This is the worst place I’ve been to in a while the waiter was rude and the food was horrible I had wings and calamari bad isn’t even the word!!! Don’t go there, I’m never going back!!!

Update: the numerous times I have been back since have all been fun and enjoyable! The food has gotten better and tastier; the bartenders are great; the staff is pleasant and there is more entertainment on weekends then in the past. We went in mid February for a night out(with a movie down the street at Cinemart) and we happened to be at the bar sitting next to either the owner or manager. Very nice woman who wished us well and thanked us for coming. Moe the bartender is awesome when he’s there too(he was that night). The music that night was a jazz band(of sorts) who played very well. The food we had was amazing as usual(the wings, the fish tacos and mac and cheese; then the pasta with scallops and more fish tacos!!) Love this place and highly recommend it! Will keep going back for sure!

We have been here a handful of times now. The staff have always been friendly but initially the service was slow, they seemed to be consistently understaffed. Tonight my family and I went and service was on point, pleasant as usual, food came out in a timely fashion and everything was good. My husband enjoyed his beer and even the music was on point. So Previously with the service issues i’d have give this place a 3 but I’m bumping it up. If the good service continues I’ll raise it up to a 5. So far we have tried the burger which is good, my kids often get the grilled cheese which is HUGE and is more than enough for two kids to split, it comes with a ton of fries. Tonight my husband had the cuban sandwich which was huge and he some how ate the whole thing. I ordered the ribs the meat fell off the bones and were cooked well. Overall I say check it out! I don’t know if they hired more staff or got a new chef but all of the stars aligned today and I hope they keep up the good work!

A staple for us since they are kid friendly… well…they were kid friendly! We’ve enjoyed Met’s post season(without kids). We enjoy the bar and wait staff! We’ve also put up with cold food, a two hour wait for food with a reservation(10⁄25), eating in the dark because the new waitress couldn’t figure out how to turn them on(11⁄27) and inconsistent food… because they did not mind our children being there. The kids enjoyed being able to play ping pong, pool or using the chalk walls. However after our experience on Saturday we will not eat there ever again. Yes there were 16 of us(8 children) and we know that it can be difficult to work around them. They are not angels… but we keep them in check and make sure that other patrons are not being bothered. As we were going over the $ 600+ check the manager/owner came over to the moms and complained that we were«There since 5» and the kids were not behaving. In essence we had to leave. They had at that moment became a little loud because the DJ that they hired was playing music and they were dancing. We voiced our displeasure and the woman told us she didn’t care. When one person told her we won’t be coming back she said«good!». If she just spoke to us with a little respect there would not be a problem and we’d be going back very soon!

I was pretty disappointed with my experience at this place after reading decent reviews on Unilocal.I ordered the Mission Style burrito with chicken and I ended up having a huge chicken bone in my wrap. I’m not the type of customer to complain but I almost choked it was so large. The entire place smelled like marihuana too. We won’t be returning here.

Susanna and Jaime are great! Moe the bartender makes awesome drinks. When Chris is cheffing it up the food is fantastic. I love them overall!

I have to say that there food over all is pretty good. I had the skirt steak and it was really done and the the mash potatoes and sauce was GREAT! I’ve been here several times and would recommend this place to all the locals. It’s also a good place for kids. Paddle ball table, ping pong, chalk boards and dart boards for there entertainment.

Very happy surprise. Decent buffalo wings to start. I had the mussels and my son had the ribs. Both very good. Best part was the quartet playing jazz Christmas tunes. We’ll be back.

Passed this place several times in the last couple years and kept meaning to check it out, well finally went in there with my husband last night, and it was delicious !!! We had cheeseburgers that were to die for ! We will be back real soon to sample more of their food . Also the beer was nice and cold and they had a great selection! Prices were reasonable

I’m bumping The Other Place up to 4 stars because we’ve eaten here since my previous review and the food is on par with what I expected from the people who run Dirty Pierre’s. I highly recommend the fried chicken — three large juicy pieces, perfectly battered and crispy but not soggy, with a sriracha/maple dipping sauce on the side. awesome mashed potatoes too — definitely not the boxed Ore-Ida junk. service is very friendly and usually reliable with regards to speed. last time we came on a Sunday for lunch and it was packed with a lot of large groups(several kids’ sports teams + their parents, and another big party as well), so the limited waitstaff seemed stretched thin; however, when we did get our food it was fresh and hot. our waitress pointed out that this was a fluke and it’s usually not that hectic for lunch. glad to see they are hosting plenty of events here. lots of live music — rock, motown, jazz, country, and more on the calendar. even have some local breweries doing«tap takeover» weeks. I apparently just missed Finback’s «tap takeover» week by two days, which means I’ll have to keep a closer eye on the events calendar. while I do like the Austin Street bars, The Other Place is a reminder that I need to go drinking on Metropolitan more often.

Always have been treated well there from the first time we walked in the place. Go about once a week now and have never been disappointed.

A great place, I enjoy this bar restaurant While my gorgeous Italian German Boyfriend is patiently awaiting my arrival on a friday evening, this is one of my favorite places to stop, and rest my tired legs after a long 2 ½ hours drive from Pennsylvania to New York. The atmosphere has a very comforting feel of old friends welcoming you inside. The Bartender is a fun loving, friendly guy with an amazing personality(Moe thats for you). The cooks and barbacks are pretty awesome as well. The food is always appealing and the drinks are just as good. Its definaltely a relaxing date night, sports game day type of place, where you can be yourself and EAT, DRINK&BEMERRY!

I haven’t been here in a while. Stopped in with my BFF for a drink and light bar bites. Ran into an old /young bartender friend. Always good to run into someone you haven’t seen. Nice place good food they need some sort of live music with various themes jazz soft rock etc. To Keep the locals and newbies wanting to explore coming back again. I’d come back for good food and drink.

Great place for a casual meal. The food is expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. I had the pork chop that was perfectly prepared. We also had the crab cake appetizer that was all crab with no filling. My wife had the white sangria which she loved. The restaurant is also kid friendly. We love the Other Place.

Very big bar/restaurant in my opinion. The place is very clean and the drinks are decent, however food isn’t so great. I had the calamari and it didn’t really taste like calamari at all… The staff are super nice though!

Stopped in here for some drinks last night. A two drink order of a Hennessy & Coke and a Heineken was $ 19. A little steep I think.

Decent tacos, nice bartender, but just an odd looking place to me. Nice people everywhere tho. This is not a trendy place by any means, but it is functional for drinking and getting some decent bar food before a movie.

3 and ½ stars but stiil not Dirty Pierre’s. Todd Wolfe band last night was great! Service is terrific. Drinks were good and strong and they are very accommodating. Food has improved some but they don’t have specials like clams and chorizo that Dirty Pierre’s offers. The hot honey wings were devoured, fish tacos were good. Butternut squash soup was yummy and sweet if a bit too thick. Chicken remoulade was very good as were the mashed potatoes, fried chicken and grilled chicken sandwich(which is larger at Dirty Pierre’s). It is a nice, friendly local spot and we will keep returning.

I was excited to stop over at The Other Place a few times since its creation and I found it a relaxing environment to enjoy lunch with a friend, with a client, a neighbor. A good meal, filling enough for any appetite at a fair price in a trendy portion of Metropolitan Ave is a reason is why I frequented The Other Place
