I eat this place about once every couple months. It used to taste great but now it’s good but not as good as before. Still good though. I eat it less now bc it’s pretty pricey in my opinion. I would give 5 stars if Cheaper but it’s just too pricey for pretty good(not great) tasting food.

Good stuff. I’ve been here a few times in the past when I lived in Fairfax. I wouldn’t say these kabobs are the best out there but still quite tasty. Service is friendly enough. Plastic silverware, cups, plates, napkins, drinks are all within reach. I appreciate that they offer complimentary Afghani tea. There is usually a pot of it sitting on the counter beside the soda machine, help yourself. They also make their own chili sauce, which is delicious. It adds a nice kick to your meal. All kabob combos come with fresh Afghan bread, salad, and a side(ie. chick peas, potatoes, spinach, etc.). The kabobs are tasty and their portions are good. Don’t forget to get white and green sauce for your meal, goes great with the meats and rice. I wouldn’t travel from afar to eat here but if you’re in the area and in the mood for kabobs, it’s a nice place to visit.

I have driven by Flame Kabob on many occasions, it is in a good plaza. I ordered the Flame Combo II, Steak and Kubideh kabob. The steak was chargrilled beautiful, very tender. The kubideh had good flavor. The naan was as big as a deflated football, lol. The side of chickpeas could have been a bit bigger for my taste. The chickpeas were a little on the bland side but the green spicy yogurt made up for it in spades. The rice, was wonderfully mild in flavor and complimented the meat very well. I was told this location did not serve the Mantu(ground beef and onion filled dumplings), that was a tad disappointing. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Flame Kabob.

Yummy. Chicken kabob was so tender and juicy but the chunks were bit on the small side. It’s the quality not the quantity that counts. The rice was seasoned right and so light you can inhale it. The sides were delish too. Warm naan was huge. At the end of the meal I was stuffed. BTW It was hot in there so I wouldn’t recommend to eat there. It’s the huge hot open flame grill. I get that. Guess where I’ll be for dinner this winter.

The food here is amazing. But every time I come in during the summer months there is no a/c. When it’s 90+ degrees outside people expect to cool off when they walk into a restaurant. It’s getting old, and I can park in front of 5 or 6 other restaurants in this shipping center, including a new Lebanese place that has a/c.

I really love this Kabob spot. Some people like the kabob that comes on a skewer with veggies in between the meat. Not I. I loveeeee the way they do it here. You just get chunks of meat on a bed of rice with a side and a giant piece of naan bread and a great cucumber-ish sauce.(they do have veggie only kabob too for people who go against how we were created and don’t eat meat). If you like meat, you will love this place. All the meat choices are good, from the steak to the chicken to even the swordfish it is all exceptional. They have a $ 7 special where you get 4 pieces of meat instead of the traditional 8 which is a good deal(comes with same rice and side), but I find myself needing more meat, so I typically end up spending $ 12-$ 14. They have another item or 2(I had the gyro, it was so-so) but if you are going to go here you should get the kabob. The one thing you need to know is that Kabob takes longer than traditional items to cook, so I recommend you call ahead. When the place gets really crowded(not a lot) it can take up to 30 minutes to get food, so if you see a big crowd there you should either call in, be willing to walk around the shopping center, or just skip it til the next time. Sides include chic-peas, corn and spinach. I always get the spinach. The meals also come with a little bit of salad and are on a bed of sort of spicy rice. Overall a good pace, a great value for a lunch/all day special and a meat lovers place to be.

I love the food here, and the lunch special is a great deal for really good Afghan food. I recommend the lamb and chicken. The bread is pretty good too.

I hope owner sees this and act on these comments or I will never eat at this place and I’m sure others probably will do the same. Rice not cooked. Doesn’t look or taste like Afghan basmati. Chickpeas cold like it just came out of the refrigerator, obviously they just opened a can and put it out. Spinach might as well be called spinach soup since it was soggy and full of water. Now the lamb kabob was what made us sick. You can not taste the meet with all the nasty spices covering it.

I tried this place cuz I thought it was family owned and that the taste would be consistent. However, it fell short as apparently, this is a chain and has a different from the one in Springfield. Anyway, so i got the beef and ground beef combo. Flavor was ok, it was quite tasty, but the beef was hard and chewy — nothing special… I’d drive to crystal city only if it wasn’t too far from where I live. Anyway, I guess I’ll give it another try and see if it’s any different. Then maybe I’ll give a more positive review, hopefully.

I used to come here for lunch years ago. While visiting the area after moving away 10yrs ago, I purposely stop by lunch and was not disappointed. So glad I did.

Can’t beat their $ 6 Special! A meat, rice, large piece of bread and a side. Their sauce is pretty good. First time we went there, service was meh… cashier did not seem like she wanted to be there, no smiles. Second time, the service was better.

First, they do not allow you to get hummus as a side with your meal. WTF?! Every other kabob place in the area has hummus as a side. It’s one of my favorite things about getting kabob — so right off the bat I was not happy with this place. Instead, I chose some strange potato mixture that looked like baby food and tasted strange. Took one bite and threw the rest out. YUCK! Next, the portions of rice and meat are about ½ of the amount you would get at other places. Nothing special about the meat, average at best. Sauces were unique(yogurt sauce was minty and green sauce was more of a spicy cucumber) but they literally fill up the super tiny sauce containers about halfway — it’s as if they are trying to save money in any way they can. Basically, there are a ton of better kabob places in the area. Don’t waste your money here!

Along route 50 few doors down from Starbucks is Flame Kabob. This convenient, fast, and friendly Afghan Kabob spot has been a favorite for years. What you will find is a casual spot for quick pickups and sometimes casual sit-downs. The rice is flavorful, full of aroma, thin and amazing. There are an assortment of beefs(steak and ground) charbroiled, chickens charbroiled to perfection, gyros, and a large assortment of sides including chickpeas, spinach, salad, yogurts. When you order, you will get a large portion of tasty tan rice, a side of your option meat, a side of salad, your choice of vegetarian side, and a small yogurt. My favorite is the green spiced yogurt sauce that I spill on my rice for added tanginess. I recommend Flame Kabob anytime, and it is a regular go to for me when I am hungry and in need of Middle Eastern goodness! BTW prices are amazing.

My lamb chops were delicious and inexpensively priced! The chickpeas and bread were also very good. The people behind the counter were very friendly. I’d easily come back here if I was in the area.

The food here is excellent! The service is pretty good, the people here are friendly. They have two sauces, one white and one green and they are delicious! The portion sizes are perfect and the food is on point! There is usually a «buy one dinner, get one free» coupon in the Clipper Magazine for them which is a great deal! There is also a location in Leesburg which I frequent. The service at the leesburg location really needs some help though!

After a Unilocal event at total wine and more I need some quick eats so my husband went on the Unilocal app and we ended up here. I got the lamb meal and my husband got a gyro. The gyro was small compared to others places in the nearby area. The meat was not flavorful and it tasted just okay per his words. The lamb meal came with a side salad, rice, chickpeas and meat. The lamb was okay but I have had better. The rice and chickpeas were good but nothing exceptional. I have had better food for the price and next time I will choose elsewhere. Also please remember that that you will purchase drinks separately. I did enjoy the fact they had soda on draft.

Used to go here every week as a kabob standby, near my old office. Very good chicken. Average chickpeas(mine are better at home). Good bread. For me, the best redeeming feature was I could walk to it, and they have a $ 6 lunch special. Decent atmosphere, but you have to listen to the TV blaring news.

I stopped in after seeing a few of my fellow Unilocalers check — in here. I can’t say that I will necessarily fight parking to dine here again. I ordered one of their combos and asked if I could sub my two sides for a salad. Nope. OK… then in walked someone else and he was allowed to do the same thing I had just requested to do. Interesting. I wanted to try both their lamb and chicken so I could get a good feel for the place. Compared to the local«holy grail» of Kabob spots aka Reston Kabob, their meat was on the tougher, dryer side. They had a unique seasoning blend but I can’t say it was my favorite. Not the best or the worst I’ve ever had. But definitely unique. The chickpeas were terrible; runny, chunky, and bland. So they were trashed lol. The yogurt sauce was very runny as other reviewers have said. It was spicy but not in a good way. If this works for you, go for it. But for now, I will continue to make the trekk and deal with the wait over at Reston Kabobs for my kabob fix.

Awhile ago, a friend ordered take out from this Flame Kabob location(they have a Springfield location too). They accept credit cards, and you can eat in their restaurant if you like. They’re open every day of the week. Flame Kabob states they serve«authentic Afghan cuisine» — their cooking tasted like Afghan cuisine to me, and everything was delicious and flavorful. We had their amusingly-shaped, tender kabobs(for those who are interested, they use Halal meat), their kabob salad, and a variety of appetizers. Their prices are extremely reasonable, making the food taste that much better. If you’re in the area, give them a try!
