I have been to several of Sammys San Deigo locations over the last ten years or so, and I have to say this past week my husband and I came down to Los Angeles to visit some family and decided to stop at Sammys for a last minute birthday dinner for our daughter. It was a little busy so we were expecting delays in our service. Our server who the manager later referred to as AC was absolutely fantastic! She may as well have been apart of our family that’s how comfortable she made the evening! All of our food came out quickly, and the presentation was amazing, AC our server even recommended the duck tacos which were so good we had to order a second round, I don’t know how we a frequent this place and have never tried the tacos, if your at Sammys I suggest you TRYTHETACOS! My husband ordered a New York style pizza which looked delicious and was packed with a bunch of different meat mmmm… Even our drinks were delicious, I ordered 2 lemon drops,(I only ordered the second because the first was so delicious) and of course my daughter got the enormous messy Sunday for her birthday desert !! Jus imagine swimming in a pond of whip cream heading towards a waterfall of caramel and chocolate into an ocean of vanilla ice cream with a cherry on top! Yep that’s how delicious the ice cream Sunday was! thank-you so much for making my daughters birthday dinner a wonderful experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the LA area looking for a great meal, and awesome service! Thanks again AC.

It was really disappointing. The food did not taste good and the price was too high relative to the quality of food served. The POINT has opened up so many restaurant which are similarly priced but far superior in taste. Go to the POINT instead.

Would love to be elaborate and detail what was to be considered subpar food. Salty and lacked flavor? Is that possible? Will not be coming back.

I came in today with my 2 year old cousin. We ordered Truffle Fries(which I thought would be free because I Checked-In, but it’s only free between 3−6pm unfortunately), garlic cheese bread and the cotton candy. The fries and garlic bread were just okay. I came in around 11:45 and they open at 11 so I was expecting the food to taste more fresh. The dessert was good – it was just cotton candy, would be hard to mess up. But not too entirely sure that i’ll be coming back… The service was good. When I came before, it wasn’t at all so it’s good to see that my server was on top of all the tables he had. I work in the food business and customer service the MAIN focus where I work. So i’m very observant of my servers when I eat out. 4 stars because the service improved, but if it wasn’t for that, I most likely would’ve given 3 stars.

Was there on a Sunday night, but the place was not very crowded. Ordered a Martini, which came without the requested olives. Took two additional requests to get them. It seemed like they were seriously under staffed and maybe the wait staff were acting as their own bartender since the bar was deserted. The food was good, not exceptional. I was there because the person I was with wanted to go there, I won’t go back.

Have been to Sammy’s multiple times. Service and food are always great. Last time I was in, Christian was my server and he did a great job. Plus I had the arugula and pear pizza which is always amazing. Definitely going to keep coming here!

Came for lunch today and a great lunch it was. Chopped Chicken Salad was delicious. Didn’t even need dressing. The pizza was also delicious and recommended by our AWESOME server named Joe. With such a nice personality and communication skills, he might not be here very long. Exceptional service. We had the shishito peppers as well and it was free with a Unilocal check in. So if you are shopping in the area and looking for place to get a quick bite then don’t hesitate to come here. Oh and James who was the host/everything was also GREAT! Thanks guys

I ordered the Thai chicken salad and Thai chicken satays. Salad was dark green which was the only plus. The salad was flavorless except for the Thai Dressing which couldn’t make up for that flavorless chicken. The satays were the same. Appearance wise: it looked as though the pieces were previously frozen, no marinated with anything, stuck on a stick which it was probably frozen together and the same sauce as the Thai dressing. I returned the satay, it was that bad. The server did the best he could with what he had. I would tell him to work at another restaurant.

Delicious food, awesome customer service with a smile. Christian A is the best server ever! He suggested dead on perfect food & wine pairings. Super happy

Overall: Good food, plentiful portions, friendly service. Portions were plentiful, atmosphere was nice but casual. We’ve been there probably 8 – 10 times with small to medium-sized groups from work for lunch. Service: Pretty good. Servers usually know the menu, are quick, attentive, and make very few errors even with large groups. Food: Very good. The eggplant dip appetizer is a huge favorite with every party we’ve taken there, and their pita bread is definitely different than typical but most of our guests we take there really like it. The three dip appetizer is a great way to go. All pizzas have been good, as have the salads. Only think we’ve had there where people weren’t really happy with the entrée was the slider Kobe burgers… Price: Inexpensive for the El Segundo area. We usually are between $ 15 and $ 20/person(no alcohol). Atmosphere: Trendy but still relatively casual. Can get a bit noisy when busy. Net: Nice place, good food. Usually quick service and reasonable prices. Tip: Lunch is often not very full… when so service is good and food is ready quick. For something different, try the Thai shrimp pizza. This is my personal favorite there and is just chock full ’ flavor. :-)

Our friend from New York was in town and her goto place while she is here is Sammys. The service by Arlick(??) was AMAZING. Our food was delicious and our drinks were always topped off. Arlick came back several times to make sure we were good and if we needed anything. Something that should be done by a waiter, however with him, it was not forced. We even got to know him on a personal level which is always a plus. Kudos to the staff. ** I do wish they had a side salad or make the full salads a half portion. ** Also love that they have happy hour on the appetizers.

I’ve been here a few times for happy hour only and liked it so far. I’ve come with a very large group and we were still able to get okay service and food was out shortly. We ordered a lot appetizers and all of them were pretty good. If you make reservations the can accommodate small or big parties which is awesome.

This just happened. At minute 16 from being seated the hostess stepped up and became our server. The person who should have been our waitress was MIA. She’s here now serving others. Thanks for nothing. I don’t get it. This place is practically empty and the service is disappointing. After dessert… this will be my last visit to Sammys El Segundo. Step it up management. A shoutout and thank your hostess/server for saving our birthday celebration. I wish things had turned out better. PS. It’s minute 23 the bread never came as requested.

The Hummus appetizer was large and the pita excellent. The chicken satay was yummy with a great sauce. We had enough leftover to take home. They were out of salmon, so at the last second a different choice needed to be made. One of the salads had some lettuce that had turned. The mahi-mahi tacos were interesting and very juicy. The pizza wasn’t bad. What really made our night were three things: 1– The Chocolate Sundae in a tall goblet with chocolate and whip cream everywhere. 2– The amazing Armenian waitress who was always«johnny on the spot.» 3– The outside seating that partially protected us from the wind and bright sun. It would have been nice if they could have dropped a shade to keep the sun out of our eyes.

Ooh, a long day of work and wandering around this area shopping and this place sounded nice for our impromptu date night. it’s a little pricey for what you get — pizza. But. the service from our one gentleman working at the bar was pretty good. The restaurant was empty save for a group of women, one who touted that vaccines are horrible and too numerous because of some book she read(she swore up and down to the pregnant woman seated next to her that she will find a school that will take her daughter without vaccines). Ironically, she then started on about how wonderful and progressive Europe is with their shared seating where you talk to complete strangers with wonderful stories. Don’t you think you might want to vaccinate your privileged kid so when she goes traipsing around, exploring our wonderful world that she can have these mind-blowing conversations without running the risk of contracting polio, measles, mumps, or whooping cough? meh, it’s your kids. Let them get sick. haha But I digress. The portions are large, The service good, the ambiance like a classy Shakey’s in our corner, and I must say, I’m a fan of their prosciutto pizza and duck tacos.

Started off with truffle fries and crab & shrimp dip. Both were really good. For dinner, I ordered my favorite dish: Oak roasted salmon filet. Delicious! My husband had the New York pizza(probably not healthy but he loved it!) Great place to go with friends that are vegetarians. They had the vegetarian pizza & salad. We’re not disappointed. Ended with the messy sundae & crispy mini donuts… so good! Our server, Christina, was the best! Attentive, friendly, and had great suggestions. Will definitely ask for her table again!

I had a coupon from that I utilized for my first visit. Service was on the slow side. I don’t like as a new patron having to ask for bread. I know they’re trying to conserve on bread and water, but it’s nice to be offered. I shared the Thai Chicken Salad and New York Pizza with a friend. The salad looked old and parts were soggy and wilted. The mint in the salad really overpowered the lettuce. The salad also needed more dressing. I did like that the chicken was served warm on the salad. The pizza was much better than the salad. However, the mushrooms on the pizza tasted like they were straight from the can and were watery. The meat was unevenly distributed on the pizza. The dough itself was good as was the cheese. The sauce had a tangy taste to it I wasn’t expecting. Overall the experience was alright. If I had another coupon I might venture back.

I had a business lunch today and given the sweltering heat I chose to go with a kale infused garden salad with a light pomegranate dressing, absolutely delicious and filling. My guest had the chili and pork dumplings which seemed to pair well. Look forward to trying the pizza next time. The service was excellent and quite accommodating.

Small service flaw in last night’s visit. Food was delish(lobster bisque, tomato bisque, goat cheese pizza, fig and Gorgonzola flat bread and artichoke hearts appetizer), server was terrific too… up until my dinner guest spilled his drink. We cleaned up the area and when the server stopped by to check in, we explained what had happened. I expected a «hey, let me get you a replacement drink», but that statement was never offered. Perhaps the gesture is no longer part of the routine? I should have said something then, but I didn’t…shame on me. Maybe we’re eating out too much lately. Might be time to get back into the home cooking routine. Great food, friendly staff but in my opinion the«little» details(such as service) are just as important as the friendliness.
