This place seems to be a quiet local joint. The building is old and probably comes with a lot of history. The service was nice and the food good. We ordered oyster shooters, baked Brie and a chef salad. The salad plates were chilled which was a very nice touch.

Nice atmosphere … not really on the waterfront though. Pricey menu. The clam chowder was good, but felt like the staff was disappointed that I didn’t order more.

We used to come here weekly, my sister and I, and I must say, it was a PLEASURE. We loved it. I love their beer battered halibut with garlic fries. I also MUST order an oyster shooter or two when I’m there! Sadly, they no longer have the Weichepec hot sauce available. I started making my own kumomoto oyster shooters at home, so I don’t go as much as I used to. It’s a great place for lunch, Id recommend. It’s also a great brunch spot on Sundays between 11 – 2.

This is a quaint little throw back to the good ol’ days of Eureka. Sitting on the water’s edge, Café Waterfront evokes an older feel in service, that’s a good thing. Lots of great seafood and wonderful breakfasts combined with good service and a great location(right next to a large public pier), you’d think I should be giving it a better rating. And if I had reviewed this place 10 years ago, I probably would have. But Eureka is suffering from a growing glut of homelessness. Lots of travelers, stragglers and pit bull blends on leashes(and not) make this once picturesque location slightly less inviting. It’s on the edge of old town Eureka, which is constantly under renovation, bringing back some wonderful historic buildings. I’ve been here a few times now, always enjoyed the restaurant, but have slowly begun to dislike the neighbourhood. Eureka is starting to suffer from the same ailment as downtown Portland, OR and Bellingham, WA, a larger influx of transients than the city knows what to do with. That never seems to end well. But this is a review of Café Waterfront, not of how our country treats the homeless. So let me end by highly recommending this restaurant, just tread lightly on your way in and out of it.

Very good service and the owner was a real cool guy. The place had a nice atmosphere. Ordered off the dinner specials menu and was satisfied with the meal. Will recommend to anyone passing through Eureka.

After bad experiences at local restaurants, we had a wonderful time at Café Waterfront. The food was great(don’t miss the mussels, clams, and oysters), the service was fine, and the décor was fascinating along with the view. I’d go back in a hot New York minute!!!

Stale, reheated fries and the waitress seemed like she’d never seen a non-white person before. She spoke to me slowly and enunciated every syllable, even though I spoke perfect English back at her. I know Humboldt is mostly white folks but this was really silly.

Went here with my wife and mom at 7:30 on a Sunday. The restaurant was mostly empty, with a few tables of patrons. The best part was the food– each of us loved our plates of grilled fish or steak, with perfectly cooked veggies. The worst part was that partway through our rapidly paced meal the restaurant closed and they started blaring Wham and Cher and cleaning up loudly. I get that people need to get their work done, but does it need to be to the complete disregard of their remaining patrons who are having $ 35 meals? Our server made a few jokes about the music and noise, but it really ruined the experience. It bums me out that we spent so much money at an establishment that couldn’t wait to get us out of there.

Nice ambience, good service. always a wonderful menu. Excellent specialties especially Sunday brunch! Crab meat and eggs benedict to die for! Awesome hollandaise sauce made in-house. We eat here often; it’s always a great dining experience.

Great food that makes up for the slightly slow service. Outstanding local oysters, fish, salad. Maybe the finest restaurant in Eureka.

Don’t bother. I ordered clam chowder, they served it to me in a cracked bowl. Do you know what kind of bacteria is in that crack? Also I got a salad, the lettuce pieces were brown, when I pointed it out to the server her response was that they must have left the lettuce out… WTF? The place also seemed dirty and dated to me. I’m sure there are plenty of other places to get overpriced food in Eureka.

Not just a bar. The food was great. I had scallops. 15 pieces! The salad was cold and crisp, the rice was cooked perfect and the veges were crunchy. All in all I was very surprised. After all of that, the waitresses were professional and very nice. Could not have expected anything better. I’d give the place a 5+. Will come back again…

OK it is listed as $$$, but it is worth it! The food is outstanding and delicious, with very large portions… you will not walk away hungry! There were 4 of us: 2 has halibut which was the best, 1 had the fried mixed seafood plate, very generous portions and 1 person had NY steak with Gorgonzola cheese. WOW!!! Great meal! The service staff was very attentive. The owner/manager is on top of everything to be sure your dining experience is a good one. So spend a little more and have a great dining experience!

Amazing clam chowder. And oyster shooters were exactly what I needed. I’ve been complaining about getting chowder all day and this really hit the spot!

Fast service, with a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. From a bar to a cozy tables for couples. Great place to end your day at Eureka with some great seafood. I had the grilled red snapper(slightly breaded and fried, go figure. lol) and a delicious bisque spicy shrimp soup. Get there an hour before they close or your food options will be very limited.

Living at the beach on the east coast, we’ve gotten used to fresh seafood. The wife and I were visiting Eureka and realized how long it had been since we had eaten fresh seafood. We chose Café Waterfront to satisfy that longing. We were not disappointed. We both ordered the grilled halibut which was served on a bed of sautéed spinach. It came with a chicpea and bean salad. We had the blueberry vinaigrette for our salad dressing. It was all extremely delicious. Our service was great and we were seated immediately. My only complaint would be the coconut rum and coke… Small glass and full of ice, yet it was well mixed and was good… I would consider it a 4 dollar drink instead of a 6 dollar drink. Our visit here was still fabulous and we would definitely eat here again.

Cute little place in downtown Eureka! I went here during Mother’s Day and got a free mimosa(even though I’m not a mother teehee). My boyfriend and I got the blueberry pancakes combo. It was pretty good, you can never go wrong with pancakes. Live music, rustic atmosphere, love it! Not sure if I’d come back again though.

Leckeres Essen, guter Service, nettes Personal. Anschliessend sollte man sich noch als Nachtisch ein Eis am Hafen gönnen.
