With the stock market confused with everything these days — the sure thing seems to be gold. So as I was cleaning out my jewelry case and finding broken pieces and earrings and necklaces that I have not worn in years I decided to sell them.
My engagement ring and wedding ring came from the Smyth company when it was only in Timonium. You could always be sure you were getting good quality for a good price. Since there was a store near by I decided after doing some research and having a money figure in my head to drive there this afternoon.
We were greeted immediately when we entered the store. There were about four or five people I could see working there and there was another couple waiting to see about cashing in some gold. So we were told we would be next so we looked around the store. They have some really nice jewelry and several people were looking for anniversary diamond earrings and engagement rings.
When it was our turn we just laid our treasures on the table. With a magnet about 4 pieces were eliminated. But there were still plenty of pieces on the table. I like that he tested them right in front of me and told me the price of what one necklace would be before he had to cut it a little. I was never pressured at any time. Hint: you can add 50% to the total if you wanted to buy a piece of jewelry from the store. When the final price was announced I walked out with a check for close to the amount I had in my head. Drove to the bank and cashed it. Now, I have some extra cash for my vacation and eating out and financing my trips to some nice restaurants that are just waiting to be Unilocaled.
