabs instead of french fries mixed in with the meat. I did try a bite of my coworkers ceviche which was pretty good! The menu itself boasts some interesting Peruvian risottos and pasta dishes that I would love to try. Unfortunately though I won’t be rushing back.

A friend of mine had bought a living social here since it is pretty close to where we work, figuring we would try for lunch at some point. I had looked at the menu beforehand, but I wasn’t really sure what would be good for lunch, so I was pleased to find they offered some very reasonable lunch specials when we arrived. I had intentions of being a little more adventurous and trying some«real» Peruvian food, but I have recently given up chicken, pork, and beef, so I was left with pretty much the only fish option on the lunch menu, the fish sandwich(not very adventurous at all, I know). I was very pleasantly surprised with my order. The sandwich was one of the best I have ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly and there was a yellow sauce and a pink sauce on it that were delicious. It came with yucca fries on the side which were served with a cilantro garlic sauce which was also heavenly. There were a few issues here. Our waitress had some trouble with English making the service pretty awkward, and it took a little while for the food to come out, but if that’s what it takes to make the fish sandwich as delicious as it was, I’m ok with that. We were they only ones in the restaurant, so I went with four stars because I really don’t want this sandwich to leave my life. With the living social lunch was a steal, and I think I will buy another and force the group to go back. I would be interested in trying dinner as well.

Came here because my girlfriend and I bought a livingsocial. From the outside, this place is totally unimpressive, and the inside is nice, but nothing fancy. Our waitress barely spoke English, but my girlfriend is fluent in Spanish so it wasn’t an issue. Even if she wasn’t, I’m sure we would have been able to make it work. We split the fish ceviche, crab causa, and shrimp risotto. Holy crap. Everything was so good. Ceviche was nice and fresh and the causa was amazing and looked awesome — I didn’t expect such beautiful presentation from a small, casual place. But the risotto. Oh man, the risotto. It was so good. We were so full by the time we got to that but we couldn’t help ourselves it was so good. My girlfriend has spent a lot of time in Peru/Central America, and she said everything we ate was really authentic and delicious. I’m not familiar with a lot of that stuff so I couldn’t say myself, but I can say everything was delicious and I will definitely be going back.

We couldn’t have been more surprised by the Crazy Potato! After buying one of their Living Social deals a couple months back it was getting ready to expire so we finally went. It was a Tuesday night and the place was completely empty. After picking our seat our server came over and immediately asked if we had a Living Social deal… Not a good sign. We looked over the menu, did a bit of googling and then decided on the Causa Nikei appetizer which is basically a cold mashed yellow potato dish with ahi tuna and seaweed salad. To our surprise it was outstanding! The flavor, texture, and freshness was all there and I kind of hated sharing it with my husband. :) Next we decided on the Coctel de Camarones(Chef’s Special)! The description of this dish is Shrimp Cocktail served cold. What came out though was much more than shrimp cocktail. An amazing balance of flavors with citrus and spice! You can ask for any dish to be spicy or not. After ordering the Coctel de Comarones our server came over and asked if we would like it spicy. As it did not come out all that spicy, I liked the added level of flavors. My husband nor I like raw onions but in this dish they were spot on and added to the flavor! Both dishes were v.e.r.y fresh and crisp! Our server was helpful and explained the dishes that we had questions about. When looking at the menu we were both a bit confused as to why they have Chinese dishes?!? Still not exactly sure but as long as the food is good who cares! After being completely surprised by this place we have already bought another Living Social deal and plan on returning soon! This time to get a little more adventurous!

I have to thank Living Social or else I may never known about this place. We ordered the seafood ceviche spicy which was phenomenal and the sample causa to start. We also had the Lomo Saltado, which the waitress recommended and i am glad we took her advice. The flavors of each dish were intense and delicious; nothing additional was needed-pure tasty perfection =) We finished it with a ceviche sample in a yellow pepper sauce… once again, just as delicious as the rest. The prices match the quality! The staff was friendly and attentive. No doubt that I will go back; cannot wait to share and recommend to others!

This is a fabulous find… you’d never notice it as its in an old strip mall just west of Dixie… but this little Peruvian place is just wonderful… wide variety of menu options… the chef explained that he features entrees that would appear Italian… or Asian… because those are the influences… along with S. American foods. Try the causa appetizers… try the shrimp risotto… we just hope this little-known place makes it… just GO!!!

I think everyone agrees that Peru was the original source of potatoes, that the Inca had started to cultivate them as far back as 8,000BC, and that the Conquistadors began importing to Spain after their rather heartless conquest of Peru in 1536. But even though Peru is known to have over 3,800 varieties of potato, the name, «Crazy Potato,» hardly strikes up images of what one generally thinks of as being a Peruvian Restaurant and indeed, with such a name, is an item somewhat lacking on their overall menu. I stopped by for lunch, made my order, only to find out they didn’t have it. I made a second choice, involving an octopus, but they didn’t have any octopus. I then made a third choice, but they didn’t have that either, so sort of in exasperation was compelled to ask my waiter exactly what they do have. To my surprise, he had to go back to the kitchen to find out. Obviously we weren’t off to a very good start. LOL! I finally settled on an order of seafood ceviche and a glass of chicha, but wouldn’t you know he had to check to find out if they had in chicha. Fortunately they did. When the seafood ceviche arrived, it was as I had thought might be rather seafood selection skimpy since I knew from my previous order attempts they lacked what would normally be considered some of the ingredients generally consider vital to a well-rounded ceviche. The best I can say for it was that it was OK, certainly nothing special consisting mostly of less than firm in texture fish, rather bland in taste and lacking in complexity or tones of flavor. The chicha drink I perceived to be of the morada«Zea mays» variety weakly spiced with a cinnamon and to me absent any tones of clove. As the place is new, just starting up, they seem to have a few bugs that need to be worked out. Overall, OK, but not, at least not yet, a restaurant I would be inclined to recommend. There are good number of Peruvian restaurants nearby that clearly surpass Crazy Potato in food as well as in service.
