I found this store to be clean with nice displays and good service

Who could ask for more in a home-town grocery? Franks added a meat counter and you can’t beat the deli… Great for bakery & produce too. Worth the extra pennies unless you need tires & lawn furniture too.

Frank’s County Market(aka Piggly Wiggly) is the best grocery store in Walworth County(that I’ve been to, at least). I go out of my way from Delavan to Elkhorn to shop here. They promote locally grown and organic produce, and have one of the best varieties I’ve seen in this area. Best part: Elegant Farmer Apple Pie!!! Get two.

I hate this f’in place! I have a pigggly wiggly card, but its under my wifes phone # and I left my phone at home. The old women refused to give me the discounts(over $ 20) so I left… Its been over a year and I will not go in.

I’m writing this review because I’ve been a Franks shopper for many years. I’m an extremely health conscious individual and this store has everything I need and want. I find the produce to be very good, especially when choosing the items that are in season! I love the fresh station, it always has some fresh cut veggies I can grab and make a quick dinner. The deli has so many different dips and trays that make it easy when entertaining or running out to tail gate. The meat department has a section with ready to cook pre seasoned meats that make my life a lot easier too! Just last night I bought pre seasoned cut up chicken for fajitas for dinner, it was excellent! The grocery has everything I need. If I can’t find something Ray or Tom will definitely get it for me. My favorite thing about the store is the friendly, helpful staff! I see some people had complained about the store changing to a piggly wiggly. While some items have gone up in price, I notice a lot have gone down! I see piggly wiggly is making a big comeback in Wisconsin, it doesn’t surprise me Franks was one of the first. Franks is a great grocery store that has always been very involved in the community, and I think that says a lot about the owners. As for cleanliness, I have never noticed the store to be anything other than clean and I will continue to be a satisfied and loyal customer for many years to come.

I have been a customer of Franks since it opened. Before it became a Piggly Wiggly it was a very good small town grocer with good quality and variety. I knew that when they became part of Piggly Wiggly it would slide, but I had no idea how far down that side would go. It is a terrible place to shop and whenever I am forced to shop in this dirty, over-priced, understocked, low-end store I find it depressing for hours before and after I get home. The produce used to be stellar. Now? Tiny little lemons that may or may not have juice in them, dried up artichokes and Brussels sprouts, onions with mold in the middle, tomatoes that mold in a day… the list goes on. The deli case used to have variety and good meats. Now it just all the cheapest stuff. And they don’t even offer their trademark baked beans in the winter. The deli case is half empty half the time. The meat is also the best of poor quality and only the typical huge slabs of meat are sold, much previously frozen or kept so cold it kills the taste and texture. The inside of the store doesn’t carry any variety anymore. Forcing me and my friends to go to multiple grocery stores to get so many things. The bakery is pretty much non-existant. A bunch of bread and rolls, cakes made from the same doughs. They had to remove the donut/roll case because of flies.(Yes, flies. This was told to me by an employee when asked.) So you can only buy mosts things in multiples and they RAISED the prices.again. There’s a few commercial bakery lines but most of time they are sold out because they don’t want to order in quantity. And the prices!!! Are just crazy high.(They practice high-low pricing) Unless it is on special, or they have their promotional weeks(to force higher sales during slow time periods) the prices are worse than in Chicago or Milwaukee. It is just crazy. The one thing I do like a lot are the people at the check-out. Most have been there a long time and are polite and helpful. All I can say is the owners come across as arrogant and greedy, only looking for ways to make more money for themselves. I wrote a personal email to the owners with many of these complaints only to get a response pretty much telling me I was wrong about everything and for me to hang in there that things are getting better. Okay, so it’s a year later and it’s worse. When we had dinner with a friend last week, she commented, «Frank’s has nothing anymore… isn’t that terrible? Thank god they opened a Sendicks off 43.» I guess I spent a part of my Sunday afternoon writing this because I care about having good, fairly priced food close to my home and want the Frank’s owners; Frank and Stephanie, to listen and fix their store. They did it before, they can do it again. I tried reaching out personally. Maybe a public platform will force them into caring more about what people eat and not always about profits.

Wow!!! What a difference a few years and some amazing renovations can make. Piggly Wiggly now boasts one of the best meat and produce departments in the county with great specials and a truly friendly staff. I go out of my way to shop here now and love their incredible selection of almost everything. Stop in around the holidays or most weekends there is almost always something fun happening. Give them a try if you haven’t already!

Prices could be more competitive but the food selection is fine. Staff are very friendly.

Thank God Frank’s is in Elkhorn. They have all the staples that we need. Mine are peanut butter and beer, but if you’re from Chicago and lost, don’t worry. They have everything you’re accustomed to. Even when I lived in a city, I don’t think I could find Diet Coke, daikon, prosciutto and Spanish chorizo all in the same store. Besides that fact, this place can be(and often is) cheaper than the Delavan Wal-mart. What more could you ask for?
