Smug’s Pizza

Eureka!!! This pizza was superb! It was a perfect pizza stop as we headed up the coast. We ordered a sausage, chicken, pinapple and artichoke heart whole pizza. The sauce was perfect and it was perfectly seasoned. The crust was substantial with not too much dough. It was just a great pizza.

It’s always tough to find a place that sells pizza by the slice. Smug’s is your best option in old town eureka, and the food is delicious.
The prices are reasonable, but the thing I really like is how hygienic the staff is. They wash their hands right in front of you after dealing with cash.
It’s really good pizza. I recommend it.

The pizza dough is soft, full of flavor, and not too oily. The regular pizza sauce is awesome as well.
The 2 piece lunch special with a soda and chips/​cookie is an awesome deal.
Some of the best pizza I’ve had in Humboldt!

Hot diggity damn. I love this place. They always have fresh slices of pizza on rotation. It’s a quick in and out place, don’t expect more from it. That’s how I prefer it though! Their jalapeño and pineapple pizza is the bomb dot com. They have a simple menu with soda, chips or cookies as a side. It makes choosing easier, doesn’t it? Their sauce is impeccable and so is that damn crust. I LOVE THEIR PIZZA CRUST. NOM NOM NOM. I wish I wasn’t lactose intolerant or I’d eat here more often.

Let me tell you that Smugs used to be the best place to go for pizza in Eureka California! They would spoil you crazy! You can get a pizza to go for only 15 bucks. You can get that pizza custom made in quarters. Well let me tell you, I went in to order my usual pizza: ½ Red sauce cheese, one-​quarter pesto cheese, one quarter red sauce pepperoni olives and onions. I was immediately informed that I could not have my pizza the way I usually get it. They would not mix two different sauces on a pizza. I tried to tell him I get it that way all the time, but he was adamant. The last few times we called in an order to go, and the pizza came with mixed sauces, but they missed putting the pepperoni on my quarter. I am so disappointed! Now if you just want an average pizza that’s cheap, go to smugs.

Small place, but great pizza. Would suggest getting either carry out or delivery since they only have one table. We got the Classic combo and it was really good. Will definitely visit again.

Very good service, awesome pizza, friendly staff. I like the simplicity of it all. The crust is amazing and i normally won’t eat pizza crust. I love that is like a sided crust pizza in the way that the sauce is spread to the edge and then rolled inwards. It’s a great deal for you’r money. I’m planning on stopping in for a few extra cheese pizzas in the very near future. Keep up the great work guys!

Awesome crust, tasty ingredients, and affordable prices! Can’t beat the meal deal of 2 slices, bag of chips or a cookie, and a can of soda for $ 6.00. (Note: 1 slice is $ 3 and 2 slices are $ 4.50.) The only negatives of this place are that there are only 4 seats and no restrooms.

My BF and our families stopped by in Eureka from camping for the 4^th of July fireworks. While waiting, we got really hungry and looked up on Unilocal something quick we could grab to eat. This place is what popped out to me!
Their was about a 10 minute line. It’s a really small shop so it was out the door. Only one table inside for siting. While waiting I noticed they kept restocking with fresh different topping pizzas. It’s a simple place with a simple menu. You can buy by the slice quick I really appreciate b/​c not many places do that anymore. They also have combo deals with chips and a drink. They only had to two types of chips which I thought was a downside. Thought they can add some variety.
I ordered a standard slice of pepperoni and it was really good. Really cheesy, good amount of pepperoni and tasty crust. It was simple and good and only $ 3. Definitely a good spot to stop at if you want a quick meal/​snack!

This is very Californian California pizza but it’s good Californian pizza better than other California pizza… California California pizza Bananas?

I love this itty-​bitty place because it does not pretend to be more than it is. Just a good slice of pie for a very reasonable price. Staff extremely accommodating, if they don’t have the pie you want, wait 10 minutes, they’ll make it for you. They now take Visa. Wish they were open till 7 to give us time to get there after work.

You guys missed it by closing at 6 pm… what are you a bank? We’ve checked out two other places and they were busy… at 6:30pm. No I don’t think we’ll even give you a chance. You’re more interested in your evening than mine.

I have to edit my existing review because the food is going downhill and its a major bummer because its been consistently delicious for YEARS. :(WHAT IS GOING ON SMUGS?! Please don’t be another eureka restaurant that turns for the worst! We got a pie last night and it just wasn’t we expect from Smugs. The toppings weren’t well dispersed (clumps here, gaps there) and it didn’t taste as fresh. Maybe the sauce recipe has changed too? We love you Smugs… come back to the light!

I LOVE smugs! It’s my favorite pizza place in Humboldt. The crust has some garlicy flavor to it that is phenomenal. Great pricing, great pizza.

Jem on Unilocal.Amazing pizza! My husband is is vegetarian and they had a couple choices for him. They are also taking debit cards now. Prices were great. Just wish we lived closer!

Literally the best pizza in town! So delicious and awesome toppings, I always get the artichoke olive etc. Really cheap too, when bought by the slice, and the employees are really friendly. But make sure you bring cash when you go. They don’t take cards or checks. Please go here, seriously

You can even ask them to make special slices provided you’ll be buying them all. And what’s more, it’s delicious! Hardly any sitting, but a little counter and some benches. I love that you can watch them make the pizza from the outside window.
This place is a winner!

Great service! I called after closing and the worker was kind enough to make a pizza for me anyway. Very tasty. I prefer New York style pizza so the crust was a bit on the thick and chewy side for me. Definitely better than any chains around.
