I love château Thomas winery, this one on 116 is no longer there. The Abe Martin series is delicious.

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I was practically out the door when my roommate approaches me and says, «hey, Château Thomas Winery in Fishers does $ 5 tastings on Sundays, do you want to go?» I hadn’t done anything fun all weekend, so I obliged. We made the quick trip to Fishers to get our drink on. We were greeted by a friendly sommelier that was very knowledgeable about the products and where the ingredients come from. He made the comment that the Oliver Winery in Bloomington uses grapes that are grown in the Midwest, while their products are made with grapes that are grown in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. They have a very diverse selection that is broken down into five categories: dry whites, classics, dry reds, sweet, and slender series. I had the 2008 Dry Riesling, Classic Chardonnay, 2006 Barbera, Fleur de Peche, and the Slender Blush. By nature, I tend to gravitate toward white wine because they are sweeter and smoother to me. But, I enjoyed the Barbera. And Château Thomas is the only place in the country(so they say) that offers Slender Wines. They are the world’s only naturally sweetened sugar free wine. I could go on and on about the benefits of Slender Wines, but this review is about Château Thomas, not the wines themselves. I digress. I was impressed that a small winery in Central Indiana offered a product that has been promoted by Playboy Golf and the Academy Awards. In addition to a great wine selection, they also offer cheese, crackers, and other products that can be paired for an optimal tasting experience. I had an enjoyable time here and my roommate and I both agree that we will be making a bi-monthly stop here.

My friend got married at the winery in Plainfield and LOVED it… but this tasting room wasn’t what we were expecting. They mention live music on Fridays in the Veranda Room — ROOM being the key word here. I thought it was outside. Nope. It seats about 40. I guess I was just disappointed by not having my expectations set correctly. It’s a nice little location, and the Château Thomas wines are nice. I just wanted something, well, different.
