I dined at Black Angus last night. It was my first time at this new location. The food was great! My wife and I had the combo for 2. Wagon Wheel appetizer was very good! Wedge salads were great! Wife had a filet medium rare– closer to rare like she likes it. I had a New York steak medium rare and it was done to perfection for me. The flourless chocolate cake was excellent! We were going for a leisurely dinner and. We got what we expected. It could have been a hair faster but we enjoyed all.

This was the WORST dining experience I’ve had in a VERY long time. From beginning to end it was a disappointment. Let me start by saying we are a family of 3. Almost 7 months ago we had our rehearsal dinner at the Mission Valley location and everything was PERFECT. Today, My husband, daughter, and myself decided to go for lunch thinking it should be a good meal and not extremely crowded. Well, part of that assumption was right. There were only a few other families in there, that should’ve been our first red flag. The waitress came over(I believe her name was Kelli) and took our drink order. I wish I knew her name for sure, but we only saw her once or twice more. We asked for Pepsi and got Diet. Not a big deal, we can deal with it. Lets move on to our order. I ordered the New York Strip Steak on the lunch menu that was supposed to come with 2 classic sides and 2 freshly baked cookies. I asked for it to be done«well» and it was burnt. I asked for a garden salad and loaded baked potato as my sides and those were both pretty good. I would comment on the cookies, but I never received them. For my 2.5 yr old we ordered the chicken strips, fries, and apple juice. Those were extremely delicious, but again advertised with all childrens meals is a scoop of ice cream(with hot fudge and sprinkles) and she did not receive it. Anyone with a young child knows the outcome of promising a child a dessert and them not receiving it. My husband ordered some type of sandwich that was okay, nothing necessarily wrong with his meal. I’m not sure if Black Angus is just having a dessert shortage, or the waitress simply forgot, but we are less than thrilled we paid for items that were«included» and not received. Its really not about the dessert, but rather the principle of everything. This location shouldve been an Outback… regardless we will no longer be coming to this location. We will drive to Mission Valley if we feel the need, which I doubt we will.

The short of it: Probably my worst meal in the USA since moving here 4 years ago. I got the fresh lemonade. Tasted nothing like lemonade, couldn’t pinpoint it. Just some watered down fruit something. Was green at least. Order took forever to arrive after others who arrived after us. Ordered a filet mignon, baked potato and coleslaw. All bad. Filet was cooked medium as asked but tougher than eating an old shoe. Not sure it was actually a filet… Baked potato looked good on first glance but was entirely cold. Coleslaw was dry, just cabbage. Wife’s was the same. Different steak but not edible. Baked potato cold. We complained, they didn’t charge for both meals. We didn’t want a replacement, at that point the damage was done and we’re British. Stiff upper lip and all that. Kids were happy though. The chicken tenders were actually great. Mashed potato looked a little sketchy.

We waited over an hour to receive our food with the waitress stopping by once to refill our drinks. When we received our food it was very underwhelming. The sweet potato fries were not seasoned, the chicken barely flavored, chicken strips had no flavoring at all and they left out ingredients in our salad. Waitress wasn’t really friendly and the food was overpriced for the flavor and wait. They also tried to give us someone else’s food. We will not be going there again.

The service staff was excellent. Our waiter and manager were friendly and prompt. The overall quality of the meat was poor and it was cooked to death. The lamb was tough, burger dry, and steaks very fatty.

While this place is new, it seems to have fallen short in the food and service areas. My wife and I and another couple went this past Friday to get a late lunch. She had shrimp and asked for light seasoning and dressing on the side for her lettuce wedge. I had the lamb chops, well done. The other couple ordered. I started with a beer. Asked for a good Amber on tap. She brought me a lager. My lamb came and it was med. raw. I sent it back and it too so long I ended up taking it home. My wife’s salad came with the dressing on the wedge. Our waitress was no where to be found so she worked around the river of dressing. She shrimp came. She at one. It was so over-seasoned she could not eat the rest. The other couples steaks were tough and without flavor. The manager did stop by, said he was sorry for the problems. He comped us my beer. Shortly after this location opened, I pointed out to one of the managers how the caulking around the mans sinks had not been properly trimmed and made the new sinks look cheap. It would take them less than 5 minutes to fix but it seems they could care less. This location has been put on our NOGO list.

We were excited to hear there was a new Black Angus not far from us(there used to be one in on Mira Mesa Blvd and another on Kearny Villa Road). However, the chain has obviously become very«corporate-oriented». This was the most mediocre meal I have paid for roughly $ 40 per person(there were four of us). There are many more places I would recommend with better value. The bread and salads were fine(we each had the wedge salad). But the corporate side of things became evident with the drinks — I tried ordering two different liquors, similar to a black Russian, and they came back and told me it would be $ 17(they had to treat it as two separate shots). So I asked for a black Russian, just substitute amaretto for the vodka — it has a name, but since it doesn’t come up in their«system», it was going to be the same price — $ 17 for two liquors. I finally ordered a black Russian, and it came in a very small glass. The waitress was apologetic and very patient, and had had this problem before. Obviously everything is measured carefully, and the bartenders don’t have the leeway to make something not on the Black Angus drink menu. With respect to wines, the prices were $ 1 to $ 2 more than they should be for the labels they had. Better off going to happy hour. Between the four of us, we had the ribs, prime rib, a rib eye steak, and salmon. The ribs was the only plate that was ok. The prime rib was over-cooked with little flavor, but my mom wouldn’t send it back. The salmon and rib eye appeared ok, but each had the least flavor that any good piece of meat should have. Even the side dishes I had, green beans and mashed potatoes, had no flavor. Everyone agreed on their sides, other than the fully-loaded baked potato. One bright spot was the key lime pie — both my mom and wife said it was one of the best they’d ever had.

It’s so weird that this is a newly built Black Angus. Brings me back to my childhood when Black Angus was considered a «fancy steakhouse». Well, it’s no longer fancy and service is horrible. Hostesses were great, they directed us to the bar or patio to order off the Happy Hour Menu. That was the end. We sat on the patio with one other party. The waitress never even looked our way. We waited patiently but she never came back out. My friend eventually went inside and grabbed another waitress. This was good. She brought our drinks and took our order. Even asked if we wanted bread but never got it. Happy Hour menu had a good selection of drinks and appetizers. Food came out and it was all pretty good. By then the patio was filling up, so our waitress never came to check on us until we were done. Same goes for the«manager». We asked for the bill and then waited. Our waitress passed several times then finally delivered our check. My friend put her credit card in and the waitress took it and then we waited. We waited for so long that we went in to tell the«manager» that we hadn’t got the credit card back yet. She told us to take a seat in the waiting area and she would have the waitress bring it to us. She never did, so we walked back out to our table. The waitress came by and said, I left your card on the table. We said, nope… never got it. She walked inside and got it, apparently left it somewhere. She said sorry and that was it. Poorly handled all around. It’s a shame because the food was decent but the service left a bad taste in our mouths and we may never be back. If the«manager» doesn’t care, why should the waitresses?

I’m sorry but the ribeye steak was just burnt and bland tasting. The prawns weren’t prawns at all, they were a step up from cocktail shrimp. Nope won’t be coming back.

This place is way overpriced. I wouldn’t come here again or advise others to go here. I didn’t come here for the steak so I can’t tell you if that is worth it. When we first got here we were looking over the menu and the server was all hovering around our table for a while when we said we needed more time to look over menu. After we ordered, service was super slow and there wasn’t that many people. It took forever to get our food. When appetizers came we never saw the server until our main courses was ready which was a very long time… i had a question about the appetizers but i never had the chance to ask and also during that time they never picked up any of our plates when the appetizers were eaten until the actual food came out. I ended up getting the vegetarian cobb salad… It would be nice if this place had some more vegetarian entrée options. If they can make a gluten free menu, they can have a couple of other vegetarian entrée options like a garden burger or something. But other than that the salad was tasty just overpriced. They also brought the wrong desert for the others at my table, but I guess they didn’t care and they never said anything about it whereas I would of mentioned something. I also ordered the bread pudding for desert, it was good but the ice cream was a little bit freezer burnt.

I’m not a picky person, so I enjoyed this place for what it was. Still, I’m gonna try to be as objective as possible because there were problems. Pros: –Different types of butter options for steak –Large menu –Nice, dark atmosphere –Large portions –Awesome onion rings Cons: –Ordered the ribeye medium, it came out well done throughout most of it(though It still tasted good). –The au gratin potatoes were terrible. Potatoes were soggy, cheese was hard and crispy. It was obviously frozen and microwaved. –Service is a bit slow Overall, I’m glad I came, but like I said, I’m not picky. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Let me just say that the coupon offers are the 4th star. You definitely get more value when you are using a coupon. In fact, every single time we have eaten here, we have used a coupon of some kind. Outback’s coupons usually don’t get you much, so it’s more of a splurge. First off, service can be slow here. Even when not super packed, you may wait. So usually we try to be ahead of our server. We already know what we want to order for our entrée when she takes the drink order. Have the coupon already up on your phone, so they have the code. Tell them you want a refill on your drink when they bring your food. Get a box, and order dessert when you’re almost done with your entrée. Have your card ready when they bring dessert. All that can shave a ton of time off your visit! The food is good. Lobster tails, filet, baked potatoes, Mac n cheese, baked potato soup, the giant appetizer sampler. All things we’ve had at different visits. Steaks were always the way we ordered them, med rare. Our server even had us check it by cutting in to it, before she left the table. The bread is good, but why are these people serving margarine?! Is this the Depression, and dairy is rationed? You have melted butter for lobster tails, so get some regular stuff for the bread! Seriously, Mimi’s does this too, and it really pisses me off(but they have a hidden stash of the little gold bricks if you ask for them!) Don’t make me bring my own butter, like I’m OCD Jack Nicholson or something! I probably wouldn’t order a sandwich or other weird lunchy item here. Go with what they know best. Red Robin is at the opposite corner of the mall if you want that. And this is closer than going to Poway for Outback if you aren’t splurging. If you really want a crazy good steak, drive to Donovan’s in La Jolla(but check your 401K first, you’ll need it.)

I’m giving 3 stars because they are so hit and miss. We’ve been here several times previously, I ordered the filet mignon on those occasions and it was very good, good enough that we returned again this past weekend. Unfortunately, my meal was terrible this time. I decided to be a little more healthy and order the cobb salad with filet mignon on top. I am 99% sure that the meat they served me was NOT filet. It was full of fat and gristle, rubbery, chewy, just nasty all round. It looked like the little bits that you cut off of your steak and throw away at the end of your meal. I never complain at restaurants, but this was so bad that I would have sent it back if our server hadn’t been too busy to come back and check on us. I can still recommend the filet mignon, and they make a great bread pudding here for dessert, but that cobb salad was so gross that I felt like putting a warning out there.

Our son invited us for our 50th anniversary and we decided to sit in the bar area, only a few people at the bar and two booths where occupied. The server took our drink order, it took over 15 minutes to get the drinks. My martini glass was half full. Others that arrived after us got their food before us, they had male servers which should not make a difference. The food was ok, luke warm. When asked why we didn’t get any bread, she said: bread is by request only. Might try again since it is so close to us.

My first time in this place and I absolutely loved it. Both filet and salmon was delicious and very well done. I would definitely go back there.

Let’s face it, the options in Rancho Bernardo can be somewhat limited, and every now and then you want a really great happy hour without having to travel far. That’s what brings me to Black Angus. They’re conveniently located at the mall, so there’s plenty of parking, and their happy hour is great. $ 4/$ 5/$ 6 specials until 7pm. PERFECT. Service at the bar is always friendly, and there seems to be a pretty decent group of regular patrons. I’m definitely a fan.

It’s an average steakhouse. The food was decent with not much to write home about. It’s clearly a newer restaurant. It felt very empty in there. We had a boy’s night out here for steak & whiskey, and we spent a notable % of the meal commenting on the wait staff and service. We guessed this was the waitress’s first month working as a waitress(There were a few minor subtleties that she hadn’t picked up on yet). The drinks were average, but apparently the waitress or bartender didn’t know what«neat» whiskey was. The dessert was LARGE :) I would call it a decidedly average experience. I will probably be back, now that it’s the closest steakhouse to home, but I wouldn’t make a special meal out of it.

Lunch at Black Angus Somewhere between Outback and Sizzler is where your expectations should be set. The lunch menu had burgers and sandwiches, salads, and some combo meals. I believe some of the entrée items were lunch priced and portioned. The atmosphere outside of the Bullseye Bar area was a sea of booths with large groups of tables in the middle. Country music was playing in the background. With all the clanging of dishes and coffee cups from the kitchen it sounded like a diner. This was all a little odd considering how beautiful this place looks from the outside. Bread — Every good steakhouse has great complementary bread. Black Angus offers a small round of squaw bread. I thought the black angus version to be a little dry. Also one small round ball didn’t seem like enough bread for a table of five either. Kids Meals — Even though they don’t include beverages, they do include a dessert sundae. Mac and Cheese — can’t debate the taste. Steak and Mashed potatoes was the same portion as to the adult entrée, but only costing 7.99. The Best! SESAME — TERIYAKISIRLOINSTEAK Note that the lunchtime offering is on the smaller side, maybe 8oz. Despite its size, this was the table favorite by far. In fact, I gave most of it to everyone else begging for pieces. Mine came with a side salad, a very cold salad. Gripe — My lunch Teriyaki steak and mashed potatoes was the exact same portion as the Kids menu steak. While I did get a Salad with mine, the Kids got a sundae with theirs. Mine was 13.99 which is a few bucks too much based on their kids pricing of 7.99 for the same thing. Also, why is the salad so damn ice cold? The Verdict. This is the only real Streakhouse in Escondido so there are no real competitors. In general the lunch food was pretty good. Perhaps trying dinner with some coupons might be a better option. Be sure to check out the Bullseye bar. If Outback is 4 stars, this must be a 3 star.

It’s been years since I’ve been to a Black Angus and I must say I’ve missed it. This location just opened up and I’m glad it did. It’s another dining option in the area. Service, food and drink were on point! I ordered my New York Steak medium rare cause I’m that kind of fancy lol. Low and behold, it came out as ordered! The loaded potato was tasty and I forgot to mention my steak soup was damn good! I’m working in reverse… Our appetizer was huge and enough to share for 4 skinny people and one big dude! The complimentary bread was good too… Warm and freshly made. Now to dessert! The question is which one?! They were all good in their own way and again… Huge! I felt guilty knowing that everything wasn’t healthy but I wasn’t really counting calories hahahahaha! Our server was excellent and very cordial. It’s rare to have a great experience at an establishment such as this as its not a Ruth’s Chris or Donovan’s but it was still great! Just wish our main entrees made it out a little sooner– that’s the reason why I gave 4 out of 5 stars. It’s actually a 4.5. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal that won’t break the bank. It’s a new spot that is trying to regain their customers that are accustomed to the Black Angus Brand. Even if you’re not looking for a meal but only need a few drinks, the bar is perfect for your needs. Just wish they had a pool table like the older ones… Enjoy my pics.

The night started off great, I definitely thought I’d be giving this place 5 stars but as the night went on i knew that wasn’t going to happen anymore. My boyfriend and I had reservations for 7pm. We were seated around 7:15. We decided to do the dinner for 2. Such a great deal, appetizer, 2 entrees, and desert for a great price. We ordered the filet mignon nachos for an appetizer. They were soooo incredibly delicious. I never imaged they would be that good. I definitely recommend trying these! So far extremely impressed with the food and service. After our appetizer we were now waiting for our food. It was taking a very long time, it took about 50 minutes. We were getting very tired waiting for so long. Finally when our dinner arrived; I ordered a filet mignon(medium well), fries, and broccoli. My boyfriend ordered New York steak(well done) Mac and cheese and wedge salad. We both were very disappointed in the steaks. My steak was so well done I could not eat it. It was completely inedible, completely grey and chewy. My boyfriends steak was very pink, it was not cooked to his liking at all. They overcooked mine and undercooked his. We both also wanted well done/crunchy onions which were not at all. Very undercooked. We both couldn’t finish our steaks because they were not cooked to our liking at all. After, we ordered our desert, carrot cake. It was taking a long time; just for 1 slice of cake! At this point we were both getting very restless and I just wanted to leave. We had been there for so long at this point. Finally 20 minutes later we get our cake. The carrot cake was decent. Not horrible not amazing. After being there for almost 2 hours I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Soon after we left I started feeling very sick and unfortunately ended up having food poisoning. Makes me believe the steak was not fresh. I would possibly come back for the nachos and an alcoholic beverage; but I will never order steak from here again. P.s I didn’t order wine but I saw a lot of people that did and they fill the wine glasses full! Fullest I’ve ever seen any restaurant that serves wine by the glass.
