I’ve been to this place twice thus far. And I have to say, both times, not so impressed. I think it was all hyped up for no reason. The dish that they’re known for, the spicy nakji bokkeum, is WAYTOOSPICY. I asked«mild» both times and both times, the dish came out spicier than average. The platter comes out with udon noodles and some greens that you mix on the plate. It’s fairly good but now that I’ve tried it twice, I think I’ve had my fill.

They should change their store name. Yoojung Nakji is a famous name for their spicy stir fried octopus. This restaurant does not serve same type of NakJi Bokum. It is just spicy and that is all. Most of good nakji restaurants in seoul have their distinct flavor, although they are spicy but there is always this unique savory flavor, which is a signature for most Mookyo dong style. I was so happy to see that finally there is a nakji specialty restaurant in queens, but my happiness only lasted few days after I visited here. I will not be coming anymore.

I tried their nakji and soondae dish. The soondae was around thirty bucks and the nakji was about $ 26. I forgot the precise name of the soondae dish we ordered but attached a photo so hopefully that helps… a little. But that thing was SPICY. My family and I can down some spicy food but that had our noses running. But it was tasty… Just too spicy so I couldn’t even fully enjoy the meal. We also got the nakji(also forgot the name of it but see photo) and that wasn’t that spicy at all. There is definitely some level of spiciness in there but it wasn’t even close to being too spicy for us. If you can’t eat spicy food, this thing may be too spicy for you so you might want to reconsider. Place seems clean and service was alright. Might come back to try other dishes!

If you can handle the spicy food, go try it out. I don’t usually eat baby octopus dishes if it’s not in Korea(all of octopus dishes i’ve tried in korean restaurants in the states seemed to use frozen octopus and it doesnt taste good as it should be) but this place’s octopus dish was by far the best i’ve tried.

Really delicious nakji but like others have said, its really spicy. A bit too spicy. For every nakji i ate, i had to take 3 bites of rice each time. Had it to go so not sure about the service. When im in the mood for some spicy food, i’ll be back.

I saw this is new restraunt and decided to stop by with my friends as we all love seafood, and we all loved it alot. The place seemed friendly and had nice simple decorations with soft music in the background. We ordered almost each item on the menu to try everything out and all of them were amazinggg. Due to some of the friends who couldnt eat spicy food, we ordered two of the squid platters which had one mild and the other at the first level of spicyness. The platter came out with big chunks of squid and was abundant compared to other restraunts that overcharge for only a small amount. We gave them a big tip for their generous sweet rice tea at the end. I think this will be our new favorite place. MUSTTRYY

My aunt took me out to eat here because it recently opened and we wanted to try something new. The food was really delicious but extremely spicy – to the point where you get slightly light-headed from trying to extinguish the fire in your mouth.(Btw, I don’t have a strong tolerance for spicy food so obviously I was dying lol). But that’s not why I’m giving this place two stars. It’s the horrible service! There was only one waitress I believe and she couldn’t remember anything we asked her. She took at least ten minutes for everything and if she forgot, she didn’t even come back. It doesn’t help that the restaurant itself is divided in two so the side with less people(our side) and slightly darker lighting gets ignored. We were very patient with the waitress since it seemed like they were really short-staffed, but it really got out of hand. When we asked for the check, we waited so long for the waitress to come back that we could’ve just left and she wouldn’t have even noticed. Even the next table who were finished before us were still waiting for their check! After what seemed like eons, she brought our check and we finally paid. As we were leaving, she totally ignored us again. The restaurant wasn’t even busy! What a disappointment.

Drove by Northern with my mum a week or so ago and when we saw this place, she said that Mookyodong is a part of Seoul that is known for their nakji(octopus). With those nostalgic thoughts in mind, mum, dad and I ventured out there tonight on this snowy evening. It is nestled on a block with Carvel and Annie Nails, across the street from San Soo Gap San. The restaurant is sparsely decorated, kind of typical of a Korean eatery. There are chandeliers on the ceiling and bamboo tree wallpaper on the long wall which makes no sense to me but whatever. The small menu is written out in Korean, Chinese underneath and in English… But the English doesn’t describe what the item is, it just spells out the Korean word. Which helps me to read out the Korean by actually reading the English, but I would imagine this would leave the non-Korean diners at a loss. Just sayin’. We ordered the ‘Mookyodong Yoojung Nakji’ which is sautéed octopus… I would think that this is their specialty dish since it’s named after their restaurant. On the menu, it is B1(makes it easier for everyone). We also ordered the ‘Dae Goo Tang.’ Not sure why they didn’t spell out this dish or give it a number… But it’s the time fourth item from the bottom listed as $ 15.99, also known as spicy cod soup. We received a good amount of ‘ban chan’ aka side dishes; lots of veggies — mum liked it a lot. The soup came out shortly after and we asked for some rice for it. Yum! The cod soup was spicy, but refreshing. The cod was flaky and not over cooked. There were some clams and shrimp in there as well. The sautéed octopus came out minutes later. There was udon and soybean sprouts next to it. All them all together if you’d like. Holy moly! This dish is SPICY!(A little back story: I am obsessed with spicy. Addicted to spicy. Cannot-go-for-more-than-a-day-or-two-without-something-spicy addicted to spicy.) But this — this was another level of spicy. Pretty much at the point of it’s so spicy that you can’t even taste the flavors of the spice type of spicy. My dad is even more addicted to spicy than I am and even he was like, «What the heck…» So we asked for more udon to mix into the dish; we figured that would help tone down the spice a bit.(Didn’t work.) By the end of the meal, we were all sweating.(Literally. Had to wipe my forehead.) Mum who enjoys a level of spicy food like a normal person would did not enjoy at all. Dad and I didn’t hate it… But I think we all agreed that we won’t be back. There are just too many better options available minutes away. Originally, I was gonna give this place 2 stars… But as they are new and it looks like I’m the first to review, I’m going to give them 3 stars. Everyone deserves a fair shake. ^^
