Ugh, I’m so disappointed with how dirty this place has become. Don’t let the façade fool you, this is clearly a place that sweeps the dirt under the rug… that is when they do sweep. Everything is lightly rubbed down but you see very clear evidence of a lack of deep cleaning as the chairs are dirty, the soda station isn’t clean and the cabinets are covered in dripping soda… though the worst part is the pie fridge that is a focal point. This fridge is surrounded by towels that can cause a tripping hazard but most importantly, this fridge clearly isn’t working properly due to the mold that is building up in the glass and no one has cleaned the crumbs inside the case for weeks. This place has serious issues with clear health code violations from what I’ve seen in other Unilocal reviews as well as my experience. If these were just the visual issues, I don’t want to know what’s going on in the kitchen! It’s clearly in everyone’s best interest to avoid this place unless you’re looking for food born illnesses. I hope this place can improve themselves and care about what they’re providing to the people!

The menu at Swirl Bakery is nearly identical to the one at Celebrity Bakery(both in terms of menu items and presentation), so I ordered what I usually get at Celebrity(chicken salad plate). My meal was not remarkable, but that may be more because of my heightened expectations than the food itself. The portion size was fine, and everything looked well prepared.

Love the sunny, cozy, friendly atmosphere. First experience with menu and was very excited. However, concept trumps execution. The chicken salad left much room for improvement. Next time I eat cake. Clean though with decent coffee and a friendly, cute owner. I’d go back and give it a second chance.

We came in to get a baked treat. The cupcakes we had were very disappointing. They were very dry and the tops were stale. It seemed like they were probably old and sitting in the case for awhile. We also tried their cinnamon roll. It was also dry and seemed stale too. For a bakery, it seems they would take more pride in baked items they serve. I also noticed the restaurant was dirty. The air ducts on the ceiling are gross and the baseboards looked like they have not been cleaned in a long time. It also looked like the fountain drink machine had not been cleaned lately. On a positive note, the cashier was very friendly and provided great customer service.

I love this place! I bring clients there, I have had meetings there in the afternoon. The food is wonderful and the people are nice. What a great«non-chain» place to eat. Support local businesses like this great one!

Amazing local bakery with delicious sandwiches. I tried their original triple decker club, the chopped Asian and the Sunday company. Delicious. They have a variety of chicken salad sandwiches which are A1.

I decided to try Swirl instead of my regular cupcake stop. What a mistake. Their cake is bland and the frosting doesn’t taste homemade, more like it came from a plastic tub. I was very disappointed. I got a strawberry and a chocolate. How they’ve been voted Best in Denton County is beyond me. I’ll never go back and discourage my friends from wasting their money.

This is definitely a local restaurant. Nothing too special on the lunch menu and everything looks like you could have made it yourself. Last time I went, I got a salad with turkey, pecans, and dried cranberries. The lettuce was clearly just a bagged salad mix you could pick up at the store and the toppings were not much different. The desserts are pretty good though. They have a nice selection of cookies, cupcakes, and pies to choose from. Not a bad place to pick up a dessert.

Swirl Bakery is the definition of disappointment. I am a foodie at heart. I love indulging in dishes that I could not make on my own. Every dish at Swirl is precisely as listed on the menu. No love. No thought. Simply the ingredients as if they were pulled straight from bulk packaging. Take the Fandango Strawberry Walnut salad. The bowl was layered with romaine lettuce, strawberries, walnuts, bleu cheese crumbles and a dressing. You would be better off going to the salad buffet down the street at Market Street and pulling these ingredients yourself. The salad featured no imagination. The sandwiches are no better. The marble rye bread is often stale. The lettuce wilted. The meat warm. The«gourmet» chips greasy, burnt and unsatisfying. It doesn’t matter if it’s the the House Roasted Turkey or the Triple Decker Club. The cookies are advertised as baked fresh daily, although the ones that I received were dry and toasty. Not my doughy and warm preference. When the food at a grocery store down the street is a better value and tastier experience, it’s a great disappointment to me that a local business like Swirl Bakery is not putting in the passion and imagination for a unique experience.

Tried again hoping they got the crust on key lime pie right… they haven’t. The filling is great but so little of it compared to the crust for the price.

I have to say, this might have been the worst cake ever. It tasted fine, but I ordered this for a retirement party with about 50 people attending. I had a friend pick up the cake so I did not see it until it was too late. I cried from embarrassment. It was the ugliest cake ever. The writing was not legible, or even remotely spaced. When I contacted he bakery the next day to ask if this was really a good representation of their work, they did apologize and offer to make a new one. But the damage was done. If it was my bakery, I would have showed up, apologized in person and gave a full refund. You have to see the pic to really understand. My 10 year old could have done better.

Pros: They have mini cupcakes in tubes like Flintstones push up pops… DELICIOUS! They have a piano player on Saturdays that looks like Jessica Lansbury, how can you go wrong! Secretly I think she’s solving crime, but she also plays the keyboard quite proficiently. Their breakfast potatoes are awesome, their coffee is tasty, and they have good salsa. Cons: Ha yes, the have no personality! You cannot make a joke with anyone behind the counter, and I usually have to go up to the counter four times to get everything I need, ketchup for my hash browns, salsa, hot sauce, but I“m kind high maintenance condiment wise. But eh, I’m there for the tasty deserts, not to make a new friend!

Let me start by saying that I have been to Swirl Bakery over a dozen times. Don’t ask me why I continue to accept the torture they deliver. I guess I’m a masochist. The service is so extremely terrible that it is beyond words. I wanted so badly to like this place because it is within three miles of my home, and I love to support local businesses. I continued to go back and give it try after try, but every time I visit, I’m disappointed. The last time I was in there, I said something about how terrible their service is and how terrible their reviews are and they should take heed. The owner looked at me like I was stupid. Seriously, just sat there and stared at me. Didn’t ask why I thought that. Didn’t offer any reasoning. Didn’t say jack squat. My friend went there with her daughter who has a deathly tree nut allergy and the girl behind the counter told her there were no tree nuts on their menu, however, multiple sandwiches have the name pecan in the title. Dummy, that’s a tree nut. You could have killed her. They offer free kids’ meals with an adult entrée purchase on Mondays. That’s awesome except 1. If you don’t mention it, they don’t offer it. You have to be aware that it is the special. 2. If you do mention it, they stare at you like you’re stupid and like it’s the biggest pain that you even brought it up. They seriously have the rudest people working there, and the people who own it are worse. The kids meal comes with a cookie. When I took my children to the case full of goodies, I asked the owner, who was behind the counter, which cookies came with the kids meal. A variety that was arranged throughout the case was mumbled to me. I didn’t understand and asked for the information to be repeated. I was once again stared at. I’m beginning to get a complex at this point. The information was again repeated but the cookies were not in one central location and my children asked for something that wasn’t included. I suggested that they put the kids-meal cookies together, possibly on the very bottom so small children can see what they are allowed to choose from. Seriously… I must look like the biggest idiot on earth after the stare that I received at that comment. I have taken enough punishment from that place. I will never go back. And for the record, I’m pretty easy to please. The majority of my reviews and stars are high.

Strawberry Cake my husband bought for my BD was excellent. Fresh, moist and could taste the fresh strawberries. Will order from here again.

Honestly, I don’t understand the bad reviews here. The food is highly affordable and good for the price you pay. I’ve been coming here since it was celebrity and I’ve never had an issue with food. The staff is always more than happy to substitute anything I want to switch with the meal and the cakes are great! The chicken velvet soup is most definitely the best soup, and the grilled ham and cheese melt I imply delicious. Will for sure keep coming here.

Positive feedback first: I love their Cranberry Honey Chicken Salad, but that is about all. Their chocolate has a very strange taste so the brownies, thumbprint cookies. etc. all have a bitter and acrid flavor. The chocolate pie is good and is made with dark chocolate, but it is extremely rich. Share it three ways or you will have an extremely upset stomach. The lemon squares also have a different taste and I’ve had a sour stomach both times after eating them. This is not my go-to place for desserts! The interior is definitely girl-friendly and my husband felt a bit awkward in the restaurant. Fellow patrons are very close and I’ve witnessed people eavesdropping on others’ conversations and even spying on the photos in their phones. The staff often leaves something to be desired in regard to friendliness and helpfulness.

Atmosphere is very girly, cute, but the place is very run down. Some fresh paint and simple repairs would do this bakery good. So the food is nothing special, perhaps even a little less than average. I ordered the adult grilled cheese on wheat and a mini muffin. The grilled cheese had cheddar, avocado, and bacon. I mean it wasn’t like I was appalled by it or anything; it was just really mediocre.(Very bland and not fresh tasting) The flavors seemed muted. The mini corn muffin was quite delectable and moist, but I probably would not come back for a mini muffin. The texture was really good. Service was decent though. We came on a summer weekday for lunch and it wasn’t terribly crowded, but I took notice of the typical lunch hour rush. I couldn’t help but take some desserts to sample at home. The desserts were once again very bland, but I enjoyed the cookie more than the cupcake. I ordered a vanilla cupcake and a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. The vanilla cupcake tasted and resembled a sweet corn bread with a splash of vanilla, not to mention the dry, crumbly texture. I really did not like this. The icing was awful but wasn’t extraordinary either. The cookie was pretty nice though. It was the perfect blend of salty from the peanuts and sweetness of the chocolate. It could of been a tad softer though. All in all, unless you are having a massive craving for a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie(but honestly how can anyone mess up that combo), then I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Road tripping through Texas, we went out of our way to give this bakery a try based on what we found online. We checked the hours and found that this establishment was supposed to be open until 8pm on weekdays. However, upon arrival at 7:25 we found that they are only open until 7:30. On top on this, we found the place completely packed away rather than simply about to close the doors for the day. If you’re going to shut down at 7:00 rather than 7:30, then please change your doors and online listing to reflect that fact. It’s like they don’t really want your money. I advise the management that your employees are closing up earlier than they should be. If they are doing so in line with policy, then the policy should be realigned with a more customer centric attitude in mind. I can not comment on the food as I was told that the computers had been shut down for the day, «awhile ago.»

Omg! I finally found a good cupcake! I went in this evening to get a cupcake and decided to try the chicken salad sandwich too. The chicken salad was pretty good, would have it again. It was the version with the honey and cranberries. Now, on to the strawberry cupcake I tried. It was delicious! I have been searching for good cupcakes in the area and while Susie G’s in the mall is okay, it leaves a bit to be desired. The Swirl Bakery has the best strawberry cupcake I have ever tried! I also tried a petit four and while it was okay, it was not as good as ones I have had from other bakeries. I will definitely try other cupcakes and likely even try some other entrees.

Chocolate Pie = the best thing that ever hit my taste buds! What is so great about it you ask? Super chocolate flavor without being too sweet. I am not a big pie person and this pie takes the cake… so to speak! Thanks for the delicousness!
