Plaza Continental Cleaners

Having lived across the street from Station Square for years, it was a pleasure to have many services within a half of a city block distance.
The relationship between my taylor/​dry cleaner is an important one to me as is my butcher, fish monger, bakery owner, you get my point. Plazas owner is a great guy and enjoyable outside the confines of the shop, we played golf together. l and had a blast. Even when at my favorite bar Dirty Pierres, I stop in to Plaza to say a hello and chat a bit.
After many years with the Metropolitan Opera doing costume design, the cleaners was opened, which is about the time I was in my clothes horse phase which worked out to be a great fit, both literally and.figuratively. Canali, Versace Caravali, Valentino and more, the suits flew off the stores display (Sachs 5^th Ave) and into Plaza I went, many times with clothes piled so high I could barely see over them.
There’s no question that my satisfaction at Plaza Continental Cleaners is way above any taylor and dry cleaner I’ve used prior. Ten years later I am still a client although I’ve got to travel a few blocks as opposed to a few steps. Hopefully the roof work will be completed by spring, its a pretty building.

I used to go to this place all the time because it was a large facility that did cleaning on premises, so I decided to go in and get my blazer cleaned. The owner said he would not dry clean it since the inside lining was ripped so he offered to reline it for me. I agreed and asked him how much it would cost, he told me, it wouldnt be expensive and he would give me a good deal. Alright, stupid me agreed to it since I thought he was a nice old man trying to do me a favor. This is where it gets sordid. I came back a week later and was presented with a $ 125 bill. I was happy with the results, hey who wouldnt be impressed by a deep red silk staring back at you. The owner invited me to his tailoring room to try it on. I walked in and shouldve known something was wrong when he locked the door behind him and told me I need to take off my clothes and asking if I had a boyfriend. I took off my top because it was rather thick and then he ordered me to take my BRA AND PANTIES OFF! As I responded with disgust, he shushed me and told me to be quiet! I started getting dressed and he started making rude comments about my figure. For anyone out there reading this, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS
