This comment is only for the one employee, the head cashier named Hyunghye Kim. She was packing groceries in my line. I pushed the cart for my sister to put away but before my sister can reach the cart she pulled back towards me and almost hit me in the abs. The force that she had doing that if I had not stopped the cart with my hands it would’ve hit me and we would’ve had a huge problem. She saw it happen and just stared at me. Head cashier or not that was absolutely rude!

I’ve been coming to this Hmart on a weekly basis, trying to pick up some hard-to-find ingredients that would help me replicate some of my mom’s home cooking. For that, Hmart is the place to go. All of the shelves are heavy with nearly every Asian ingredient you need, from acorn powder to seaweed. The only problem is trying to find help if you need to locate a product. I’m not sure why everyone who works here is so miserable, but if you come and shop here, know that you’re not a customer; you’re a nuisance. I tried to chalk it up to chance and tell myself that the guy who waved at me dismissively when I asked for help retrieving an item from a high shelf was just having a bad day. I figured the man who bluntly ignored a few of us when we asked for assistance(in both English and Korean) must be nursing a headache. I figured the stock boy was just a random grump when he rolled his eyes at me when I couldn’t locate the kombu. But when I told the bagger that I didn’t need plastic bags because I’d brought my own reusable bag and he glared at me while muttering a few choice Korean expletives under his breath, I finally decided that this is just a supermarket with rotten customer service(I mean, really, what did he have against my trying to save them a couple of plastic bags?). Pricing(at least for the Korean goods) is usually fair and the selection is vast. To wit, I once spent nearly half an hour ruminating in the soy sauce aisle because they stock what seems like twenty different kinds. There are a select few aisles dedicated to ‘American’ goods, with things like cereal and canned goods, but they are always are overpriced and almost never worth the buy. The market is kept clean and there’s little clutter anywhere, even in the produce aisle where things like cuttings and discarded greens usually litter the floor. The prepared foods are great and turn out freshly made banchan, or side dishes, like dumplings, Korean pancakes, and rice cakes. Saturdays are especially fun for visits because of the samples but it seems like everyone seems to know it because those are also the days when the parking lot is packed and you end up having to wait awhile to find a spot. With a small eat-in Korean diner and a Paris baguette adjoining the supermarket, this could be a great place to shop but the way they treat customers is deplorable, and that’s not a word I throw around lightly. If you decide to come anyway, be ready to look for and retrieve everything you need for that homemade Korean meal on your own. You’ll probably find it here; just don’t ask for help.

The variety is ok the fish section is immaculate and the meat section is very good. But when i ask where is the red mustard leaf, nobody help me or understand me. If a customer ask you and you don’t know specially if its on sale and the sales person turn the other way then he or she is telling me i don’t want your money and don’t want to to shop here any more.

Their prices aren’t really that great. Cashiers are downright rude. If you’re not Asian, you’re a second class citizen. They don’t say thank you. They don’t acknowledge you if you say thank you. Don’t bother coming here, unless you like being treated disrespectfully.

H mart fan here. All H marts are super clean and organized. That’s why I always come here. All the cashiers think I’m Korean lol. They speak to me in Korean and I just tell them ‘sorry I’m chinese’. Very nice people. Seafood and meats are fresh.

The place in general is good place to shop. Clean and have many varieties, especially if you are looking for Korean and Asian food. They also have organic food, which is great. Pros: 1. Clean, 2. Fresh food, 3. Organic fruits and vegetables, 4. Generally friendly staff especially the women cashiers Cons: 1. The men cashier, especially the old man is racist and rude(he needs to realize he is in the USA not Korea!!!) … 2. The prices are OK but can be expensive compared to BJs and Traders Joe. 3. They keep the crabs in an open container and they are alive … they are all in one small container all suffocating and cant move :(… I understand they want to show customers that the crabs are alive, but come on guys. have some heart!!! Keep those crabs inside and give them more space to move. 4. No halal food here

The groceries are a bit overpriced except for the asian food products that you can’t get anywhere else. I would stay away from buying anything other than that. I am giving four stars because of the food court. The chicken dosirak and octopus bokkeum are amazing! This is no fast food court. You should order the food and shop around for 15 minutes before coming back. The parking lot can be a mess during rush hours times and on the weekends. Try to avoid the peak hours!

So — first thing’s first — i’ve lived near this site all my life, when it was an A&P grocery store to Waldbaums and now HMart. The parking has always been terrible, but right now it’s more terrible since it’s a new store and everyone is coming to check it out. But that’s ok i think for now. Even if it doesn’t lessen up — it’s a high traffic area and spots are always opening up. Inside it’s clean and intelligently organized. And had a great selection of food. The meats and seafood looked incredibly fresh. Prices were great. There was a little paris baguette amd a small eatery with a section outside where you can sit and eat. The restaurant seemed good but I didn’t try the food yet. Korea town is moving further and further up northern Blvd and this is a jumping point for expansion.

Stopped by on the second day of opening and was impressed by the size and variety of foods(Asian and American) and the sheer amount of ppl waiting in line. A part of me was hoping for mitsuwa type food vendors but sigh, it didn’t happen and I’ll still have to cross the bridge for my fix. However, there is a small paris baguette inside. The seafood area is much bigger than the hmart in flushing but they clearly underestimated the size of tanks for the huge fish stored in them(think of the 7 train during rush hour). Shout out to the bf, d, who said they needed more cashiers.
