This is a really good«hole in the wall» restaurant. Their 7oz burger is so juicy and tasted delicious. Defiantly coming back to try their breakfast.

The food is delicious. The owner came and introduced herself to us and we had a great 10 minute chat. They played wonderful music from their old school juke box. The vibe and feeling in here was nothing less than awesome. Even the other patrons where also fun to be around

Service was great, place was clean but that is about all. The food was good but not great. I think I may be judging a little hard because I did not get my cinnamon roll that I saw on Unilocal

I came here once for breakfast And it was pretty good. Portions are big enough to share which is what I did. We ordered 2 pancakes which were huge, next time I would order 1 to share instead. Then we had a combo that we split up. I don’t remember what it was called but it came with eggs, hashbrowns, bisquits & gravy. The service was also very good here.

Nice mom and pop corner diner. Food is good but it’s a little small so you can hear everyone conversing. I like supporting small business so overall good experience.

Came here for breakfast after another horrifying experience at Swamis and as always the service is beyond great! My husband and I were seated and had our orders placed within 5 minutes of getting there! Our server had our coffee on the table within minutes of ordering! This is how a restaurant should be! I ordered the delicious French toast! And have had almost everything off their breakfast menu with no disappointments yet! Their shakes are so good I always have the Oreo one for breakfast. This place never disappoints with their amazing customer service and delicious food! We love supporting local ma and pop shops like Suzy Qs! We absolutely love coming here!

This place is awesome. The service and food are so good that they make you want to come back as often as possible! They have specials every single time we come and they’re food is so fresh, it comes from the local farmers market. Their cinnamon rolls are baked fresh and gigantic! You can have one while you wait for your order! Everyone is friendly and Suzy is super sweet. She’s made her way from the kitchen over to our table many times and asked how the food was. I love the décor and the order names are too cool! You have an order called the Marilyn, one called the Audrey Hepburn, and even one called the Tom and Jerry! Love it! There’s plenty of parking behind the restaurant and along the streets on 2nd/Juniper. They usually close early but with Cruisin Grand on Fridays, they’re open late that day. I didn’t grow up in Escondido but this place makes me feel like it’s home.

For lunch we stopped by Suzy Q’s. This place was still very busy for lunch but we were able to snag a booth. Our waiter Nick talked to us and went over the menu including his favorites. We chose a variety of options including a Reuben, Breakfast Burrito, John Wayne Burger, Mickey Mouse pancake, and kid mac-n-cheese. The Breakfast burrito and the Kid Pancake were the best. Followed by John Wayne burger. I didn’t like my Reuben so much. It had way too much sauerkraut and sauce. Suzy Q offers up a good diner experience in the heart of Escondido. Why not give it a try? Noteworthy — Their home made slaw. Perfect balance between sweet and tang. They include raisins in their version — Their signature Fruit Cup. — Service is very friendly(Nick)

Good place to eat while in Escondido or just passing through. The service was terrific, greeting me at the door, finding a counter seat immediately, hot coffee quickly and the waitress taking my order. Cute menu with names like«Patsy Cline» and my breakfast pick, «Jailhouse Rock». Intimate, seating at tables or counter. In good weather there are tables outside. The food was delivered promptly even with a full house on Sunday. And the food was very good. Highly recommended.

Very good burgers, thick patties! Fun and clean place to sit down and have lunch. Very friendly. During the months of April & August you should call before coming down on Fridays. City has«Crusing Nights» on Fridays so Diner may close early.

Best French Toast! Get the FRENCHBOPPER $ 7.29 — I’m not a french toast person, but this was amazing! Came with thick slices of perfectly caramelized french toast. I like that it has a bit of crunch to it. It’s sooo good! Their omelets were pretty good too. We had«WAKEUPLITTLESUZY» $ 9.29, a veggie omelet with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and peppers. It was perfectly cooked. Enjoyed it a lot! My friend took me to Suzy Q’s on a Sunday morning for breakfast. She absolutely loves this place. We were greeted right away as soon as we came in. It’s kind’a small. Had some tables in the middle, bar area, booths on the side and some seating outside. Loved the old school 60’s diner décor with jukebox playing music. Service was great. Nick was awesome and took care of us. Only complaint was the long wait for our food to come, but our server did let us know that it would take a while so we appreciated that. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

My husband and I came in for a weekday brunch based off the Unilocal reviews and pictures. I love finding new places to try corned beef hash because I love me some good corned beef hash! Parking was a piece of cake. We parked in the back lot behind the building and walked. We were greeted with smiles and got to choose any table to sit at. I loved all the cute décor in the restaurant and even though the restaurant itself is kind of small, it felt like home. I ordered the Patsy Cline with gluten free bread($ 1.00 extra) and my husband ordered the Bobby Sox cheeseburger with fries. My toast came out first, already buttered, and there were packets of jelly on the table. My toast was perfectly toasted and didn’t scrape the roof of my mouth. They were 2 big pieces of real tasting bread which made me happy because usually GF toast is really small and chewy. Our meals came out a couple minutes later and they were huge! My food almost fell off the plate! You get what you pay for! My husband’s burger was big and full of meat but he wished he got no mayo because there was too much. His fries were nice and crispy. My corned beef hash was deeelish! I like it when the corned beef has a little bit of a crispy edge to it. My eggs were cooked just right and the hashbrowns were crispy as well. Great job Suzy Q’s! Can’t wait to come back soon!

This place was ok, my husbands omelette was good, everything else we had was not that special. The environment was very very loud, lots of kids! The service was pretty slow, but they were all super friendly!

I like to support local breakfast places, but good ones aren’t easy to find. Either they aren’t that good, or too expensive, or so small that you can’t get a seat. This place is a little bit of all 3. We decided to try Suzie Q’s, having seen several locals checking in recently. I have fond memories of the breakfast restaurant that my parents’ friends owned when I was a kid. We had tons of awesome breakfasts there over the years, and I was bummed when they retired and closed the place. The décor at Suzie’s is cute, very 50s diner chic. It isn’t super huge, so you might have to wait a little bit. We got lucky to get a table, as it filled up some more after we sat down. Our server Nicholas was great, and super enthusiastic. We ordered specials: the strawberry pancakes, and the California Benedict. The strawberry pancakes were just regular pancakes with a few cut-up strawberries on top. The pancakes were good, really thick and chewy. But not really worth $ 8.99. The Cali Benedict was interesting. Chicken, bacon, avocado, and tomato on English muffins with a poached egg and hollandaise, and radish sprouts on top. Not my favorite as Benedicts go. I make awesome Benedict at home, so it’s gotta be great to wow me. They also have a strange rule: so substitutions or subtractions on the specials. I asked for no tomato on my Benedict, but our server said that they have a policy against leaving things off. They get so crankin I guess, that they can’t slow down to leave something off??? I decided to pick it off myself, not easy to do with all the sauce. Nicholas offered to do it for me. Thanks, but no thanks. We will probably come some other time to try lunch, and give them another chance.

Came here because — 1) it’s close to home &2) I wanted to treat my hard working mother to breakfast. We came in and was told to sit wherever we please(because it was semi-busy). The interior was very«dive in», according to my Momma. Sort of like a Ruby’s Diner — but on the more affordable side. Our lady waiter was really sweet, seemed like she was the only one taking orders with over 6+ groups in here — but she still had a smile on her face! So she gets an A+. My mother got the chicken fried steak w a side of hash-browns, two scrambled eggs, and a side of small stacked pancakes — she said, «I like it. It’s juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside… the serving is huge! The pancakes are so fluffy and soft!» My cup of fruit consisted of apples, watermelon, mango, blueberries, pears, & honeydew… delicious for this health nut!(But doesn’t mean I didn’t steal a couple bites of her hash-browns and pancakes, lol. I still love my carbs!) The only«oops» on this breaky trip was that my mom’s coffee cup had a lipstick mark on it, kinda gross so she gave us a new cup.

Breakfast served all day. Lunch Served at 1030am. We decided to sit outside since it was such a nice day coming here after church. The menu isn’t too overwhelming and have a nice variety of choices. Food: Suzy Q: eggs, hashbrown, biscuits and gravy, and added bacon. And a side of 2 pancakes(all shared with my fiancé’) –hashbrowns are nice and cripsy. –the biscuits and gravy are a must try. savory gravy with a nice soft fluffy biscuit. –the pancakes had a nice chewy texture but yet soft and light. Service was amazing, especially being accommodated outside. Waters were always filled. Regular check-ups. Parking can be a hassle if you don’t find on the street. Other than tha, it is a small quaint diner with delicious breakfast and friendly fast service. A nice gem in Escondido. Will stop by next time to try out their lunch entrees.

My favorite breakfast items are probably doused with either hollandaise sauce or country gravy. I don’t know why. I just, like, really love sauces on almost anything. I’m a creature of habit so finding new breakfast locations to try out has been difficult for some reason. So I was curious when I heard about Suzy Q’s Diner in Escondido as the restaurant offers homemade hollandaise and country gravy on their menu. There’s a public parking lot close to the restaurant so we had no problem finding a spot that Saturday. The restaurant was a bit busy inside that morning so they offered us a table outside. We ordered: EDDIE’S GREASER $ 11.79: — My order of this chicken fried steak came with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, extra crispy hash browns. The eggs were prepared an amazing lightly scrambled(as requested). Best eggs I’ve had in a very long time. The fried steak was a nice cut and the breading was thick & crunchy. The gravy was plentiful and had specks of sausage in it. Our waitress, who happened to also be the owner’s daughter!, said they do add hollandaise to their gravy. I would have liked the gravy to be more savory and seasoned that morning. but that’s me. CHICKENCLUBBENEDICT $ 12.99: — This was the special of the morning which friend wisely ordered as this was one BREATHTAKINGLY beautiful benedict. We honestly forgot we were at a diner. The vibrant edible microgreens rested gently on the hollandaise covered poached eggs. The poached eggs were prepared just right as you can see from the sunny yolk dribbling down the chicken breast, avocado, bacon, and tomato that were also in this benedict. Friend enjoyed this benedict and it was the first time we had ever seen it offered Cali Club style. BISCUIT&GRAVY +1.99: — Friend really wanted to try their biscuit and gravy so he asked if he could upgrade the toast to biscuit instead. Our smiling server nodded that she could do so for $ 1.99 or so. It was such a great deal as the biscuit comes smothered in the gravy. Service was pleasant and coffee mugs were refilled as needed. Another server would also re fill patrons waters and coffee so it was a homey type of atmosphere that I enjoyed. The daughter said her mom works often and was there that day making the items being served. The biscuits were even baked fresh that morning. They have other items on the menu I’d like to try again so I can see us returning soon in the near future.

Came here for breakfast. I was hesitant because I remember this place when it was Metro Diner, and that was not a good experience. I was feeling adventurous so decided to come in. It was great to see they kept all the retro 50s décor, and it was great to hear that it didnt only change name but also owner. We noticed how friendly the gal working there was. We sat outside and immediately came up and started chatting about our dog. Yes we sat outside with our dog. Very friendly gal, she even brought out a bowl with water. For the dog of course. Found out her name was Suzy, the owner. The restaurant itself is ALOT nicer now. The menus had some funny names, at a point it was a little over the top. With items named Ricky Ricardo and Jailhouse Rock, you had to do some reading in order to know what that menu item was. The décor is very solid. With the red bar and the cool jukebox. It definitely felt 50s. So 50s I had to have a milkshake. It was great btw, vanilla with caramel. When she initially brought out our plates she brought them out quite wierd. Bringing my pancakes first and then other stuff. When I asked her for syrup she said«yeah I know, I only have 2 hands» that was a really dumb statement in my opinion. Who brings pancakes out without syrup. Not only that but after I asked her she came out a third time carrying a small plate of toast on each hand. Lol. Well whatever, I shrugged it off. We had a breakfast plate that included eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, toast. We also had the fried chicken steak that came with hashbrowns and toast, also ordered a side of pancakes. Everything was great really. The tapatio that was on the table tasted spoiled, maybe because it was in the sun for awhile so when my wife put it on her hash browns this ruined them, we told our server and she got some new ones for us. All in all this really is an awesome place to get breakfast at. Can’t say anything about lunch yet tho.
