I was writing this review because the service at this subway is just awful and there is never a manager around to talk to. Apparently by the amount of negative reviews on here the management is blind or just doesn’t care how their restaurant is being run. Every time I come in the staff are totally clueless about the promotions and the ones they honor is completely luck of the draw depending on who is working that day. I come here because it’s convenient but I’m going to start driving to the one on 40th and San Pablo because I really can’t handle the people who work at this one anymore.

Really wanted to like this place as its close by to were I live but it’s the worst. My GF and I gave it three tries and will not be going back. The customer service is awful, the people running this place are rude and behave as if you’re doing them a disservice by eating there. They don’t care if the bread is stale, they’ll use it. They just throw together your sandwich. Seriously avoid this place. It’s a shit box.

Monday afternoon, 1:45pm. NOONE is behind the counter. I hear laughing and talking in the back room. ‘Hello? Hello?’ No response. 5 minutes later two employees emerge. No ‘Oh sorry about that’ or even a ‘what can I get for you?’ — just blank stares. TERRIBLE customer service. I will not go back. How do these people have jobs?

Went in at 8 am to get coffee. Lady said they didn’t have any. Asked for wifi access after purchase and they said it wasn’t for customers. Don’t complain about Starbucks taking your business if you don’t have anything to offer

This Subway is across the street from my job and I have had horrible service each time I go. Today 7÷1÷14 @ 3:00 pm, I went in to try one of the flatbread pizzas. The Manager, assisted me. After compiling the ingredients on the pizza bread, the MANAGER, picks up the baking tray off the floor. Her employee knocked it over and they got a good laugh about it. The MANAGER pick up the baking tray from the floor and proceeds to try and put my food on it and into the oven. NOT. So I tell her, that’s hit the floor, please don’t put my food on it. After several comments being made in a different language, she goes in the back to wash it. She returns with it wet, puts my pizzabread on it and into the oven. As we are waiting, she decides to sweep the floor. As she is holding the broom and the oven beeps she tries to take it out the oven with the broom still in her hand. NOGLOVESON! I am appauled now. So the other employee grabs it. She has to scrap it off the paper since it was put on a wet tray. I try and sit down and enjoy, but it’s so soggy. I ask the MANAGER for a refund stating I’m disguested by the experience and that the pizzabread is soggy. She states ALL she can do is put it back into the oven, no refunds. I will never go back there, ever. I’m reporting them to the health department. Very Disguested, Tonja

This Subway is close to our work so convenient, especially for big meeting but we will NEVER be back! Numerous times we have been appalled by the cleanliness of the store and the bad practice of the staff, wearing gloves to handle money or objects on counters and then going to make food with same gloves on. Today I ordered party platters for a lunch meeting and 3 of the sandwiches had ants in them and the owner wouldn’t do anything to make this right unless we brought the sandwiches back with ants, and obviously this was a little bit hard to do and why should we have to spend additional time on their mistake! Horrible service, the staff was nice but the owner is horrible and doesn’t care about his customers happiness!

My friend’s sandwich was massacred here! Thankfully he has little qualms about eating anything and everything whatever the quality, but I could not let this travesty go untold. I still see the pool of honey mustard oozing out of that yoga mat bread in my dreams. Now the experience must be Unilocaled for the catharsis. The woman who was behind the counter clearly hated her job, and upon seeing my friend and I walk in while engaged in happy banter, decided to squash our enthusiasm between two slices of sweet roll. She slapped down the bread and asked my friend, in the fewest possible words, what he wanted. My friend asked for spinach and got a single straggly leaf. I suppose we should have clarified that we did not mean *a* spinach, but many? I’m not sure if the cheese requested made it on there, because she proceeded to drown the whole thing in what must have been half a bottle of bright yellow honey mustard sauce. By the time she was done we had some bread, a leaf, and a whole lot of sweet mustardy mess. She forgot my friend asked for water – and we really needed it for that sandwich – and made the whole task of retrieving a plastic cup out to be some kind of great human sacrifice. My friend made it to the Amtrak for his trip home, but all I could think about was that war weary woman at the Subway and that travesty of a sandwich. What has happened here?

News flash. Wow. Startling improvement. Great tasting, fresh. Best ever and full flavored. Fresh tuna and so good. Will be back in full strides again. Clean and friendly staff. Had tuna on French roll.

This place is only in business because of its location because the kind of attitude and service they offer would’ve cause them to shut down a long time ago! This place is literally right next door from my office so I’ve gone here a few times thinking that it’ll be quick and convenient to grab lunch/breakfast there. I’ve given them too much business and today will be my last day there. The only thing convenient about this place is its location because once you’re in, expect to wait 5x longer than if you had gone elsewhere. The people here are so depressing and lazy! They’re super slow at everything, even placing the meat onto bread takes them super long. And what’s mind boggling is that they don’t even give you the amount of meat you’re suppose to get, they give you much less but it still takes them FOREVER to make a sandwich! I’ve decided to never go back because I went in there to grab lunch a few minutes ago and I got the slowest person ever. And on top of that, they were training her and she could barely speak english. But for the first time at this place, someone was putting the meat like what Subway advertises but her«trainer» said something to her and she took off 6 slices of turkey meat, leaving only two and having it spread out to cover the footlong… and a few slices of ham. Is this legal? They’re a franchise so they’re suppose to follow the rules and regulations to produce the product that this franchise claims, right? And what’s funny is that their receipts never states what you ordered, it just has a price. For all you tax auditors, come check this place out! Also, the breakfast stuff they offer here is questionable. I got the egg and ham on the flatbread for breakfast once and the entire thing smelled really weird.

Being directly across the street from Amtrak, this Subway looked like a convenient lunch stop for a lazy Sunday afternoon. And boy was it lazy. And the place empty of customers. For a reason. The girl with the glasses hates her job. She doesn’t engage customers, she burned my sandwich in the toaster, and when she gave me a cup for water, she didn’t tell me that there wasn’t any water available at the fountain drink machine. I didn’t bother to ask her to fill my cup, since she was hiding in the back the entire time after I paid for my food. I’ve never had this experience at any Subway, and I’ve eaten at a lot of Subways.

This is walking distance to my job so I come here often. There service is always good, and the staff is always very nice. It is like any other subway location layout wise and small. Parking is seems to be a little difficult only street parking and there is a parking lot across the street but i believe it is a little pricey because it is the parking for the amtrack station.

I remember reading somewhere that there are more Subways than McDs. I believe it, there are 5 in tiny Emeryville. This location has outdoor seating as well which is nice. Service was quick, efficient and as expected.

There were flies buzzing around in the food. Super gross. Right? Then my boyfriend went there to grab dinner and that night he got food poisoning. Food poisoning, from subway? He had the new falafel stuff. So yeah, go here if you wanna puke and have bad diarrhea. And if you want fly food, and if you want to poop all night long.

How can I give no stars? I am vegetarian, so I’m ordering vegetables and bread, here, not the high-cost items. They are STINGY. I asked if I could have more than the 5 olive slices they threw on the foot long. I got a pinch more and a whole lot of sass. I will walk miles to avoid this Subway.

Like earlier reviews said, the staff here has a problem with getting what you want and don’t want on your sandwiches. Every time I’ve come to this location, they’ll put in something that I said not to put in and will leave out something I asked for. For example, this is how my order went today: Me: Chicken teriyaki on the 6″ Italian bread please Person: Cheese? Me: No cheese!(practically screaming cause I know they don’t always hear me) Person:(piles on the cheese and pops it into the oven before I could say anything) Me:(Um, okay cheese is fine I guess…) And lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. Person: Sweet onion sauce? Me: Yes please Person:(doesn’t pay attention to where she’s squirting the sauce and gets it all over the wrapper and none on my sandwich) Me: Um. you didn’t put any sauce on my sandwich(points to sandwich) Person: Onion?(puts a handful in and wraps up and slices sandwich) I’ve had some other mediocre experiences with this place but today was just the worst. When I got to eating my sandwich on the train, it just fell apart into a soggy, sticky mess. Seriously, the only reason I ever come to this location is because it’s right across the street from the Amtrak station. Next time, I’ll just grab my sandwich in the city before taking the train.

I used to go there for the beloved Tuscan chicken sandwich, until one day they’ve obsoleted it and I was forced to order the icky sweet onion teriyaki chicken. The worst sandwich I had to date. The people behind the counter was so stingy with the ingredients. I had to ask for more lettuce because I could still see the bread underneath. Completely unacceptable. C’mon, lettuce is cheap! I miss the old times when Subway piled on the ingredients, like we like it.

I eat at subway 5 to 6 times a week so you could consider me a Subway expert. I have eaten at Subway up and down the California coast. I am the first person to complain about sloppy food handling or slow service. With the help of Subway and this group of employees specifically, I have lost 75 lbs eating this quick, tasty and relatively nutritious food. I could not have done this without my «Veggie Delight with too many vegetables please» that I have daily for lunch. I daily choose to walk 6 blocks past the subway near my work place in order to get my sandwich from this Subway. The employees do make the difference and this store has rocking employees.

Subway sandwiches aren’t anything spectacular or anything, but they’re great when you’re on the run and in need of a semi-healthy sandwich. This particular Subway receives 3 stars because of its service, otherwise 2 stars. I’ve been here a few times and always bump into Neha or Rohan. They’re both really friendly, patient, and have cool stories from Nepal to share. In addition, I’m picky with what goes into my sandwiches but they get it correctly every time. I like a lot of cucumbers, peppers, and olives on my sammy; they always load it up with ‘extra’ when I ask for it without charging me. Final Call: It’s right in front of the Emeryville Amtrak. Convenient for me to stop by for some grub when I don’t have time before catching a train. Chances are, I’ll be back because of the circumstances!

It’s a Subway, so my expectations aren’t high. My take on the Indian staff is that they are hard working and are trying to be successful here. And yes, I’d probably rather eat what they’re cooking at home. The most important thing for me is that when I come in with my 11 year-old, they are kind to him and very helpful in putting together the sandwich that he wants. Very few fancier places put a smile on his face like they do.
