I like EMS in general but did not have a good experience with this store nor with their customer service 1 – 800. Purchased a «new» item that I learned after opening had been used and returned prior. Packaging missing, product soiled, and instructions from a different product inside the box. Neither the store nor 1 – 800 would own and fix the problem. The in-store staff also lacked very basic knowledge on the products they were selling. There are far better places to buy outdoor gear where the staff is knowledgeable about their products and they care about their customers’ satisfaction.

Love EMS/Eastern Mountain Sports and love their customer service. I have a one year old winter jacket that ripped and they gave me full credit to upgrade to a stronger more durable jacket. Some of the prices are high, but here you truly get what you pay for! The Fairfield CT location has very knowledgeable employees and the store is conveniently located parking is easy, plenty of parking spots too!

EMS in Fairfield is great. There was a part missing from an item I bought from their store and I don’t live in area. When I went home I noticed the part was missing and went to my local EMS who refused to help and laid the responsibility on the Fairfield store. I called the Fairfield store and they explained that I shouldn’t have been turned away from my local EMS and should have been helped. They were able to order the part for me and will be shipping it for free. The sales associate(Adam) was cordial and knowledgeable. I guess its rare to receive great customer service and I wanted to be sure they got some credit. Check them out– awesome store.

EMS is always a fun place to shop even if you’re not too, too outdoorsy. However, it is overpriced.

REI but not as impersonal for the staff have the time to take you through the gear needed for a trek, local hike and chat about outdoor«toys» they sell too too. I’m a fan here for sure as it’s hard to come by locations that are outdoor oriented in the Northeast that also stock good quality gear for all endeavors.

Way over priced for everything. They don’t answer their phones around the holidays. They confirm my belief in buying gift cards and lets the recipients buy things at a discount after Christmas when they are cheaper. They service bikes there, which is nice, but also too over priced.

This place makes me want to be an outdoor enthusiast. The staff is so helpful. They are also not pushy about making a sale. They want to educate the consumer about the sport the clothing the equipment. Although somewhat pricey you can’t beat it’s sales. If you go at the end of season you will get amazing deals. Also always check the clearance shoe dept if you have really big or small feet you will walk out with a sweet deal! I bought ugg boots for under 60!
