Expensive, but good. I really enjoyed my Filet Mignon Oscar a few weekends ago. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. It was my first time at Lampy’s and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Our waitress was exceptional. She was kind, friendly, and despite the dinner rush… very attentive. So service was definitely 5-star. When we entered we were early for our reservation, so we had a drink at the bar. I ordered the house mojito, it was pretty standard. When it came time for our reservation we were seated in a booth in the back room. Felt very private. They served an olive tray with homemade pickles, bread(the EVO, red pepper, salt, and roasted garlic spread is amazing), salad, your meal, and then had a huge variety of desserts to choose from. Our bill was around $ 140 for two people(4 or 5 alcoholic beverages and one dessert included.) Overall, I would come back here. For me it’ll be a special occasion destination.

Came here recently for the first time, and I’m pretty bummed out to say it was disappointing. There were aspects that were really good, but overall the food just under delivered. As far as atmosphere goes, the space is very lovely and well decorated. It’s not very large — maybe 15 – 20 tables in the dining room, and a bar area I did not go into. Our waitress was pretty friendly, the service was a little on the slow side considering there weren’t many other people there on a Monday night. As far as food goes, the bread and oil they bring out is delicious. They prepare it tableside with roasted garlic, parmesan, and red pepper flakes. A very nice touch and I was tempted to eat all of it but didn’t want to spoil my dinner. They also bring you a plate of pickles, peppers, and olives which is a nice touch. For salads, I got the spinach salad with cherries, bleu cheese and red onions. The flavors were good here, but my salad was absolutely drowning in the vinaigrette. Soupy salad is never good no matter how good the balsamic tasted. For my entrée I got the special of the night — duck breast with red wine grape reduction, and bleu cheese over a parsnip purée. Again, the flavors were really good, but the preparation was lacking. Most noticeably was the cook on the duck. Duck is very fatty and needs to be seared properly to render all that fat. This wasn’t quite there and was kind of flabby. Flavors were yummy — the gaminess paired really well with the sweet tartness of the sauce and the creaminess of the parsnips. The serving size also wasn’t very impressive for the cost. Entrees run high here and I expected more than 4 slices of breast meat. I had ordered mushrooms and cherry tomatoes as my side and they were a throwaway. Under seasoned and forgettable. I snuck a bite off my boyfriends plate and tried a shrimp from his clam & linguine pasta and found it to be really overcooked. They also left out the tomatoes that were supposed to be in the dish. Other dining companions liked their food, but one mentioned the saltimbocca felt a bit like a prepared food service product because of the uniformity of the breast — like it had been processed to achieve the rounded look. My group skipped dessert because we were full, but they come table side to show you a tray of 5 or 6 items. They shine a little flashlight on it and it seems kind of silly and dated. I think they used to do that at Red Lobster back in the 90s. So overall, I think the flavors are good but execution is lacking here. With entrees running between $ 25 – 50 I was expecting to have my socks knocked off, but sadly, they remained on. I’ll probably return at some point to try some of the bar food or happy hour specials, but will go elsewhere for a high end meal.

Food was excellent! We sat in the bar, it was quite loud with the bartenders shouting to each other rather than walking over and speaking in a normal tone of voice. Female bartender was dressed very inappropriate for an upscale restaurant, short skirt, dirty Ugg boots and a low cut top. Service was mediocre, nothing special. We were disappointed as we frequent their other restaurant(Number 5) often.

Last evening, my family and I enjoyed a most marvelous meal at Lampy’s. We each ordered a different entre’. Lampy’s Scampi was just as good as ever. The delmonico steak was superb, the lamb was exquisite and the shrimp piccata was out of this world. I highly recommend Lampy’s for an evening of culinary delight.

Love the food — Matt the bartender is amazing and knows how to keep those at the bar entertained. You don’t feel like you are in Endicott — top notch place!

Perhaps the finest restaurant in New York State. Their signature dish«Lampy’s Scampi» is heaven on a plate, melts in your mouth pure deliciousness. The Greek Tenderloin is equally fantastic. The olive oil, garlic and bread they bring out to get your appetite going is also phenomenal. Don’t indulge too much though or you’ll be bringing food home with you. The wait staff is knowledgable, friendly and prompt. Matt behind the bar is worth a visit and he is always quick with a joke if you need a laugh. The atmosphere is great and in keeping with the quality of the food. I’ve been a customer for 10 years and have always had a great, memorable experience. It’s a tad pricy for the Binghamton market but if you’ve eaten in the NYC area, Lampy’s is a downright bargain. It’s a must visit venue if you’re in the area.

Had my mom’s birthday dinner with my wife. It was overall a sad experience save for the fact that Mom was happy. Took forever to place drink order and even longer to appear. Ordered Dewar’s, it was not. The shrimp bisque looked and tasted like undiluted tomato soup. My Ceasar salad was merely OK. My wife’s scallops were oversalted and undercooked. My steak au poivre was lacking the poivre. Mom’s shrimp scampi pasta was well cooked and seasoned. Although waitress knew it was her 87th birthday no special attention was made. Needless to say, her 88th will be celebrated elsewhere.

Ok, so I’ve been using Unilocal for a while now. While I’ve had good food and service at many places, I’ve never been compelled to leave a review… Until tonight… I’m in town every few months for work and rarely explore local cuisine. Tonight I broke out the Unilocal app and went thru page after page until I got to Lampy’s. The sound of Mediterranean peaked my interest. I read the reviews and was almost turned off by the couple of idiots who were upset about the price increase. Well, let me tell you, this place was so amazing that I wouldn’t even mind paying more. First, I have to give a shout out to my server, Kristen and the blonde who would also stop to check on me. They both made me laugh and feel almost like I wasn’t eating solo dolo. Second, the fresh baked bread and spice rack(free) is to die for! The house salad with balsamic dressing was spectacular! I would lick that balsamic off of anything… ANYTHING! Be careful though, you might eat too much and get full before the real magic comes! That’s what happened to me. By the time the lamb shank came I could only eat two bites. BUT, those two bites were life changing!!! I would like to leave this review by saying a phrase spoken best by the great Terminator, «I’ll be back»!!

Very nice of Lampy’s to jack up all of their menu prices for their out of town guests coming in for Graduation at SUNY Binghamton — no mention of that on the phone when making the reservation, and having had to purchase a deposit in advance meant that you couldn’t leave upon seeing the obscene prices I will say, however, the food was very good, and the service was also top notch

We went for graduation weekend and while I understand that restaurants often take the opportunity to jack up prices for celebratory affairs, the prices they asked for were just insane for the quality of food you got. Normally, I have no qualms about paying a lot of money for good food, but thats the thing, the food has to be GOOD. You can go to the Spotted Pig in the city, order cocktails for 4, order appetizers, and have 4 phenomenal meals and you’d still have a bill LESSER than what Lampys asked for. On top of all that, you’d leave with the satisfaction that you just got a phenomenal meal worth all the pennies in the piggy bank. Lampys? Not the case. The food we got was inconsistent and not worth the upped price. For starters, we got the appetizers of stuffed mushroom and fried calamari. I’ll have to give credit where credit is due. The stuffed mushrooms were great. Perfectly seasoned, and just the right amount of feta to counteract the meaty-ness of the mushroom. The calamari while tender and fried well, however, was under-seasoned and the marinara sauce tasted like it was right out of a can. Move onto the roasted garlic with olive oil that they prepared table-side for you to put on your bread. If there was one redeeming grace about this restaurant. It.Is.This.Dish. Sure you can go for the butter, but you’d be missing out on the highest point of your meal if you chose to forego that delicious bit of heaven on earth roasted garlic mix. On the side were equally addictive dill pickles that were crunchy, fresh, and perfectly spiced. If you have to go to this restaurant, load up on this. Next was a forgettable salad that came out of and earthbound farms clamshell. Onto the entrees. The steaks that were ordered were good, but both diners asked for rare, one got hers and the other got medium well. The chicken saltimbocca I got was overcooked and dry, and another family member got risotto that was definitely not al dente and undercooked. Desserts were so forgettable that I forgot what we ordered. I think one of them was a crème brûlée and a limoncello cheesecake. Either way, it was middle of the line and«okay» I have neither complaint or compliment about them. The only saving grace was our WONDERFUL waitress — she was attentive even though the restaurant was packed and very busy, the stuffed mushroom appetizer, and the garlic olive oil dip with pickels. The second star is for all three of those.

Went for Restaurant Week and even though the place was packed beyond belief with regulars and new customers like me, service was spectacular, the food was amazing, and the experience overall was well worth the price. The only downside is that it’s a pretty pricy place. I definitely recommend going for Restaurant Week to check it out.

I was not impressed by lampys. I think the prices are high and the food is just okay. My wife likes it so I would go back but I’m not a big fan. I think there are a lot of regulars that go and that is why they survive. But wasn’t impressed compared to many other restaurants in the area at the same price point. Parking is also a pain at times or you have to use a meter and pay.

Fine dining in a restaurant with a very nice atmosphere, top notch service, and delicious food. Owned by the same guy who owns the«Number 5» in Binghamton, and it shows in the attention to detail. Expensive, though. Would be nice if they have a more adventurous beer list.

The food was decent and the price was right however the feeling was very«local» and«towny», not being either you could feel the stares of the«regulars» watching you as you took each sip and bite(not from the staff) I will try not to play the racist card but…

How do you survive as a restaurant in this town when there are SO many highly rated restaurants? By being as good as lampys is, that’s how. This restaurant is brilliant. The obviously talented chefs really have a great thing going here. You start off with table side service. A divided plate containing EVO, red pepper flakes, salt, and roasted garlic is prepared and mixed in front of you. The bread is freshly baked, crispy on the outside, yet warm and soft in the middle. My soup was served quickly, it was the soup of the day. I don’t recall what they called it but it was a thick broth with mushrooms and it was very good. Next came the entrée. I opted for filet mignon Oscar. This beautifully plated dish featured a perfectly cooked filet over asperges topped with lump crab. The crab was fresh and sweet and really complimented the dish nicely. It had a good flavor profile to it that I really enjoyed. What really surprised me was that I mentioned my birthday to my waitress being a few days away. The house comped my desert, even including a candle. A really nice and unexpected touch from a fine dining establishment. She brought out a platter with six or so deserts on it to pick from, and I went with the lemon cheesecake. This had to of been the best cheesecake I ever had. It was so light fluffy but tasted rich and creamy. Just as fresh as can be. I was most impressed. It was also plated beautifully, but at this point it seems to be a theme here. Overall I was blown away, and would happily go well out of my way to return. If you get the chance give them a shot as I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

My favorite restaurant in Broome County. From the bread with garlic oil and asiago cheese that they start you off with, to the clams casino, everything I’ve had there has been high quality and delicious every time. I usually get the prime sirloin with mushrooms and onions and mashed potato side, they cook the steaks perfectly. Great atmosphere and half price wine on Fridays, can’t beat it! I would definitely recommend it!

I have been here four or five times and am never let down. It deserves a full review! Last night I went with a larger party for my dad’s birthday. The server remembered all eight of our drink orders including one or two that were a little complicated. We were provided with plates of rich cheese and dark chocolate chips to start. The cheese was amazing, I couldn’t stop eating it. Another key selling point is the garlic mixture they prepare for you to put on your bread. Garlic, oil and grated cheese mashed together into a spread. Oh, there’s also butter… but if you go with that you’re not living enough. About the same time as the spread came out, they also brought out their signature, home prepared dill pickles. I hate pickles so I didn’t go down that road… but I know they sell them by the jar so they must be good. I chose the wild mushroom as my soup, which was downright delicious. Probably the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had– and I love mushroom soup. The French onion is also tried and true, but I’m not a big onion person so I veered off and was pleasantly surprised. The choice of specials were a generously sized scallop dish and a steak dish. It was just pink enough for me and whatever they did to prepare it(don’t rely on me for the technicalities) it was perfect. I think the server mentioned a chocolate reduction? It also came with baby grown(not cut) carrots, which were very salty: our server gave us the tip that the extra salt is intentional– they’re meant to be cut and eaten with a bite of the steak. This combination was awesome, once we were clued in. I did also try a bite of the scallops– they were light and very flavorful. Not too dry either. These were jumbo scallops, the real deal. Each entrée also came with a potato dish of your choice. The mashed were on point, I didn’t try any of the others. Finally, desert. Many of our party got the crème brûlée, which got rave reviews. I went with the chocolate cake: heated, very light, served with raspberry sauce, vanilla ice cream and a daub of cream. Very rich. Usually I savor this type of desert, but I wolfed this one down. Next time I will be trying the Cioppino– which has a little of virtually every sea food you can imagine on it. I almost went for it this time but the steak was calling my name. I love the atmosphere in this place. Also as a plus, it’s within walking distance from my parents’ place! Can’t really say a bad thing about it. Next time I’m in town I’m sure I’ll be back.

Lampy’s IS fine dining in the Binghamton area. Large menu, excellent scotch selection, great desserts, atmosphere is wonderful, service is top notch. Now, if only they could have a cigar section it would be perfect ;)

We went at Christmastime around 5:30pm(we had skipped lunch). Even at that time the small restaurant area was booked, so we took one of the few booths in the bar area. The poor waitress was trying to tend bar and serve the eating area, so service was slow. My husband’s Cioppino(stewed lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, salmon, and sea bass) was okay, and my sausage and pepper sub was too large to eat civilly. Not worth the large price tag. Not very Mediterranean either, mostly trying to do high-end seafood and steaks for the price. Won’t be returning.
