Overall satisfied with the service I receive from the staff every time I visit the store. The staff is all very sweet and knowledgable. They really care about you and your pet’s needs. So glad that there is a pet store like this in the neighborhood.

I brought in my Miniature Schnauzer for grooming that cost 60+tax, when I got home, my wife realized they didn’t trim his nails and didn’t give him a bath, I asked for grooming, not just cutting his hair, and for 60 bucks? This is a place any pet owners should definitely avoid!

The staff is very helpful! And there is a huge selection of anything and everything a pet could need!

Great service. Workers are polite and appreciate when I’m polite back to them. My white pug loves this store. They always carry plenty of Blue Buffalo and Health Extension. They Always give me puppy samples of all sorts.

I was very pleased with the service that I received. I have been on the hunt for PROPAC dog food that my puppy loves but I was not having any luck. I finally came across Pet Menu’s information on the company website. Two rings then the girl that answered the phone so nicely and gave the great news that they had one bag available. She put it the side for me, gave me a $ 2 coupon and used the store coupons on my purchase. Great service!!!
The dog supply section had a good amount of variety. Some collars, leashes and toys that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I signed up for the reward card and even though it is out of my way, I will be back!

I really like this store. They have the biggest variety of cat food/​supplies around flushing, worker are nice and helpful.
I very much disagree about previous reviews that said the stock is dusty and old. They turn things over very quickly, not sure how that could be accurate.
You should try them.

Pet grooming: the ladies did a great job in washing and cutting my small dogs hair. I was very pleased. It cost about $ 45 and they accept coupons! I will be coming here with my havanese again in may/​June when it gets warm.
Pet food & supplies: They have a limited supply of dog food in inventory and some of the food has been on the shelves for some long that they collect dust and don’t appear to be very fresh.
The sales floor people are not helpful at all and have limited knowledge on pet food and health.

I like the service here. I don’t know why they have a total of 2 – 3 stars. I went in to buy crickets to give to my bearded dragon. I don’t like how they have boxed crickets (because you never know how much are alive/dead).This kind of stuff matters because my bd eats only live ones. The staff gave me the freshest box with everything alive. He checked many boxes before handing me this one. We also got a chance to talk about terraniums. He didn’t seem to be like a regular business man because after talking about a cheap terranium I found on Craigslist, he was insisting that I buy the one on Craigslist. I also got a container of superworms which were also very fresh. I liked the friendly, one-​on-​one individual service and advice and fresh bugs. Parking is also not bad when compared to Petland Discounts on Main Street, Flushing. So, another plus!

Talk about a terrible experience.
I needed to buy fish food for a fish I just acquired from a friend. I call asking what time they close. They said 7:30pm and I rush there and get there exactly on time, but the door was locked. I could see the workers by the register chatting and laughing (and one working hurriedly counting cash so they could close and run out of there). I knock on the door, and the guy looks up at me and goes back to chatting. Knock again and he looks up at me again and goes back to his conversation. This happens for another 3 times. Now, obviously they were closed, but since they still had customers inside and I happen to make it there exactly on time, I thought they’d make an exception. Not only that, but the guy didn’t even respond to me to tell me that they’re closed. At least acknowledge the customer and say «sorry, we’re closed» or something. It was very clear that the people working there just couldn’t wait to get out of there and that says a lot about their work atmosphere.
Sorry for the rant, but there’s too many pet stores around these days to go back to Pet Menu. Hope this warning about their customer service helps you somehow.

This is not a review of Pet Menu, the store, but a comment about confusion generated when an AD (this one about shit zhu puppies) appears in a REVIEW about a a food store THAT DOESN’T SELL DOGS.
Repeat– Pet Menu, on Northern Blvd., does not sell dogs.
I don’t care WHAT the suited jerk below has to say about where he purchased an animal. Personally, his choice to purchase an animal when hundreds are killed for lack of space is disgusting…
But the point is, if I want to see reviews about PET MENU, I do NOT want to hear about this guy’s opinion of another store, in Manhattan.
Adverts related to puppy mill suppliers should NOT appear in reviews about pet food distributors. That kind of «crossing» is initally surprising/​upsetting and IRRELEVANT to the store being reviewed.

This place is very close to my apartment, but I will not come here again.
I called up last week to ask if they carried live reptile food (crickets and mealworms). A day or so later I went an hour before I had to go to work. After finally finding somewhere to park, I walk in and wander around the whole store before asking the cashier where to find the live food. The person she called to help me said they were completely out of both crickets and mealworms, and no one could tell me when they would be getting more in. No one offered to make it up to me in any way, all I got was «Sorry.» Never again.

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s usually a quick in and out within 5 minutes for me. They carry my brand i usually go straight for that and i don’t linger to browse. They do have alot of stuff and price is reasonable but atmosphere could be way better. if you don’t know about any product or have questions, best to go back home to do some research instead of asking the staff. The staff is very young and customer service is not their forte. I was there one time and another customer got into an argument with the girls behind the counter. The girls kept talking back to the customer and laughing amongst themselves at the customer which i thought was extremely rude and uncalled for. The customer asked to speak to the manager. The manager (asian guy, not sure his name) came out and listen to the customer’s complaint and he just basically looked down and had nothing to say! (I think the girls knew that the manager would not do anything cuz when the customer asked to speak to the manager, they mockingly and sarcastically said, «sure, you want the manager, i’ll get you the manager!»). Then the customer and the girls started up the argument again WHILE the manager was present and still he had nothing to say and just stood on teh sideline and kept quiet. So if you’re wondering how the customer service deteriorated to this level, there’s your answer. And don’t bother to speak to the manager if you have any disputes with the girls cuz you will only get a deer in a headlight gaze from the manager.
The grooming section in the back… Looks DINGY, small space, no window, etc. But here, Angela does a FANTASTIC JOB ith my dog.

the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because the staff is young, inexperienced n quite useless… the product selection is great, especially 4 birds, n these other reviews were ppl couldn’t return things strike me as odd… I say that because I bought a bird bulb 4 my birds with UVA/​UVB light to give my birds sun… they r not cheap anywhere by any means… got home n realized I couldn’t mount it properly on my homemade cage so I went bake about a week after 2 return it… the owner told me politely how they don’t take returns on bulbs because u can’t tell if they were used which is true, u can use these $ 30-​$ 40 light bulbs a month or 2 n they look the same… he said he would make n exception so I returned the bulb then proceeded 2 buy almost $ 100 n bird toys n food… can’t comment on the groomer cause I only own birds…

Pet menu does stock a variety of foods and has a pet grooming area located in the back of the store. However, this seems to be the only appealing concept.
A few months ago I had a problem with Pet menu when I tried to return my cats expired food. My cat was not eating her food. I assumed it was a passing phase and I never questioned the food to be expired. However, after a days my cat still wasn’t eating, so I decided to check the expiration date. Lo and behold, her food was expired.
When I kindly tried to return my expired bag of food, they refused to accept it, even though I was a loyal customer for years. I purchased a new bag every 3 – 4 weeks! no way did that bag sit there and just expire in my house. I was basically called a liar and completely disregarded without a solution.
The manager simply stated how it was ‘against the store policy’, and how he wouldn’t be able to return it back to the vendor. I was shocked and furious. The manager’s correct response should have been, ‘Our policy is _​_​but we want to make this right. This is what I can do since you have been coming here for years…“
Instead, he seemed irritated to speak to me in the first place, he was a rude prick with absolutely no customer service skills.
I’ve been going to Petco since. The prices the same. The friendly staff is helpful in every way possible.
I hope no one will go through the same problem!

Good selection of pet foods is the only positive comment. Worst customer service in all of Queens… beware of bullies behind the counter. Rude and nasty team up together for an experience you’ll never forget. A trip to this store will send you running to the nearest competitor. (I do like the groomer and the way she cares for my dog.)
This store has no regard for customers… kick one out the door and a new one will appear. Please hire a staff that knows how to speak without insulting the customers. Even the stock crew can be rough and rude… SCARY PEOPLE:-(

Price may be the only issue. I could take a ride to walmart or order online for less but if you don’t get to do either Pet Menu has all of what your pet needs. It’s local. Staff is friendly. You can bring your pet as long as they are in a leash.

I really don’t think pet menu is that bad. The service isn’t good or bad. They have a lot of stuff that you can’t find in most pet stores.
I have to go here because they are the only pet store I know in Queens that carry the brand (Evo) I feed my cats. Another nice thing is that they sell packaged raw meat for dogs and cats if you wanted to feed your pet the holistic raw diet.
I also like their selection of pet toys.

I work long hours and sometimes I forget to get my dogs food. She eats a less well known brand. Pet menu carries it which is a huge plus since I can walk there from my apartment. I don’t own a car.
I have not had any issues with their customer service. In fact, it is there customer service that is prompting me to write this review. Yesterday, I ran out of food in the morning. My work schedule was particularly hectic yesterday and the first LIRR train home that I could catch was the 8:19. That did not get me to Pet menu until 8:45. They closest 8:30. I really didn’t want to go home to my dog without her dinner. Fortunately, when I got to the store, the lights were still on. I knocked on the door and a man (I assume the owner) came and said that he was closed. I explained the situation and he went and got my bag of food. Despite the register being closed and counted he let me buy the food.
I think that is great customer service. I have been coming here for about a year and will continue to do so. The only reason why they don’t get 5 stars is the pricing. It’s not consistent. Some things are very well priced, like my food. Others are ridiculous. I bought a retractable leash at petco for $ 25. Pet Menu was selling the same thing (different brand though) for $ 45. Same thing with poop bags petco sells their home brand for $ 5.99 for 180 bags. Pet menu is $ 11.99. In Pet Menu’s defense, Petco is large enough to have their own home brand where as Pet Menu is not. All this means is that I check the pricing before I buy. I do that most places anyway.
All in all, I will continue to be a client of Pet Mene

I’ve been coming here for about a year now and I wish I stopped giving Pet Menu chances. It looks like the dollar store of pet stores, and that’s not a good thing. Staff is very young and inexperienced. They might know where things in the store are located but they can’t help you with products/​recommendations at all. I’ve had my puppy groomed here twice and they were both nightmares. She had her first haircut EVER here when she was less than 7 months old and she was traumatized. They did a B– job and when my baby came home she was not herself at all. She was lethargic and sad, and couldn’t even look at herself in the mirror. Her second trip they trimmed her nails too short and her coat had plenty of stray «chunks» that I had to even out myself. The groomer is EXTREMELY unprofessional. She brings all her children to work with her and cannot work quickly and efficiently. She works on her own time and once lost my puppy’s collar. The manager had to find it himself because she rushed out the store as soon as she was done.
Everything is ridiculously overpriced. My last and final visit here I spent $ 64 on a box of pee pads, an 8 count box of wet food, a slip on doggie finger toothbrush, and doggie toothpaste. Like others have mentioned this is the only pet supply store in the area but I’d travel farther for a store worth my business.
