Jack’s Old Fashion Hamburger House

I have been going to Jacks for 42 years on Federal Hwy. I always get the ½ pound cheeseburger. Fries are marginal and sometimes not hot! Condiment bar is great! They put the cheese on the bottom so you can take top off for toppings! I am not a salt person but I noticed the last several times burger was missing seasoning! It would be nice if they offered beer batter onion rings or a combo like Burger Fi does! If you are a person that gets cold easy bring your sweater my wife does! They have a jukebox that is free but

Jacks came highly recommended so I drove down to check out the burgers. I can see where the burgers could be great. Unfortunately the place was run by a bunch of teenagers who were more interested in playing grab ass than taking care of the customers. My burger was under cooked and the chili fries were cold and under cooked as well. They said they called my name for pick up, however I could not hear them over the juke box. So they just left my order up there getting cold and never noticed to call my name again because the girl servers were too busy hanging back in the kitchen with boy cooks. When I asked about my order they just said «oh it’s been sitting over there, we called you» I said I never heard you call and my food seems to be cold now, they just looked at me with some stupid look on their face. I want make the drive for this joint again.

Not much to say about this burger place. Old fashioned all the way. From the burgers to the décor.
The burgers are ok. Nothing more, nothing less. The burger is perfectly cooked though. However, it was lacking in taste. Until, you add your condiments and that helped a lot. My husband had a Chili Dog. It was just meh. Regular dog with meat only chili. I did not like the chili at all, my husband felt that it was ok. So again, when it comes to food, it’s all subjective. The fries were golden crisp and not greasy. All food was served hot and that’s a huge plus.
The price point is ok but be advised that if you want lettuce/​tomatoes/​onions, there is an upcharge. The folks working here seemed ok. I really only dealt with the cashier/​order taker and she was friendly enough. I would choose Jack’s over BK & McD’s any day!

Simple, fresh, old-​fashioned burgers. This casual restaurant offers a burger that is tough to beat when it comes to the price. You order your burger with either cheese or no cheese. If you want lettuce, tomato or onion, this comes on the side in a ziplock bag. After that, it is up to you to dress the burger any way you like with their condiment bar. They have all the traditional fixings for a burger but you have to try their mustard relish. It’s a simple mix of mustard and relish but it is good.

If you want a heart attack, cholesterol and see massive people go here. The food is alright but the atmosphere and ppl that go here is the turn off… Nothing special

This was one of the best burgers I have had. The fries were great but the chili cheese part wasn’t. It was not a flavorful chili and it was a slice of Swiss cheese melted on it. And not sure why but the Diet Coke tasted like dish soap.
The place was clean and the food came fast

I don’t get it. Fresh, but unseasoned burger. My lettuce and tomato came in a plastic sandwich bag — so I could assemble myself? Maybe Jack’s is for you, but if the reviews have you second-​guessing, just keep on moving.

This restaurant is super casual, décor seems outdated (not sure if that’s intentional or not) and the menu options are slim: burgers (3 sizes), hot dogs, 3 different sandwiches, a couple of basic salads and fries. Ordered the ¹⁄₃ lb burger with onions & peppers for my toppings (an upcharge) and an order of fries (but feeds only one person). They have a condiment stand with different relishes, chopped raw onions, ketchup & mustard bottles, BBQ sauce, etc. The drink station is behind the counter and our large cup refills for free.
I have to say, I wasn’t expecting much when I walked in and saw the menu. Burger was a bit greasy and not sure if they salt the meat because we needed to shake some on there, but the burger really was SO good! The bun was perfect and soft! Would be good if the burgers came with lettuce and tomatoes instead of an upcharge for that too. Fries were lightly golden, hot and crisp.
No veggie burgers here! For sweets, they serve shakes and choc chip cookies. Definitely an unpretentious burger place and will definitely make the drive to eat there again!

I was born and raised here & just ate at Jacks for the first time! Great burger! I love the simplicity of this place the old 50s jukebox & just a really good burger! Got the 8 oz cheeseburger really good size & cheese fries were great! Of course had to get a milkshake .also great! Five stars I will be back !!!:)))

Was there again for the burger which is awesome. Not impressed with the fries. Frozen our of a bag. With those great burgers they should cut their own fries from fresh potatoes. Would make a world of difference. Hope they do that.

The burgers here were interesting — I could see a lot of people really liking them, and others really not liking them. For starters, the default temp is medium, rather than medium rare, which is almost unfamiliar after you try a bunch of the other major burger chains (Shake Shack in particular). The other thing is that the meat is (supposedly) very lean, which you rarely get anywhere unless you specifically ask for it and pay extra, and while there’s obvious value in having it be somewhat healthier, the honest truth is that this likely contributes to it not tasting quite as good as some of its competitors. Also, while I definitely liked the toppings bar, I felt like the end product lacked the crafting of Shake Shack and the extensive personalization of Five Guys.
All that said, I still enjoyed it – the stiff competition makes it hard to give it more than three stars, but I still thought it was a solid burger and good fries.

Been to Jacks many times over the years. The burgers are average and a bit greasy. The shakes are good and it could use some updating and newer offerings. Wish they would consider a new custom bakery type bun.
The location has been here for years upon years. I have visited it and a second location on the back roads heading North just West of Federal Highway. I remember when they would only take cash !! Prices are reasonable and traditional toppings and condiments exist.

My rating is not for food but for place’s ambience. Walked in and walked out without buying anything…
All looks cheap and not trusty for my stomach. Looked around at tables and didn’t trust those plain dead-​looking buns… I might be wrong and food might be great but I need to like what I see before I eat.

The original Fort Lauderdale burger joint is still our go-​to choice when we’re craving a quick and affordable burger. Cooked to order. Good fresh onions and mushrooms if you want em. Just the right size for my craving.

A half pound burger that melts in your mouth, made with brisket and round beef, covered with a beautiful flat bun baked on the premises. The burger to bun ratio is perfect; while the extra fixins– pickles, pickled jalapeño, onions, and relish are on hand to add for free.
Granted the lettuce and tomatoes are extra, but the main reason for going to this place is to experience a great burger. Please do not come here if you are some kind of quasi vegetarian.
This place is clean and the people are nice. Just give it a try, it is worth it. Also the medium and large sodas DO HAVE free refills; the crushed ice is great!

Oh jack’s, why did my friend have to introduce us? This is going to be the start of a illicit affair I have on my diet.
Your burgers remind me of Chicago burgers (which basically are from heaven) Your fries are just so perfectly crispy and your ambience is retro and greasy (just the way I like it) ugh, I’m only allowing myself to indulge once a month. Thank god it’s her who lives across the st from you and not me!

My wife and I have only been to this location once before. I don’t recall the previous experience, but I can say for sure that we won’t be back again.
We each ordered a cheeseburger, and we shared an order of fries. The first thing I noticed was that the fries were dry. I didn’t even know that it was possible to describe fries this way. I’ve heard of too greasy, but dry? No salt. No real flavor.
My burger was perfectly cooked. A little pink inside in places. It was definitely juicy. Some would interpret that as greasy. I’ll give them that, but these are not flame grilled. They’re cooked on a flat top, so they will be greasy. In my opinion that’s way better than overcooked and dry. However, before I sound like I’m raving about the burger, allow me to add that it was not seasoned. At all. I salted it twice and it still didn’t have much flavor! The texture was great, but it was so wanting for flavor! It’s like the cooks there are averse to seasoning.
We walked away disappointed, and with a greasy taste in our mouths.
In the past, we were huge Jack’s fans! We raved about them, and I considered them the best burger around. But not anymore. :-(Both locations are failing to deliver a quality product lately.
On a positive note, the recent restaurant inspection reports showed this location to be extremely clean.

Jack’s is a throwback burger joint in the best way possible! One of my foodie friends recommended Jack’s, so I took his advise a went one afternoon.
No fancy stuff here, just great, juicy burgers (go with the ½ lb burger) and fries (plain, cheese or chili/​cheese) in a retro location (check out the old fashioned jukebox)! They also have hot dogs and sandwiches. Note: make sure you visit the condiment bar, that has all the works.
If you live in S. FL, this is a must try! Don’t be pretentious, just bring your appetite and love of burgers… you’ll love this place! P. S. don’t forget to grab a few cookies ($ 0.65/each) to end the meal.

What what?! If you are looking for a fancy pansy place to have a gourmet Burger with a bunch of crazy ingredients and toppings then this is nor your restaurant. However, if you are looking for a good old fashion juicy burger, then Jack’s Old Fashion Burger House is the place to be.
With a cool 50’s dinner decoration, the vibe on this place make you feel so comfortable. Their menu is not really extensive; four different types of burgers, fries with either chili or chili cheese fries, two versions of a hot dog and I believe tree different sandwich versions, and of course milkshakes four different flavors.
My wife ordered the ¼ pound Cheese with grilled onions and I went for the ½ cheese burger with grilled onions and bacon. Also ordered the chili cheese fries and a cherry coke (wifey was really excited about the cherry coke lol) and I got the chocolate milkshake which it was really good. The meat was cooked perfect and was really good quality. They have a topping bar which I recommend! you should try their mustard pickle dressing omgato so good. Don’t forget to play some tunes on their juke box
We would definitely be back sometime soon to this place. Everybody was super friendly and the service was really fast even being dinner time. Keep the good work guys and see you soon.
