Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fairmont

Great to have a new option in Fairmont when returning for FSC/​FSU Homecoming weekend. Beautiful hotel and extremely accommodating and courteous staff, especially Mary at the front desk!

This is a wonderful hotel! Very warming and comfortable. Brianna is very helpful and knowledgeable! They serve soup and cookies in the lobby everyday. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Five stars, ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

Brand new hotel in South Fairmont, WVa. Just off I-​79 this sits tucked back behind a strip mall, next to quite a few restaurants which are within walking distance. Room we stayed in was a 2 bed room with shower.
Wifi is free, as is breakfast — but don’t expect a lot. Yes, there are hot waffles precooked egg patties and sausage, toast, biscuits, microwavable breakfast sandwiches, and cereal. Coffee and juice as well are available. But don’t expect it to be much more in quality than the local McDoanld’s serves.
Room was clean and comfortable, but sounds from the hallway came through the door, and the ceiling from the room above. We were tired, so we were asleep regardless. Noise and the appointments were average, so minus a star for that… it is not posh… it is a better than average room though. HDTV was kinda small, maybe 32″ in size. But did have cable and came with the room.
Parking was easy, and there is an elevator to the upper floors. No pool. No exercise room that I could see. Vending machines are in the lobby/​breakfast area.
Pricing was a bit higher than the average, so minus a star for that too… I’d offer half a star back, but the breakfast was so «iffy» in prepackaged food quality, I just have to think they could do better and earn that fourth star back that way. (Hint: Keep the waffles, biscuits, toast, keep the yogurt, ditch the pre-​packaged oatmeal, packaged muffins. Add more fruit variety… see if people really like those eggs or not… and uhm… the sausage gravy, ditch the plastic bag pot liner and at the least, get a chaffing dish or something else.)
Rethought this review, and gave them an extra star out of generosity. But in truth, it’s three and a half.
Good staff, who definitely earned their star. Everyone was pleasant and smiling. Things were promptly dealt with, and few issues occurred that I saw. Also staff were kinda learning things too, from the looks of it. But, I think they will do well.
