I purchased a pair of reading glasses and regular glasses from them. It was a buy the lenses, get the frames free promotion, however the bill still totaled up to over 300 dollars. The reading glasses broke at the hinge after a year, and when I took them back to have them repaired, they said they were out of warranty, and they couldn’t be fixed. I didn’t have problem having to pay for the repair, but they indicated they wouldn’t even fix them, basically I had to trash them. The employee that waited on me implied because I got such a deal on the frames, they were close-out, which they do not tell you that at the time, and there’s nothing I can do.

This is the worst optical shop I have ever dealt with! And that includes optical shops from Australia and Asia! The lady at the counter is rude and pushy when she ask us to fill up and sign the agreement forms. Then when it comes to selecting the glasses. The service girl only showcase the most expensive glasses. As soon as we told her that this is beyond our price range, she disappeared and gone is the service. I was tired of their service so I went to Americas Best to do my glasses. Since I had my doctor check at direct optical, I wanted to ask for a different prescription. I call them and the crazy woman started arguing about why won’t my latest prescription work. I decided to skip this BS and just book appointment for a recheck. After the doctor recheck, I went to Americas best 3 days later and I already got my glasses in exactly 1 week period. Where as my wife who order hers earlier, she had to ring up the shop before they realize the glasses is already in the shop. They decided to give some stupid excuses but we all knew they are irresponsible people running the store.

2÷11÷15 — As I mentioned previously, I’ve used Direct Optical for years. I went back the other day to get a copy of my prescription because I wanted to order some additional glasses from an online company. The online company asked for the Pupillary Distance and when I didn’t have it, I emailed them. They said they need it to make the glasses properly. So, I called Direct Optical for that information. They said that they cannot and will not give it out, and it’s their property. I asked what the purpose is of giving the patient the prescription if they won’t give the necessary piece of information. I was told again that they won’t give it out. I am not happy. These are MY eyes and I should have the right to know everything about them. 11÷12÷14 — I like coming to Direct Optical because I want to support local businesses. I have been going there for years, and everyone is very friendly — and Cathy always calls me by name when I walk in. Dr. Hansen is also very personable and puts patients at ease with his friendly, gentle manner. The only thing I don’t like is the upselling; I always end up spending more than I had intended to. This time, I had 3 people telling me about the virtues of all the different options. Despite this, I have always been pleased with the service, and if there is a problem, they are happy to remedy the situation.

I have never been disappointed over the years with this Direct Optical. Excellent customer service — thank you Kathy and Steve! I never feel rushed or like anyone is trying to «make a sale». Just that you want me to be happy when I walk out the door. Dr. Hanson is a professional and very thorough but also knows how to make me and my daughter laugh. Very good experience every time.

What could have turned into a huge, complicated mess due to me having my eye exam done at DO and purchasing my frames and lenses at another eyeglass establishment and the prescription not feeling right on my eyes upon trying the glasses on, in fact was handled with great accommodation/excellent customer service at DO, who offered to recheck my eyes and replace the lenses themselves at no extra cost. I will continue giving DO my business, and in fact will be there next week to get new lenses in my Ray Ban sunglasses! Thanks, Direct Optical!

I went to direct optical to begin with because they had the cheapest fee for contact fitting i could find. When I arrived the staff was very friendly and helpful. The optometrist was also very accommodating and gave me two samples for contacts and worked with my budget. One of the workers that helped me, Debbie LaCivita was particularly helpful and even ordered me a pair of designer frames that they did not carry. The owner even came out of the back to assist with the process. Overall I will do the rest of my optical shopping with direct optical. Jason Smith

I went to Direct Optical for the first time and was greatly impressed. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgable. Susan was great, she helped me out of my comfort zone, while respecting my choices and not being pushy, and helped me pick out a great pair of frames. Optometrist was also wonderful, personable and explained to me what he was doing. Highly recommend them and will be coming back for my annual exams.

i’m so conflicted about how to rate this place! i’ve gotten my glasses here the past two or three years and have always had a good experience. the eye doctors are super nice and the dark-haired lady at reception is so wonderful and sweet. today, i a blonde lady helped me with my pick-up and everything was great. they have a pretty big selection of under $ 130 glasses(what my insurance will cover), though you do have to move trays around to look through the cheap frames. really a five-star place in most respects. but the time i went to pick out a pair of glasses really put a sour taste in my mouth. i was«helped» by a lady who clearly hated her job. she was stand-offish and impatient. she asked for a spelling of my name literally three times in the span of five minutes, even though my papers were right in front of her.(incompetence is forgivable though; it was the rudeness that got me.) She tried to make me feel bad about not wanting to pay anything beyond what my insurance would cover(for a nicer lens), even going as far as to tell one of her co-workers(in front of me) about it in a mean-girl way. this all made me really sad because i have always genuinely had a great experience here, whether helping my brother pick out glasses or getting my own, or shopping with my mom. but i don’t think i’ll be back because i’d be scared of having to interact with this woman again because she made me so uncomfortable. i’m willing drive a little further to not live in fear, haha. i guess i’d say to anyone else that you should definitely come here, but just try to, ahem, avoid certain people. i’ll miss the really nice people here though.

Been going here for years… I think since I was in middle school…(minus one year when I lived out of state) and it is the best. The staff, the speed, the selection … highly recommend this place. They are trustworthy and a good business to support. The one year I lived out of state and went to a different eye doctor only went to show me how good I had it at Direct Optical!

The staff and servie here is great from top to bottom! From the moment I walked in the door to when I left every single employee I interacted with or saw was smiling, pleasant, helpful and friendly! Dr. Cohen was wonderful too! He was very personable and talked to me throughout the eye exam. A very nice, friendly man. Good for those who hate going in for exams, have eye questions or hate the shot of air for the glaucoma test :-) Upon checking out I had a very helpful employee look over some pairs of glasses with me to get a idea of what I’d like to get, what the different options and prices were and put a note in my file as to what my favorite frame was so far in the search. Overall a great experience. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Good selection. Ok service. Ok exam(the guy kept pushing additional services not covered by insurance). However, because their volume of customers is high, they seem less personable than in years’ past. The rep was a bit pushy… wanting me to select frames I just wasn’t comfortable with. My impression was that she«had other fish to fry». Whatever. And, my inexpensive pair of replacement glasses quickly turned into an ala carte financial burden.

I recently had eye surgery, and had to wear glasses while I healed. Of course, my eyeglasses are outdated, and so is the script. I came to Unilocal to find a good place to go besides Costco where I get my contacts. Direct Optical was the first to appear. I have driven past DO many times over the years and never thought much of it. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to great service, prices and selection! Let’s start off with the phone call. I called to see if they would accept my script from Costco, and I was told yes. The problem was the tone. She has such an attitude and clearly couldn’t wait to get off the phone. I let it go, thinking maybe they were busy. No big deal. I walked in, and it seemed a little disorganized. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and asked how she could help me. When I told her I was there for glasses, she handed me over to Samantha. Samantha was very sweet & patient with me. She brought me several different types of frames. Of course, she brought over Gucci, Prada, Dior to name a few. That’s okay, because I happen to like what she brought over. I finally picked a pair of Gucci glasses. I’m not really big on the Gucci logo on the side because I don’t like advertising the brand I’m wearing, but whatever. I liked the glasses enough to get beyond that. I was told I came on the perfect day because they were having a SALE! Half off of all frames. So, instead of paying an arm & a leg, I only had to pay an arm. I was also told that because I drove over 10 miles to get there, I’d save another $ 10, which she forgot to give me. She fixed it though. Glad she was honest because I probably wouldn’t have realized it. Samantha told me it would take 8 days to get my glasses because I got the bells & whistles for the lenses. I’m rough, so I need good, sturdy stuff. I left a pretty satisfied customer. Then I got a call. She forgot to measure my PD, or something like that. I was not able to go back that day. So, I had to go back first thing in the morning. Samantha said she’d be there at 9am when they opened, but when I arrived, they said she wasn’t coming in until 10am. No biggie… they took care of it. The young lady who helped me called me later that day to tell me the glasses would be ready in 4 days. Hmmmm… not sure why it’s 4 instead of 8, but I’m not complaining. So, my experience was just OK. It was a little inconvenient & disorganized. The woman on the phone both times I called was rude. They do have a huge selection of frames. I don’t know how great their prices are because I don’t have anything to compare them to. I can say, that this is the most I have ever spent on glasses in my life. I better get a lot of compliments on these glasses & hope no one notices I’m missing an arm!

I really do hate that blast of air for glaucoma. You know it’s coming and you try not to blink… ahhhh…I hate that. It’s been two years since my last eye exam. Old dirty contact lenses. Old out of style glasses. Time to see and look better(well it’s going to take more than glasses). Make sure they know ahead of time that you have or don’t have insurance. Makes a little bit of difference. This place has to be the friendliest and most warming eye store I have ever been into. From the very first call I made to make the appointment to the door closing behind me. The next best thing are the hours. I didn’t have to miss a day of work just for an eye exam. The latest they take an an exam is at 7:00. They close at 8:00 most days except Friday. The doctor who did my exam was fantastic. We talked about 20 minutes about an assortment of things. kids, spouses, jobs, schools, life. Then he did his thorough exam. Contacts were easy to choose. They had my prescription in inventory. They gave me a pair to try. I also purchased a six month supply. Very reasonably priced. If you don’t like the sample bring back the six month supply and they’ll fit you with another lens and exchange the original supply with the new scrip. Now onto the frames. Great selection of all the latest designs. Way too many choices for my liking. Nice selection of sunglasses too. Of course I had one of the women helping me. Be honest, «No, I don’t like that one». Eewww makes me look chubby… OK, so here I am at 7:55…closing in 5 minutes… time to choose a frame… narrowed down to five pair… now, three, now, two… All seven of the women eyeglass specialists are in front of me helping me choose… I just couldn’t believe how friendly they still were five minutes before closing. They really do care about their customers. Now I know why this place is doing so well.

When your sexy specs aren’t so sexy anymore, head to Direct Optical to update them! The service is always fast and friendly, and I think you can get your glasses or contacts the same day. They always have the best selection of frames and their prices are very reasonable for the top of the line designer brands. Every time I come here I end up finding a perfect pair of frames that I just can’t live without… If you’re gonna wear glasses they BETTER be sexy!

I’ve watched Direct Optical grow into a fantastic eye wear store over the last 8 years; the growth was to be expected because it truly is a great store. The store is a full service optical and frame store. They provide eye exams and they also bill insurance companies for your exam and glasses or contacts. They have a wide variety of eye wear to choose from. Classic to trendy, day or evening. I love the sun-glass selection as well. They carry all the high end names and they are a discount store so you’ll always pay less than you would from a department store or chain store. The store is spotless and the service is awesome!
