While being seated to first booth on right, noticed roach on booth seat crawling around. Looking around noticed more crumbs around booth.

Last time I was there(June 10, 2016) a cockroach literally ran across my thigh while I was sitting at one of the booths near the door eating a milkshake. It’s always felt like the cleanliness factor needed improvement, but now I know I will never, ever come back. They should probably be closed down.

It was inexpensive and the staff was courteous. I got two poached eggs and bacon. Which were prepared fine. My partner had eggs, bacon and potatoes. The coffee was basically untouched after we tasted it. Yuck. The bathroom was dirty and I’m pretty sure there was dooky on the walls.

Awful experience. We arrived around 2pm on a Thursday afternoon to find the place less than half filled with people, and the atmosphere slightly dank and outdated – this is a 50s diner, but theme restaurants are supposed to make you feel like you’re *in* that time, not in a 20 year old version of a restaurant pretending to be a «50s diner». But my girlfriend had heard good things about this place and their shakes from her roommate, and so along with a BOGO50% off coupon, we ended up eating here. The first thing that I noticed was there was no host. The cashier greeted us after a brief awkward moment of wondering whether to sit ourselves or wait, and when asked, said yeah you can seat yourselves, so we went and found a somewhat quiet booth inside the restaurant. My girlfriend ordered a chocolate malt shake to start, and it came fairly fast, within 5 minutes. The shake was not bad, not too sweet, with a nice hint of malt flavor, but a bit underwhelming for her since she couldn’t taste the malt. There was a good amount to go around between the two of us, but for $ 4.29, it would have been pretty disappointing otherwise if we had gotten any less. Our server came and we placed our orders at exactly 2:01 – she got the fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes, veg, and garlic bread, and I got the Galaxy Burger(no cheese) with fries. We expected the food to come pretty soon. The place was not busy by any means, perhaps 6 or 7 more tables at the most and less than 25 people. We watched Paul Ryan’s non-endorsement of Donald Trump on the TVs on the wall and shivered quietly as the AC poured cold air on us. We talked about moving, but decided to tough it out and stay where we were. I checked the time, and it was 2:15. Just around this time, the table next to us – the one which had been just finished ordering by the time we stepped in, received their food. It didn’t occur to me that they had been waiting that whole time, but seeing their food come only now made me realize that we would be waiting a long time before we saw our food. I want to say that we waited about ten more minutes, but in reality it was probably only about 7 more minutes. So that would give us a total wait time of about 21 minutes, for an average looking burger and a plate of fried chicken and veggies. On to the taste: the burger was terrible. At 7.89 for burger and fries, the burger should be at least average. There was a large piece of iceberg lettuce sticking out one side, with the other side relatively lettuce free. The taste of the burger was not terrible, but the texture resembled one of those high school cafeteria or fundraiser cookout burgers, cooked way too long, then left to cool to about slightly over lukewarm, and with a firmness and chewiness resembling crumbly rubber. No part of the burger was offensive per se – the mediocrity was. The fries were soft, not bad: tolerable, if I myself had, for some reason, set my hot, crispy fries aside to cool and soften from the moisture and steam buildup, but just amateurish coming from the kitchen, which I guess should not be too surprising since food took about 20 minutes to arrive. Assuming that they took so long just because they had to fry up a batch of fresh chicken, then I hoped that my girlfriend’s meal would be a bit better. To my chagrin, and hers, the chicken was completely tasteless, except for a faint semblance of herb and the mostly one-note taste of the oil in which it was fried in. To the chef’s credit, the skin was crispy, and much more so than fried chicken from anywhere else; this, and the fact that it was hot, were the only redeeming qualities about the chicken. To reiterate, tasteless means there was almost no salt, which I guess could be considered a plus as well if a no sodium meal at a diner was expected. The vegetables had literally no salt or seasoning at all, not even butter or anything that a person could think of that would give them flavor. Literally just boiled in water and put on a plate. The mashed potatoes were said to be «freshly mashed» on the menu, but one taste of the watery potatoes made us suspect the worst, that it had indeed come out of a box. There’s no way to know for sure, and I suppose a food processor could have been involved at some point, but in almost all cases potatoes have been«freshly mashed», there has been evidence of that mashing in the forms of irregularities known as chunks and lumps. They are not perfect, but they give fresh mashed potatoes their texture that makes them more delightful and interesting to eat than baby food texture instant potatoes, which we all know and love. The key being know and love at home, or on a Wednesday with no meal ideas and getting home late from work, or camping, but definitely not as a part of a $ 10.29 meal. To sum up: we paid $ 24(after coupon + tip) for a worse meal than Five Guys, or even Wendys for the same price. Shakes were good, not worth risk of potentially having to eat here though, im

My wife and I were only passing through town but we were so fortunate to have eaten at the Galaxy Diner. Great friendly staff, delicious food, nice oldie feel. We got the Potsy Pot Roast and the California dreaming burger, both that were cooked to perfection. They have a large variety of shake flavors to choose from. We liked it so much we went back for breakfast and was not disappointed. Highly recommended if you’re ever in Flagstaff.

MMMMMILKSHAKES This review is solely based on their milkshakes This old-school diner is located off the historic route 66. Its everything you expect from the movies. The red plastic booths, the bar stools next to the counter, the waitresses in cute pink skirts, the juke box, games, etc. Its a nice blast from the past. I went to the counter to order one of their milkshakes and OHMYGOODNESS It was amazing! There is a menu full of 100 different combination milkshakes you can order, but you can also make any other combination too!(as long as they have the ingredients from the list). I ordered a Mint Oreo Brownie Milkshake. So yummy! Slight mint with blended oreo bits and chunks of gooey brownie. Its made from their soft serve machine so the consistancy is thick but not so think you can turn the cup upside down and it wont fall out, but thick enough that I could enjoy it eating a spoon :) If you sit at the counter, you can watch them make it in front of you. The portion is huge! You get whatever comes in the cute diner cup, plus ALL the extra in the cup they mixed it in. One is enough for 2 people to share, but its good enough that you definitely wont want to share! This was my highlight for food in Flagstaff. This place is in my old soul opinion the bees knees! The atmosphere is 40 – 50’s decade set. Lots of great Old Hollywood actor and actress portraits throughout. I believe on Saturday nights they even have rockabilly swing nights. The food is priced perfectly. The portions are gigantic. The coffee is good and strong, two cups was plenty for me.

The Galaxy Diner on Route 66! A good solid diner, the food was excellent. Just what you would expect from a diner on Route 66. It was a Friday night, and they had entertainment. A lone man, sitting on a stool, singing the hits of yesterday. Lots of pictures of celebrities and artifacts from days gone by hanging on the walls. But truly fun place to have a meal. I’ll go back when I’m in town again. The waitstaff was energetic and young.

We were looking for a good place to eat and as we pulled out of the parking lot to the hotel we were staying at, we saw this place. The service was great, the food was amazing(potato soup was sooooo yummy!) and it was a fun place to visit. I’ve been telling everyone if they visit Flagstaff, stop here to eat.

Food was bland and Lukewarm. Service was slow and unenthusiastic. And it was very expensive for what it was. We paid $ 30 for 2 coffees, an orange juice, a turkey sandwich, and a waffle with eggs and bacon. I would recommend giving this one a pass.

These people need some customer service training big time! Rude as can be, you could tell EVERYONE there hated being there and it showed! Will not be going to this place again!

This diner was a very fun experience. When you walk through the door, it feels like a trip back into time. Everything from the pictures on the wall to the trinkets on the shelves reminded me of the diners as you would see it in the movies. The service was friendly, and the food was very good and generous portions. The malt was an amazing first for me, it was the perfect finish to a great experience.

Cute diner and surprisingly large. My husband and I were just passing through and we’re happy to see that it was clearly a local joint and didn’t just cater to the travelers. The food was great. Best pancakes I’ve ever had. Service was prompt and not overly«fluffy» like most diners which we actually appreciated.

This place was so dirty! Food was mediocre and my shake left something to be desired. I was sitting where I could hear whoever was in the kitchen coughing over and over. I am hoping it was not on the food, their hand, the prep area etc. I really dislike when people up the Unilocal score on a below par eatery simply because of nostalgia. The mess under my table was probabky there for a decade, is that something to be nostalgic about? See my pics. The service was good, best part.

When you walk up to the Galaxy Diner you might get a little excited or you might think, «Oh great another 50s themed Diner.» I was on the hopeful side. It looked kinda cool with it’s silver lining and chrome with red accents. A full service counter and several booths on the perimiter. A young girl sat me down. I told her I would be ordering everything to go and while I waited I would love a glass of water. I ordered the california burger, triple decker club, fries, side of fruit, and two pieces of pie: cherry and apple. She brought me my water. I took a sip and it tasted like metal. I noticed the other two employees sitting in different parts of the restaurant fiddling around so I thought not to ask about it. I just didn’t drink it. Next to me an older man asked how long I’d been waiting. He questioned the quality of service and remarked about how great this place used to be. He canceled his order and left claiming he only had 30 minutes. I took the food to go and brought it back to our motel to eat. All of the food was mediocre at best and the pie was above average. This place has a lot of potential to anyone who wants to put a little extra effort into it. But as it stands I would say only come here for dessert. As for the other meals of the day, not in this Galaxy.

This beautiful typical diner is a very nice American place to eat. I’m from Belgium, and personally I had the best French fries in the USA here(and I’m here for a year now), really yummie! So this is a plus plus plus for me! The fish(fish and chips) was a bit less good than regular, too much fried taste and too less fish taste. I recommend you to take a milkshake, they’re delicious! I had one with chocolate taste, fresh icecream with milk and definitely not too sweet.

We were passing through Flagstaff and thought we would stop at an old diner on Historic Route 66. This cute little diner looked fun. We went in and it ha the 50s feel to it. The food was yummy and the prices were really good. We just had to try an old fashioned chocolate malt… I have had malts at a lot of different places and let me tell you, this was the best malt I have ever had!!! The only reason I am doing 4 stars and not 5 is because the bathrooms are in need of repair and a little cleaning. I totally recommend this diner!

Galaxy Diner!
