Not worth the time or money. I had a groupon and even the $ 11 I paid I think was a waste. Sushi was grossi read a review that said it had no flavor and its true. Luckly there are way better options a few blocks away. The brussles were soggy. Thank God for the onions on them, it gave some flavor other than peanuts. We sent back the Mongolian beef stroganoff because the meat didn’t taste like meat and again flavorless. Poke tuna tacos were boring. Spicy tuna in a wonton chip, come on I mean really, add avocado, ponzu, sesame seeds… I wont go back.

It wasn’t worth the experience. Overpriced shrimp appetizer which wasn’t the greatest, and the rolls were average at best. Plus, the atmosphere in there was pretty blah.

Chow down with my friend Sehar: Sehar suggested this restaurant when she read a advertisement about it on Facebook. It’s considered one of the hottest restaurants in Ft Lauderdale thru Zagat. She and I love trying new restaurants together, and we decided to give Chow a try. It is a intimate style restaurant set up charmingly in a rustic sort of way. I loved the quiet ambience and décor. We sat inside and caught up with life and ordered a few sushi rolls. Our server was awesome and let us take our time and answered questions. The sushi roll ingredients were fresh and I really liked 2 out of the 3 rolls. We ordered chow’s dragon roll which consisted of shrimp tempura, crab, cucumber, avocado. It tasted really flavorful. Secondly, we ordered Jennifer’s Tilly roll that included salmon and jalapeño. The roll had a nice kick to it and I enjoyed it. The only roll which was lacking in my opinion was the off the chain roll that had tuna. The ingredients were great but it was lacking the sauce. The roll was described that it came with«secret sauce,» but it did not have any. Overall, I liked the restaurant and the service. The sushi rolls had superior quality ingredients. Thanks Chow, I’m bringing the hubby here next time.~

Loved this place. The atmosphere is nice and cozy… Love the different combinations of sushi rolls they have. I tried the Tigger Woods roll and the flavors where a good combination… they have rolls for those that don’t like seafood… Would recommend this place to at least try once…

Sorry Chow, I was hoping to give you 4 stars, but the food was pretty blah in my opinion. I’d actually had a roll from Chow before while dining next door at Bull Market and found that roll(Tiger Woods) to be quite delicious, so when I saw a Groupon available I snatched it knowing that I’d be happy coming back. We arrived on a Tuesday at 6:30pm to an empty restaurant, forgetting of course that Bull Market does $ 1 burgers on a Tuesday and it was Taco Tuesday two doors down. No worries, we ate outside and felt like we were still a part of the people. Because it was so dead the food came out extremely quickly, so I’ll give them that. And our appetizer, the Brussel Sprouts were quite good. These came dressed in a Thai style peanut dressing, and well I love brussel sprouts, and I love peanut dressing, so they worked quite well for me. The pickled onion slices mixed in cut some of the sweetness and overall it was a good dish. For sushi I went with the California Cupcakes, which sound great in theory but really tasted like nothing tossed with some eel sauce, so pretty much sweet nothings lol. Yes, you can actually eat Sweet Nothings! Maybe I should have gotten a side of spicy mayo to flavor these a bit but I was too lazy. My dining companion went with the Jennifer Tilly roll, which had some things going for it, a) it was pretty large, b) rather pretty visually, but unfortunately c) also was a bit blah?! Again, probably should have gotten spicy mayo lol. The service was top notch and they were probably more annoyed with me for talking instead of even looking at the menu so she had to come back quite a few times lol. Like I said things came out quickly. Considering there’s another sushi place within walking distance I probably won’t be rushing back.

I bought a Groupon a while back and my boyfriend and I finally had time to check this place out before it expired. The food was good. We ordered the Tuna and Lobster Tacos for appetizers. I’ve had better. We also ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and Bulgogi Skirt Steak. The chicken was good, but it didn’t wow me. I actually was drawn to come here because they had«Korean Fried Chicken.» I was missing Bonchon, so I figured this place would give me my fix. Well, I got fried chicken, but that was it. The bulgogi was good, but my boyfriend and I thought it could’ve been marinated more for a more savory taste. The rice was also hard, but still edible. Other than that, service was ok. However, I feel it was pretty lax because there wasn’t a lot of people. I mean, it’s a Thursday night. Then again, I’m not in this area often; the whole street didn’t seem busy at all. I should mention that the manager was accommodating because the Groupon actually required 4 guests to get the promo deal, but our trip was last minute. He gave us the amount that I paid for it versus the $ 40 promo value. I’d rather have that than have to come back. We rarely come to the area anyway. Would we come back? Probably not. But thanks for the experience!

Not a fan, they combine forces with The Bull Market for brunch and we came here and I was not impressed with either side of the brunch selections. The sushi is okay, nothing amazing especially since it’s just quickly made and sitting out for brunch buffet and on the other side at Bull Market, the food is mediocre with a Waffle bar with your choice of toppings. I don’t think I would come back here for dinner for sushi.

Ordered 3 rolls: Super Duper Shrimp, Jalapeño Lobster and California Cupcakes. Also had Bangkok Black Mussels. It took approximately 30 min before our food came out. Rolls were mediocre but mussels were very tasty. Took a while before we could get our server’s attention to get our bill. She made a cotton candy cone which was disappointedly very bitter(not sure how that could happen). Received someone else’s bill and had to ask for the correct one. Watched a couple get up and walk out because they waited over 30 min for their rolls and didn’t want to wait any longer. Overall, service was slow, food was mediocre and will not be coming back here again.

Not bad but not great. For the price range, I would not go back. The food was good, but it didn’t blow me out of the water. It also took a while. I came with 3 other friends on a Saturday around 4:30pm but it was pretty dead. We had a waiter, not sure what his name was because he didn’t really tell us. He was mediocre. He wasn’t terrible by any means but every time we needed something, we either had to wait a very long time or try and politely flag him down. He seemed very uninterested in helping us More details on the food, I ordered the Pittsburgh sushi which was good, like I said, it didn’t blow me out of the water. My friend ordered the chicken pad thai which he absolutely loved and my brother and his girlfriend ordered the prime steak which was a very small portion for what I’d picture for steak at such a steep price. They also ordered the Rob Schneider roll. Ha! They said the roll was delicious, the steak was okay but a little chewy for their liking. I will give them points for the cute décor and atmosphere and the very creative menu. BBQ and Sushi fusion is a pretty neat concept. It was executed well enough for Pad Thai for $ 14? And yes, sushi is pricey but I don’t think $ 16 for a roll is adequate unless this roll makes me foodgasm. Overall, it was just«okay» for me. Oh and I saw a cotton candy machine and I think you get it with your check or whatever, not really sure, but either way, we didn’t get anyone. Sad :( But still a cool concept, I would try it once, but it’s not personally a spot I would make a regular hang out.

Stopped at Chow on a late Friday night. It was of course, super loud and unfortunately we were seated next to some obnoxious ladies. The only words or phrases in their vocabulary included«like,» «ya,» «literally,» and«oh my god I know right?» Even though we ended up eating for a few minutes and then high tailing it out of their because of our obnoxious neighbors, the food was truly delicious. Service was alright too. I ended up eating my leftover Pad Thai the next day. I’d go back again just for the food, most certainly not on a weekend at night though!

So, went on a Sunday evening with the groupon. Pay $ 49 for two for soup or salad, a stir fry, and unlimited hot sake. Advice, don’t buy the groupon unless you REALLY love cheap hot sake and want to drink unlimited amounts of it. In actuality you really are not saving much money to just go with your date and order the soup or salad and the stir fry. As for these menu items, there was a lot to be desired. Overly salty stir fries that could easily be prepared at home or ordered from Pei Wei. The salad was nothing more special than the bag of pre-mixed greens from the grocery store with the specialty made dressings. Additionally we ordered the fried chicken and the cupcake roll. The fried chicken WAS very good but not off the charts. The sushi roll was also good. The menu had some other nice offerings which the server told us they were out of. Hmm. I really wanted to try bull market too but now that I know they are joint establishments, I will not be returning. That is, unless I’m around himmarshee in a drunken stupor with friends and don’t know what I’m doing. 1 star for food. Extra star for service. I don’t see this place lasting. Bring back sidebar I guess.

Went to Chow on a Thursday night with my wife and we had a good time. Here are the details: It was in downtown Ft. Lauderdale in a cluster of other cool little spots. The street directly in front of the restaurant has string lights hanging, which adds charm to the bunch of restaurants. We ate outside because the weather was beautiful. Our waitress, Kara, was super cool and accommodating. I didn’t get to take a picture of the entrees because we were mad hungry, sorry Unilocalers!(I did get the dessert, though). I had the orange chicken and my wife had the Korean Fried Chicken(I highly recommend it!). One of the meal’s downsides was that my rice was a bit cold, but beside that it was great. We topped it off with a chocolate fondue dessert(we were inspired by the Melting Pot event) and it was really good! The flavor of the food was on point, and it came out pretty quick. My rice did come out a bit cold and the portion was on the smaller side. However, the overall experience was great and the restaurant was a cool joint. Check it out!

The menu is awesome. The execution is terrible. I ordered the buffalo chicken sushi roll. It was literally a chicken tender and piece of celery wrapped in rice. There was no blue cheese and one line of buffalo sauce across the top. It was actually disgusting. The best part of this place is the 2 for 1 drinks.

Been here for the Sunday brunch where Chow and Bull Market do a joint brunch. I saw the flyer and the menu sounded good but I was disappointed. Chow side served 4 different kinds of rolls which weren’t very good. They also served fried rice, lo mein, and mini lobster rolls. The lobster rolls were served on this bread which was not appetizing at all. The filling was like what you out in the imitation crab sushi rolls. Not very good. The Bull Market side had a carving station with ham and prime rib, omelet station and waffle iron which was run by one guy. One guy! He was too busy so the line wasn’t moving at all and spilling into the sidewalk. They also served bacon, potatoes, fried chicken, scrambled eggs, snow crab legs, and waffles. The food wasn’t very good and definitely not worth the money. I think I’ll pay half the price and go to a sushi buffet for better quality rolls, chicken wings, lo mein, fried rice and crab legs. They did have a make your own Bloody Mary station which was a good concept but they didn’t have any olives and it would be difficult for people who don’t know what goes into a Bloody Mary. The ceiling was also leaking the day I was there and my table was wobbly.

Chow, which I understand is the creation of the folks that operate the nearby Bull Market, is a sort of strange mixed bag of place in its menu offerings of sushi, barbecue, or what they seem to refer to mash-up cuisines with rather catchy but not to be taken serious names. There are Oink Oink Tacos, BBQ Pork Potstickers, Szechuan burgers, Moo Goo Fajitas, Chow Now-This is Not a Cow, Over the Rainbow, Cowboy Roll, Gringo Rangoons and a host of others. It’s been my experience that when varying dishes such as these or with such trendy names are coming from a single kitchen, they tend to suffer in taste and quality, most likely from a lack of having a central culinary focus. Unfortunately I would also say that this is exactly the situation with Chow. The BBQ items are good, the sushi rolls passable, but from what I’ve had nothing exceptional and though unique in culinary design, there is an apparent lack of the culinary skills necessary to pull it off. Hence, as for their sushi items, the typical standard sushi restaurants of the area clearly do a better job, and when it comes to barbecue, the establishments specializing in barbecue only are likewise better. On my most recent visit I went for their Mango Lobster Roll, a lobster mix of avocado and cucumber rolled and topped with thinly sliced mango; served with mango tobiko and kiwi wasabi sauces. Overall, it was tasty, nicely presented and though I very much enjoyed it, wouldn’t call it as being anything exemplary or above average. One thing I have to really credit Chow on was the service I had; very polite, accommodating and efficient which made for a better than average or typical Himmarshee area experience.

Sorry to say, but I’m with Julie and Rocki on this one — so disappointing.. and I really wanted it to be good. :(some silly stuff — some really important stuff. We started ok — sat outside for people watching, albeit at a table that had no less than 4″ of rock in it — we almost lost all drinks and food on 1 or 2 occasions.(Which apparently the waitress knew about, but didn’t know how to fix. ???) The menu reads super fun — sets you up for thinking you’re in for a great night. Our waitress was nice enough but not well trained on food and beverage(these important misses on basics continued throughout the experience — as I went from 4 stars to 3 to 2). I will say the KFC(Korean Fried Chicken) was very good — no complaints there at all. I also appreciated the fairly priced $ 14 half bottle of KJ chard — my wife tried the Sake Bang — a cloying mess of melon liqueur, lychee sake and juices — in a ziploc bag(authenticity is a major issue at this restaurant). Brussel sprouts were butchered — not well roasted and covered in a sweet gloppy sauce. Japanese tater tots were mini sweet potato tots with a breading straight out of your grocers freezer — the spicy mayo tasted exactly like Helmans. Again, authenticity lacked! Then for the item that made me immediately request the check — their Russian Roulette sushi special. $ 14 and they said it was for two, although it was a traditional 6 piece roll. The gimmick is that one of the rolls is hot(spicy), so you’re supposed to go back and forth until someone gets the hot one and then quenches their thirst with the included sake shot — sounds fun, right? I’ll cut to the chase — worst roll ever(mostly fake crab food), executed terribly(cut so thin every piece feel apart) and the spicy piece was so disturbingly hot I had to chug everything on the table and eat white rice to attempt to assuage the painful burn my mouth was experiencing(and I love spicy hot — this was tasteless discomfort) — even the sake shot was wrong — lychee I’m guessing cause it tasted like sugar water. Sorry guys, but this place, owned by the same folks who do the Bull Market next store(see my previous comments about challenges there) clearly do not understand that without transparent authenticity, today’s consumers are just to savvy to fall for gimmickry — please go do some homework and bring us the two new great additions Himmarshee needs and deserves. Good luck!

order from delivery dudes for this restaurant and it was basically fastfood quality food. Spent 50.00 on a bunch of things and ended up having to order pizza afterwords. Very disappointed and a huge waste of money. This is what we had Asian Nacho’s– this was actually editable and decent Thai Brussel sprouts-soggy and sauce didn’t really match with it. bearly editable, threw out Philly Cheese Steak Roll-bland and fatty, i had to spit my piece out cuz it was hard and was taking too long to chew it. uneditable threw out Bangin’ Chicken Roll– chicken didn’t have any crisp to it as if it wasn’t freshly made and was taken from a cooler but at least it was editable enough to get the entire roll. Bangkok Street Noodles– taste was horrible and noodles were soggy def tasted reheated– uneditable. threw out

This was a tough one for me. I wanted so badly to love this place. I even said multiple times during the meal«I’ll definitely come back and try more items again» trying to convince myself that it was worth it. Well, toward the end of the meal I realized this is a solid three star eatery, great to meet friends for cocktails during happy hour but their food isn’t really«all that» just yet. We ordered their fried chicken after reading some rave reviews. Just got the 3 pieces so we could taste it. It had a great crispy crunch to it but was so overwhelmingly salty that I could hardly stomach finishing my little piece. We also ordered the«peanut butter pad thai» and I will disclose that we knew it wasn’t going to taste like truly authentic pad thai but it sounded fun so we got it. I hate to be a Debbie Downer but this was literally inedible. Tasted like paste was used in the noodles and it lacked any true flavor except the overpowering peanut butter flavor, which was not complex enough to make this dish edible. We quite literally left ¾ of the dish untouched. We ordered two sushi rolls, one from their typical sushi menu and one from their«gringo» menu. This is where I think the restaurant shines. Their«gringo» sushi was different than one would expect but it was delicious. We ordered the Hawaiian mango roll which had BBQ pork, mango, and a few other non traditional ingredients. It was delicious and fun! As was their lobster roll. If and when I return I will stick strictly to their fun sushi menu and try a few signature cocktails.

This place is pretty unique. The menu is bizarre and super creative. Someone can get overwhelmed with the many options but it’s worth the try. Brittany was an amazing server! She really took care of my friend and I. On the night we dined(Thursday) there weren’t that many people but the ambiance was dope and like modern warehouse like. We ordered 2 rolls which were shrimp tempura and jalapeño with cream cheese. We opted out of the Korean Nachos but it was for sure on the list. I can’t wait to try their drinks next time.

For my 100th review I decided to try out CHOW and I was not disappointed. This area of Fort Lauderdale is supposed to be one of the more popular locations for young locals to spend their evenings but for some reason every time I come to this area it feels a little ghosttownesque. It was a Sunday night before Columbus Day and I didn’t get home from work till late so we headed on over to CHOW to check out some Asian fusion. There were 3 tables occupied with 1 waiter seating and taking orders and 1 guy behind the sushi bar. I think CHOW is an extension of another restaurant so it didn’t feel like a 2 man operation, it just appeared so at first. To start I had a bang, which was a nice drink served in a bag. It’s trying to be cool like the bag drinks they serve in asia but this one had a ziplock top, doesn’t exactly feel authentic but I wasn’t here for authentic so I enjoyed the effort and really needed a drink. This one went down like butter. Then comes the food. The menu is extensive and there were so many things that sounded good. We decided to try an item or two from each section and everything was really good. I don’t really like fried chicken but I read that it was voted best in Fort Lauderdale so we got the 3 piece and holy crap it was good. The drum sticks were HUGE and the sauce and skin was amazing and there was no pink meat but nothing was burnt or over cooked ! It was basically a chicken miracle. Other memorable items include the best tuna tacos I’ve had in a while and some really unique sushi. I was very interested to try their gringo sushi and once you get over the fact that it’s not fish it’s really quite delish. The service was super fast and friendly(except please don’t tell me you’re tired, I just worked a 13 hour shift listening to people who don’t feel well, drink a red bull and get over it) and the décor is well done. I give 100% thumbs up for my 100th review. I want everyone to come try this place out and keep the doors from closing but don’t get too carried away, I don’t like waiting for a table.
